UDB - "Ecstasy and agony"that just about sums up football (with the addition of the word "dour" for certain teams)

OT - wouldn't you have some 'roos on treadmillls out the back to fire up the emergency generator (or have i somehow scrambled the plots lines from "Skippy" and "The Flying doctors")

back to 'reality'... yep we seem to be expected to beat Watford (though I expect they won't be lieing down)

Palace - one off match - nervous hell - come the final whistle it's either football induced depression or mania

edit - haven't seen the injury list from ipswich - but looks like we've got close to a full squad for the play-offs, be interesting to see if  JJ plays any part, I hope Garcia and Pederson get a run at some stage

I wouldn't be surprised if they do exactly that.  If they get a goal up they are more cynical than Queensland.  As someone said earlier in the season, there is winning ugly, there is winning uglier, then there is winning Watford.

I must say I was a bit alarmed at that picture of Sir Bobby lifting his right hand with "Self Harm Shock" as the headline.  Is nothing sacred?

I had managed my disappointment a few weeks ago when we just weren't getting the breaks - we needed a flawless run in for the last 5 games but hey ho.   Good luck to Hull!  Certainly not keen on Palace or Watford going up at all.

Jim Magilton said that his players weren't good enough and some will have to be replaced. No sh*t Sherlock!  Having said that, it is nice to hear a manager not blame referees or global warming for once

Just want to come on here and wish Hull City all the best for tonight.
Clubs like Hull are proof that the fat cats of the Prem can't crush all the romance out of football.
As for the suggestion that they might not be ready for the Prem - well, there's only one way to find out. And it ain't spending another season in the Championship.

Yeah, got my dates mixed up - that's what happens when you're not involved in the play-offs.

Still, can't believe how excited I was when I heard that result last night on the Beeb. And good old Deano - he scored at Wembley against us in the 2000 play-off final - so he's been there, done that, knows where the net is at the Grand Old Duchess. Is it true he's 39 now? Or is that Barmby?

But we all have to remain calm. The Tigers will have to take a team of plumbers down to Vicarage, because a job lot of kitchen sinks will be headed their way.  Remember poor old Forest last year - they won 2-0 away but ended up going out in extra-time at the City Ground.

Just loved that bit about running round the house. That's what I do - even made it out onto the road when Town went up in 92. There is something truly bizarre about running around the streets in your dressing gown at 4am in the morning. f**kin' brilliant, though - the best feeling in the world.

C'MON HULL CITY!!!!!!!!!!

PS - Will be watching all of the Euros. I find it so much more relaxing than the World Cup. For some reason I can just relax and watch the football - instead of having the whole thing hijack my life like the WC does.

Yes mate, Deano turned 39 years of age on April 1st and should become the oldest player to play for Hull City mid way through September (currently held by Andy Hessenhaller) at 39 years and (I believe) 160-odd days.

Hull City versus Bristol City in the final will be a genuine game for football fans. No big spending clubs buying their way to the top but honest clubs with good coaches and hardworking teams without prima donnas. For the fans a huge treat with a shot at the big time. Watford and palace have had their chances in the past and to be honest we dont need any more South East/London teams up there as none came down this year. Hull and Bristol are important provincial centres and Premier football should be shared round.

Agreed Opre,

according to my old mate Wiki, Bristol had a turn up their in the late 70's and we've been waiting patiently in the queue since 1904

So I'm expecting a God-like voice to announce  - "Do come in you faithful and patient Tigers"

Barmby is a young pup of 34 years UBD - the oldies certainly did the business for us aided and abetted by young Campbell

The "Child-Bride" was not amused early this morning when, on hearing my trusty "Tigers Rattle" for a fourth time she declared "If I hear that f*cking rattle one more f*cking time I will ram it up your f*cking ar5e".
When I deliriously told her that we were going to Wembley and the game was next Sunday morning she declared "Well I'll be going to my f*cking Mam and Dads then. Stupid f*cking wog-ball"!
They don't understand do they!

my wife does a great job of pretending to understand (usually) and I consider myself lucky

it helps that i've got the lad on board

I expect by the time the final comes around I'll either be a stone lighter or 3 stone heavier  -depending on exactly how the i attempt to deal with the waiting!!

Toffeeman!! - stupid  Sky  w**kers  aren't showing it live, so I'm not sure what the hell to do about watching it (they could if they wanted to, but they have not the slightest clue about customer relations as far as I can tell)

It also clashes with the Scottish cup final - i think - so i can't see the Black Harp showing it on Setanta.

I suppose an option would be a Sopcast/TvAnts delivery connected to a screen somewhere but as Uber gunner says it's not exactly a winning move for any commercial operation re their licence.

I might try SKY one more time - but to be honest I'm almost past caring about them - as I've said they've got no idea

i talked it over with the boss, and while i think i can get the technology to work, 2 am on a sunday morning isnt viable for us. if there was another venue you had in mind, i might be able to twist his arm into lending a projector and screen to some reliable chap.

thanks for trying UG

I can probably get a projector and screen from work but thanks for the kind back-up idea-

My main worry is that I'm a bit paranoid about our broadband speed (telecom wires, ihug isp) but there's f'all i can do about that (short of invading SKY's head office and hearing about the game from a remand wing )

I'm sure it'll all work out on the night - with the time i've got to get through until  the final i could probably organise an invasion of Poland  or at least a beer with Toffeeman, mystery tiger, and my dad and biggest lad. (the kids can organise their own drinks )

(no offence intended oh Polish YFers - )

i must admit Brown has made a big difference at the back all season (I'm pretty sure you or one of the lads off your topic told us he was a good 'un!)  and Garcia is hopefully back on form

On any other day i'd have nothing against Bristol (I'm worried that they'll be a bit more used to the southern sunshine than us - I hope it's unseasonally cold on the day)
