yep Tm, I knew that they were prepared to show it delayed on Sky, but i really don't think i could stay away from the internet coverage of the LIVE game (2.am here)

and even if i did somehow wait till 7.30 it,wouldn't be the same as even the stupid text commnetary online with it being live,

and if i did manage to stay away from the game til 7.30 and we conceded 1 early I'd probably have to  ring someone for the final score to calm my nerves -so i'll prob go the sopcast/tvants option

might  hassle sky  for live coverage one more time tho !

Thats sky's problem at the moment they seem to be a bit slow on the uptake that there are other options for us to watch live sport, and its a method they cant sell advertising on. the more people who switch to sopcast/tvants, the better the quality of the service, and more people will join. i wouldn't be surprised if sky soon petitioned the major isp's to block those p2p streaming sites. If the coverage for next years football hasn't improved significantly, i might be able to get the boss to open on Monday mornings for coverage of championship games payed on Sunday nights. APRA would love that, but no-one in NZ has broadcast rights so where not really stepping on anyones toes. UberGunner2008-05-16 09:45:28

There excuse was that there is too much live sport so I've asked if they can hijack the Highlights channel for 2 1/2 hrs. I'm awaiting a responce. No one will miss the Highlights Channel at 2 am.

slightly off the topic but seeing as hull look almost certainties to make the premiership, would the Hull v Everton  matches  next season be considered  mersyside derbies as well ??

great idea but they are too dumb to realise that the world is changing,

one response from them was that "their market research indicated that soccer fans were a small but vocal minority",

well, they'll certainly get vocal from me!, i will happily sl*g the f**kers off to any one within earshot

i could have been praising them to the Skies now (pun intended) but they had there chance to show a bit of responsiveness to their punters but they blew it - bring on the competition

My trusty old rattle went into overdrive when Caleb Folan headed us into relative safety against Watford but he appeared to have two left feet during the game which prompted the following comments on Hull City's 'online' site:

"If only Caleb could get his right foot to go in the general direction of his left foot then he would be a force to be reckoned with"!

and

"I am going to sponsor his studs next season as he doesn't appear to have any in his boots"!

yeh, OT i read those commnets (there's a few that want Folan to start ahead of Deano though! - and the classic commnet something along the lines of .."yeh but would you like to be Brownie trying to tell that to Mr Windass)

the thread "Was that better than sex?" was also a bit of a laugh

 - the classic  a few old tigers saying they couldn't answer accurately coz they couldn't remember what shagging was like! Scary!!

f**k OT we might just make it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bad omen for us is that no team scoring 6 goals in a play-off has gone on to win the final.

I believe we have drawn 0-0 and lost 2-1 against Bristol this season.

Maybe we can change all that.

stuff the omens!

yep we only got one point from 6 off them,  we played against ten men for about half of one of the games

this morning I'm optimistic, last night i was talking our chances down so as not to get my hopes to high

none of that matters either- i just  hope our preparation keeps the lads from getting too keyed up

and that bugger walton better stop crocking his team-mates in training

Yep, forget it tigers. You're spot on.
I once waited all day to watch Town play Bradford in a delayed match at 10.30 at night.
It was torture. Then Bradford scored after 15 minutes, so I picked up the Evening Post and looked up the result. Complete waste of time, effort and emotion. And that wasn't a Wembley play-off.

The response i got over a week ago said that they were showing the game "Live". Has this since changed?? This should be a good game to watch.

I really dont understand why they don't show the "Live" Championship games that BSKYB show. If it's ratings they're worried about why do they keep showing repreat upon repeat of other sporting fixtures well after the used by date. Isn't that what the highlights channel was meant to cover??

Show all the various divisional finals "Live" sky, every other "sky" organisation is!

Tigers, do you have a link to a live feed. I'm gonna pump the image through my laptop to my 42" LCD at home. Hopefully there is a decent image coming throuigh. I'd even pay for it if I had too.

tigers - I went to ask Sky about the Champions League Final (I'm away from home and the hotel doesn't do ESPN, only Sky Sports) and I noticed the following:

Question

Will SKY be screening the FA Cup final and the Coca Cola Championship final?

 Answer

The FA Cup final will screen live only on ESPN and the Coca Cola Championship final will screen live on SKY Sport 1.

Yeah good point. Shame they don't put dates on the questions. According to the guide there's some cricket being shown on both SS1 and SS2  when the play-off is on. In fact they will have SS1, SS2 and SS3 all showing cricket simultaneously from 4:30 to 5

So it looks like I got tigers' hopes up unnecessarily. Sorry mate.

Wait for the delayed screening tigers. Get someone reliable to remove all means of contact with the outside world while you're watching it if you have to.

Yeah, IPL and Black Caps tour. I wonder what will happen if the test is rained off. We should leave phone numbers so they can put the Hull game on and call us.

If every football fan rang in, they'd still say it was a vocal minority instead of conceding football is more popular than they care to admit

damn, for a few seconds i was getting excited!! (glad i didn't log on between your post and Toffeeman's) or i would have had longer to mistakenly believe that Sky was a worthy company to give money to - bring on the competion!!

nevermind,  thanks for the thought SiNZ

I'll watch it on the web though - there's no way i could sleep knowing that it was being played - even if all i end up with is text commnetary!!

yep, If TVNZ got the rights and showed The Championship and DIV1, Div2 games that BskyB show live, as well as Scottish, Germain, Greek football, there might be more than a few surprised persons.

yes but do we really want to hand the job over to TVNZ or TV3, we'll be forever watching delayed coverage at some ungodly hour!

As long as we don't get what has happened in England, where to watch all the football you have to subscribe to multiple providers. I've seen friends complaining that it was better and cheaper when Sky had a monopoly.

Not to mention splitting up coverage with adverts. Even live coverage - I hated it when they had formula 1 - every 10 to 15 laps, we'd cut to ads and come back 3 laps later.

Sky are rubbish but the Tigers aren't! Let's see them knock over Bristol and make a bit of history.
