Hi All,

I play for a social football team and unfortunately we've won promotion 3 years consecutively. Because of this, we have been placed in a less social division this year.

To be more competitive, we're looking to have pre-season training this year and organising some friendlies so we hit the ground running.

I've unintentionally become the person who runs training and having never really done this before, am looking for some suggestions of drills/games etc that people find helpful.

I've been using Four Four Two as a guide, but being a social team, the numbers at training vary each week (we usually end up with between 6-10 people) and it means I'm unable to do certain drills.

Any help appreciated.

Try these links and see if they are still working. Maybe able to find more later but haven't got them on my phone https://www.yellowfever.co.nz/categories/coaching-chat/topics/29714?page=1#post_788075

To be honest, with so few of you turning up to training I'd keep it simple and just do a rondo or two for a warmup and then just play SSG's with the teams dictated by how many you have.

If you have been promoted 3 times already then you are obviously playing well below yourselves, so just keep it simple and enjoyable for those who turn up.

Yeah, it's more keeping training interesting and with pre-season we want to keep fit. Always play a game towards the end or 2v2.
