Rudan definitely played a massive part in restoring the club identity and culture, and the benefits of that have been left behind.

Nothing else was left behind though, except some snake droppings here and there.

He did well to shake up the footballing fraternity a bit, but the fact is - the squad is almost entirely new since his time at the club. All of those players which he took to his dumb boot camp thing have pretty much left.

Gary Hooper is seriously still unfit.

Not sure I agree with that, I think people are just not used to watching a proper centre forward operate. I've watched Wood play enough times in the Prem to know that workrate and fitness aren't entirely correlated to how many touches a forward has or how influential they are on the game. What matters is goals (and possibly assists) and he's still got respectable stats with this in mind.

To back up my point, around the 60 minute mark Hooper made a clearing header from a WSW corner around the 6 yard box. Long story short, the ball ended up with the Wanderers keeper in his own box not long after, and it was Hooper who had made the run to close down the keeper and start the press. Seriously unfit players don't make 90 metre runs at that stage of the game.

You’re 100% right, I had a close look at him during the game and his little touches, flicks, passes and positioning were spot on. You could just tell he was a proper striker with EPL status. Just the little things he does are valuable.

Agreed 100%. I cant really be sure of his fitness, but Im sure of his class from what Ive seen. Id rather he was playing than not!

Inside Sport forums ask: Do we owe Wellington an apology? (CW: large amounts of #NixOut salt)

Geez some of those people are absolutely deranged.

Well done to Valeo and others fighting the good fight in there, but man, might be easier just to leave them to their cesspit.

Can't believe people are so angry about our existence. And then to claim that we detract from Australian football development just for being in the league, when we've massively helped the careers of so many Australian coaches and players, including better exposure for young *australian* players than most of their own clubs, I mean wow.

It is the old story of you can't please all the people all of the time.

They are not deranged, just have a different opinion to you. Does not make them wrong or you right.

Time for a dissenting opinion, lest we all descend into a blissed-out stupor:  why no Team of The Week for DeVere and Taylor, without whose quiet and restrained performance we would not have kept a clean sheet?

Great story. However, the game on 15 February is at Eden Park so you may want to re-adjust your plans.

Bugger. Thanks for telling me now though, the longer that went on the worse things would have ended up at home!

None of the other games suit us all that well, might have to get creative with our plans to fit one in somewhere.

I just bought tickets for the Eden Park game and the section I looked at (on halfway) was close to a sell-out. Keep winning and who knows?

I bought tickets for the last Eden Park game but had to miss it due to a serious illness in the family.

Correct.

I believe they are wrong, and that they are deranged. That is my opinion.

I am aware that their opinion is different to mine.

Glad we are on the same page Leggy.

I'm old enough to remember when most here believed that DeVere was useless, like Ball and Davila

True. I do not know if Talay is the best tactician since Talay simply plays to the plan that Graham Arnold put in place at Sydney FC way back when. But I do recognise that Talay is a superb manager, and he seems able to recruit well and get the best out of the players recruited. He seems excellent in being able to correctly read player potential, professionalism, and personality.

And, I am also old enough to remember that we were not supposed to even last as a HAL club past this season.

Having now seen Devere in the flesh [in a Nix shirt], I think he and Taylor operate better together than Taylor and Durante. I don't get the sense of panic that I saw sometimes with Durante. Admittedly that probably harks back to when he was playing in a system that had him having to back track a lot.

I'm honestly happy not having to watch Dura complain to the ref every time he was too slow to get to the ball, conceding a goal, anymore

Well, you could if you really wanted to. It's much more enjoyable now.

Agree. Would like to see DeVere get a contract extension. He has now played every minute for half the season. Surely that proves he is over his injury issues of previous seasons.

He is quite a big part of why we are playing so well.
