He arrived yesterday. Even changed his Facebook to say Melbourne as where he lives. I asked if he was playing for the Heart/Victory but he said he's with Bentleigh Greens in the VPL. I then asked him if VPL was "Visable Panty Line" but he hasn't replied yet

"James was not bad tonight, worked hard and quite inventive in his distribution. Did dwell too long on the ball at times and lost possession as a result once or twice. Couple of good tackles.

As for the other Kiwis, Tinkler did OK in defence, and Messam is a f**king tank up front but his skills are of the Matt Simon variety."

Week's Round-Up:

VPL

Oakleigh Cannons          1 - 0    Bentleigh Greens
                                                  Michael Gwyther
                                                  Ryan de Vries

VTC Football                   0 - 4   Melbourne Knights
                                                 Leo Shin

Bentleigh Greens                                4 - 0   Melbourne Knights
Michael Gwyther (yc)                                   Leo Shin
Ryan de Vries (On 63', Goal 78')
"Ryan De Vries has made an instant impact at Kingston Heath with his dazzling footwork and explosive pace. Starting on the bench after pulling up sore from Mondays game against Oakleigh, the New Zealander slotted his first goal in a green shirt after Wayne Wallaces flick on to put the game completely out of reach."

Green Gully                                        4 - 2  Richmond
Jeff Fleming (c)
Jason Hayne (Goal 90')
Brent Fisher (On 79')
"Richmond searched for an equalizer whilst Green Gully pushed for a goal to seal the three points and it was the Cavaliers who got the goal with Jason Hayne being played one-on-one with Gal and the winger went around the keeper before slotting home an easy goal to seal the win."

Springvale White Eagles                    0 - 2  St Albans Saints
                                                                   Luis Fenton

NSWPL

Bankstown City                1 - 0   Rockdale City Suns

  Week's Round-Up:

VPL

St Albans Saints               6 - 2  VTC Football
Luis Fenton (Goal 52', Off 89')
"Visevic played in a low cross to the back post for an un-marked Louis Fenton to slot the ball away, the first of three goals in a period of ten minutes for St. Albans."

Hume City                         4 - 0  Green Gully
                                                   Jeff Fleming (c)
                                                   Jason Hayne (Off 70')
                                                   Brent Fisher (On 46')

St Albans Saints               0  - 2  Bentleigh Greens
Luis Fenton                                 Michael Gwyther
Ryan de Vries (On 66', Goal 77', yc)
"Bentleigh substitute Ryan De Vries was able to make an immediate impact as he found himself in a one-on-one situation with Steven Pavlovic who yet again pulled off a fantastic save. However the story would be different in the 77th minute as De Vries was able to take on Pavlovic and walk the ball into the goal to double the Greens' lead."

Melbourne Knights            1 - 0  South Melbourne
Leo Shin

Week's Round-Up:

VPL

Bentleigh Greens              2 - 3  Richmond
Ryan de Vries (Goal 34')
Michael Gwuther (Goal 52')
"There seemed to be no danger when De Vries collected the ball just inside his own half on the touchline but in the blink of an eye he was tearing down Richmonds right flank. After cutting inside, he slalomed his way through the penalty area and capped off a dazzling run by firing past Gal into the back of the net to record his third goal in as many weeks."
"The lead didnt last long however, as a breakdown in communication from Gal granted Gwyther a free passage to goal. With an empty net at his mercy, the New Zealander prodded the ball home and bagged his first for the club in doing so."

Oakleigh Cannons            0 - 1  Melbourne Knights
                                                  Leo Shin

Green Gully                      1 - 0  Dandenong Thunder
Jeff Fleming (c)
Brent Fisher
Jason Hayne (Goal 39', Off 88')
"After a tight opening 40 minutes Gully finally utilised their wind advantage, scoring in the 39th minute through Jason Hayne. Matthew Sanders made a brilliant run past two defenders and into the box, before going one-out with Webster. From a very tight angle, Sanders managed to force a save from Webster, which rolled into the path of an unmarked Hayne, who had the easy job of tapping in the opener."

NSWPL

Marconi Stallions               1 - 2  Rockdale City Suns

Week's Round-Up:

VPL

Melbourne Knights            1 - 1  Heidelberg
Leo Shin
Kayne Vincent (on 65', Goal 74')
"Magdic looked to his bench for some inspiration and decided to bring on new signing from Churchill Brothers in India, Kayne Vincent, for his first apperance at Knights Stadium. That decision proved to be a master-stroke just minutes later. He found himself with the ball in-front of goal and after botching his first effort he had another chance and this time he wasn't to miss to give the Knights a deserved equalizer for their second-half performance."

Northcote City                  0 - 4  Green Gully
                                                   Jeff Fleming (c)
                                                   Jason Hayne (Goal 81')
"Pasquale Vizzari entered the fray shortly afterwards and with his first touch of the ball he set up Jason Hayne to slot home Green Gully's fourth."

Hume City                         1 - 2  Bentleigh Greens
                                                   Michael Gwyther
Ryan de Vries (Goals 21', 75', Off 90')
"After 20 minutes Michael Gwyther made a strong run through the middle and then had a shot on goal. Lupce Acevski for Hume City saved his shot but he was unable to clear the ball. Only moments later, Ryan Devries opened the account for Bentleigh with his shot hitting the top left of the back of the net after sailing past Lupce Acevskis outstretched hands.
After 30 minutes (into 2nd half) Ryan Devries found himself alone at the top of the box. He was able to control the ball and then fire off a shot on goal that hit the back of the net bottom left."

NSWPL

APIA Leichhardt                0 - 3  Rockdale City Suns
Cole Tinkler                                 Shay Spitz (Goal 43')
Chris James (On 28')
"Kirs pass split the Tigers defence and found Paul Dee who, despite being in the twilight of his brilliant career, had enough pace and know-how to square a wonderful ball into the middle for Shay Spitz to score."
