There is a new tv channel starting up in the next few weeks on Freeview. Sommet Sports.

According to their facebook page they will have coverage of the Bundesliga, Capital One Cup and the Europa League.

Finally we may get some coverage of some of the stuff that SKY is not even remotely interested in.

Their promo video is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-ZbUrc81i4

"Sommet Sports promises to offer Australian Rules Football (AFL) as well as the beautiful game, including the Scottish, German and Chinese FA cups and the Argentinian league and German Bundesliga."

So we might get to see Killen, Old and Rojas...

WIN!

No. It will not be carried on SKY.
And it will only be on UHF Freeview not satellite.

I thought Sky might not be showing it because they view it as a competitor. I think a lot of people have Sky just for sport, and if this new channel gets a few viewers and makes some money off advertising then it might start competing with Sky for broadcast rights to certain sporting events - so if Sky carry Sommet they will be exposing them to more viewers, increasing Sommet's revenue, and therefore enabling a competitor to gain traction against them. The mainstream free-to-air channels that Sky does carry are not only expected from the viewer but are also not really offering a competing business model, so Sky carries them. A free-to-air sports channel on the other hand cuts right into a major selling point for Sky

Test pattern up now on Channel 114. It is a hidden channel so you would have to do a rescan of UHF digital and then type 114 into your remote.

it's a moot point until Sommet come onto satellite as SKY can't pick it up until then.

Just checked and our TV (SONY - Welnix take note) and it's automatically up.  As far as test patterns go it's mint.  Not so much the high pitch whining noise.

Testing has now started. Had some football show on. Rumours that they may play the Scottish FA Cup Final this weekend.

Pretty jealous of those who can get bit. A shame sky can't pick it up.

Could you not use a separate cable from your aerial/dish wall socket to the TV (assuming it is a digital TV that receives Freeview)?

Would have to manually change over the cable each time but you'd only be doing for the Scottish FA Cup, so not very often.

Edit: Some F1 programme on atm.

*yawn*

you could buy a separate freeview receiver with the money you'll save on a Nix season ticket this year

Good investment.  Will actually be saving quite a bit so can have Sky and Freeview and a humungous flat screen TV with interweb connection and lots of refreshments.

Sunday evenings (7 pm onwards) in the lounge or man cave will be choice.

^ this.

nufc_nz - you see that phrase "TEST TRANSMISSION" in the top centre of the screen?

That means that what you are watching is a "test transmission".

In other words the transmission is a test.
