I am dreading the England v Sweden game. I'm expecting 72 minutes of set pieces, with the rest filled in with  whining and moaning. And then another half an hour of that.

You must have been watching a different game

England easily bossed the cheating colombians in the first half and again in the 2nd half of extra time.

Great win for England and well deserved.

Kudos to their loyal fans too

Brazil have to be thinking themselves firm favourites right now, but in this WC anything is possible!

sure Colombia weren't very good in that regard. But let's not forget to the two English dives in the box, Henderson's head nudge and Maquire's running his boot over Falcao's head.

The hedge nudge was naughty and stupid I agree

But the running of the boot? come one its was more like the wind brushed his hair and he played on it

Was a bit disappointed that Colombia went into their shell in ET. They had England under control for large parts of the latter stages of the game but didn't really try to assert themselves in ET.

After England conceded the equaliser their heads went down and they were there for the taking but colombia could not or would not capitalise.

First half of ET had colombian victory written all over it but then in the 2nd half of ET England came back fighting. As for the shootout: these things are always a total lottery and anything could have happened

But all in all and on the balance of things I feel England deserved their victory

Shut up and let us  YF England fans just enjoy England winning on penalties for fudgeing once!

Honestly if it was the AllWhites we'd be mating with each other and I'd join in!

The game I watched showed moody, volatile colombians continually harassing the ref, playing dirty and feigning injury. While England had their moments of unruly behaviour too they were few and far between in comparison and they were not such a systematic part of the game play as with Colombia.

Really happy for England right now. But hey its just one game at a time and anything can happen in the next round

Well obvously you watched the game as an England fan, which is fine. But most neutrals, from what I've seen/heard, saw two petulant sides trying to outdo each other in unlikability stakes.

Credit to the EPL for tidying up the whole 'players surrounding the ref' thing. It's time for FIFA to do the same. And let's not wait 4 years, do it today, make an announcement because the game's being bought into disrepute by this behaviour.

I really enjoyed the way England conducted themselves in the first round, but by their own standards they were a disgrace today. The one redeeming feature of their cheating is that they were not very good at it, which is a credit to their football education.

We expected Colombia to behave like cowards and they didn't disappoint. I'm looking forward to the day when FIFA tidy up the World Cup and teams like this suffer due to their cod-like approach to the game.

I'm delighted that England won!

Based on this morning, Colombia are the new Uruguay. When they focussed on playing football they showed what they are capable of, but some of their antics, especially scuffing the penalty spot, were nothing short of feral.

England were not blameless either but nowhere near as bad as the Colombians.

Guys, we can't talked negatively about England in any way, or we might take the gloss off the result.

Guys you can say what ever you want about England and none of it will change the fact that England are through to the next round and deservedly so.

Saying England were a "disgrace" today is quite a curious thing to say. A disgrace in what way?

I wondered about that.Is that a bookable offence?

As you say when they concentrated on playing football they looked much better.

I imagine it would probably be bookable as unsporting behaviour.

Diving, surrounding the ref, constantly whinging. Not quite as bad as Colombia but still painful to watch as a neutral. Mind you, the football was pretty painful to watch as a neutral as well.

It must have been my watching the game as an England fan but it seemed to me there was a huge difference between the English and Colombian players behavior.

England were getting fouled constantly and just getting up and waiting to take the freekick whilst the Colombian players went wild. The scenes after the penalty was given were absolutely disgraceful from the Colombian players.

Like i said, watching as an English fan so possibly a certain level of bias coming though but i thought they were worlds apart in the way the behaved.

It was a Colombian game plan. I was happy how little retaliation there was.

Wow. Quite staggering how willing people are to overlook their team's dodgy behaviour. Mobbing the referee, dives all over the place including a couple in the box, headbutts, yeah nah, it was Colombians only, we were perfectly angelic.

And then people wonder why England is one of the most hated teams in the world.

A few players responded badly to a strategy of persistent fouling and niggle.

It quite clearly was Colombias game plan.

Kane seemed to get fouled every time he got the ball.

Are you saying Southgate told the players to go out and foul the Colombian team?

So its unimaginable that England would do it, but the Colombians definitely did?

I'm not saying England premeditated it (I will say that they reacted terribly) but the level of doublethink in that comment is impressive.

No. Read what I said before you break your 5th form English bank for insults.

I don't know where you get that I said it was unimaginable.

I said it was Colombias plan.

I don't think both teams were as bad as each other no. I didnt say England were angelic or fair play winners either, but hey, read what you want. Hating a team is a bias too .
