I have been unable to find any forum or thread on YF for coaches to discuss things like training plans, techniques, how their education is progressing, so thought I'd start one in here.

If your coaching a team youth or adult this season, say hello and keep us updated on new things you might have learnt lately etc.

I'm doing my first season coaching a Combined U13 team this year and am loving it. So many kids have potential to play at a good level when they reach senior level, and I'm learning from the 3C coach Juan, who's a coaching genius

Sounds like not much coaching goes on then.

As its (quite) a few years since I played at the 'top level' , Id be fascinated to know what instructions are given to players these days.

Or is it still the old "lets get stuck in, keep possession and test out the keeper with long shots" talk at half time?

Lets hear from the current players, what useful info does your coach impart?

Hmm, distinctly underwhelmed with responses.

What does the manager say?
What do you know about your role and position in the team?
Is there any point having a manager, apart from picking the team?

Remembering back to a half time talk at Wharfies a few years ago, it always used to go like this:

"NVH - shut the hell up for a minute.  Greenie - stop getting wound up by the fullback.  You already have a yellow card for pushing him over after he looked at you, so I don't want you to get sent off.  NVH - shut the hell up for a minute.  Harry Potter - stop being so scared of the ball/opponent/rain.  NICK - SHUT THE f**k UP FOR A SECOND!  Betters - try to make a tackle at some stage.  I know you want to preserve your 'never been booked, never conceeded a free kick and never scored a goal' record, but we need you to be a bit more aggressive.  AARRRGGGHHHH - Nick, go and sit on the naughty step for 3 minutes."

Then it would just desend into everyone giving Greenie grief for never passing and spending most of the game so far out of position he was on an adjoining pitch.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Weren't you the man who instituted the pre-match huddle purely to facilitate you telling your daily pre-game joke?

I would love to know what Phil Crawshaw would say during his team talks?

No-one spilling the beans?
Sound like no-one says anything of any relevance then.

My first game coaching too fella, so don't get too cocky. BTW, how's your defender who had his kneecap firmly placed at 90 degrees from where it should have normally been?

ooohhhhhh, its a ickle bit cold.  Do we have to train, or can we stay inside and watch Funniest home videos instead?

Back in my day, we once trained in the middle of a tornado, and it was snowing.  And training went on for 6 hours.......and it was all shuttle runs.  And everything was in black and white.
