They count for PAX, attendance is counted by tickets scanned in the turnstiles so I would say yes, presuming they actually show up.

And as previously stated, they can. Nothing is stopping them from doing this sort of thing. It is not either or, it can be AND.

The club give plenty of tickets away to corporate clients whom in turn put them out on the desk for their employees whom cant be arsed to show up or grab one. With Brandons idea, i belueve his target would be someone with a slight orbigger interest in football.

While I am at it I think there is actually some merit in starting a fund to purchase tickets, maybe for a Childrens Charity or something?
Maybe aiming high and working together with the club to fund a Matchday experience for many people (ie Corporate Box + some merchandise + meet and greet players etc) funded totally by YF Donations.

The way I see it, I am stumping up the money, so I get to decide what I am going to do with it. I appreciate your feedback, and I am not pissed off by it at all... but I am saying to you and anyone else who thinks it could be done better in a different way - do it then.
I intend to talk to people before just giving them the ticket. Not just randomly give it to someone and hope they decide to come to the game.
I expect I might talk to 20 or so people before finding one I give the ticket to. It's entirely possible that one or some of those 20 odd people might either
(a) go to the game after having had their attention drawn to it, and/or
(b) tell some people about this guy who stopped them in the street to talk about the Phoenix, and that some of those people might go to the game, and/or
(c) might not go to this game, but then might have their awareness raised so they look out for the next home game a bit more.
If it raises awareness, it's worth doing.
Also, it's entirely possible that the person I give the ticket to WILL want to go with someone...

I also won two tickets from the Mojo promotion and I struggled to find anyone interested in free tickets. Managed to find two people to take them, but there was not a great deal of interest. Sadly it's going to take a good winning sequence to promote interest or David Villa. It's a shame that Frank Lampard didn't have a spell at Melbourne B, as I'm sure that would have had a huge impact on attendance for that Nix game

I have been given free tickets by sponsors because they don't get entries into their competitions or staff don't want to go.
I guess at the end of the day, it's your money if you want to spend it that way.
I think the idea of giving tickets to charity is much better.
Welnix need to change their approach of expecting support to developing support and to realise that they'll not break-even for a generation at least. If they expect to make money or break even then they are in the wrong business. The EPL and TV revenue in Europe has totally distorted the approach of club owners. Prior to the EPL, Football League clubs were run as a not-for-profit entities or at least money could not be taken out of the clubs by the owners.
Oh well at least the 'Nix have drawn level with the Mariners (McGlinchey saved Brockie's blushes after a poor penalty)

Chants vs Songs. You go to a football game to chant, you go to the shower, karaoke, church to sing songs :-)
Despite the little smiley face, that seemed to me a pretty clear declaration that in your opinion there is a right way to go to football, and it involves chanting, NOT singing.
And that people who sing should be getting in the shower, going to a karaoke bar, or going to church, but that they should not being going to the football.
It absolutely did NOT read that my 'sing' is your 'chant'.
On the back of your vitriolic email about how a 'love song' like Riera The Only would be received at a football match in the North East of England (i.e. where people knew how to support a team 'properly') that made my blood boil. I found it bloody offensive.
I read that and thought: "Okay, didn't realise that there was only one correct way of supporting a football team. Now I know. Must have been doing it wrong all this time. Good to get educated!" It really pissed me off.
