Anyone got any info on the Nix pre-season in Rotorua?

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=10896915

"The Wellington Phoenix and Rotorua District Council have confirmed Rotorua will host the club's first pre-season fixture against A-League opposition when they host the Central Coast Mariners on September 22.

The Phoenix, under new head coach Ernie Merrick, will be based in Rotorua in the days leading up to the game at Rotorua International Stadium."

A mate in Rotorua tells me tickets go on sale tommorrow, not sure if he is pulling my leg or not.  I can't see any match or booking info on the Nix website at all.  I will be heading up that way and on to Auckland around then, so intend to catch this on the way there or back.

Strange there's nothing on the 'Nix site. There's no pre-season stuff on their upcoming events calendar.

Some confusion regarding CCM game in Rotorua.

Not part of CCMs pre-season schedule: http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/centralcoastmariners/news-display/Mariners-preseason-plans-finalised/71446

Even though lots of media in NZ as recently as last week reporting on the game, as well as the ability to buy tickets to the game: http://www.ticketmaster.co.nz/phoenix-v-mariners-holiday-inn-rotorua-new-zealand-22-09-2013/event/24004AE286251A60

I think CCM's done the dirty on us. Domey needs to get on the phone and find us a replacement now.

That could be why the Nix have not publicised ticket sale.

Ticketmaster commented on Twitter that they are going to look into it. Would think they will want a quick answer from those involved.

If you got airline ticket insurance, it does cover the cancelling of events. If not, hopefully they manage to find another A league club to full in for CCM. It can't be Adelaide as they're in Indonesia too.

Nah I'm too cheap for airline insurance - I needed to head up to see the family anyway - was going to drag them along.

Still annoying, just when you think the Phoenix are finally getting professional they do something else half arssed..

That's pretty harsh. It's 100% CCM fault.

Hopefully there will be something today.

Probably, it was said with affection. But unless they say otherwise it seems like they have started selling tickets without having a firm commitment from CCM. Fingers crossed.

Got this tweet from the Phoenix:

Na. That had everything teed up, signed. Then someone in CCM organised this Indonesia trip without checking with others about what committments they had.

I have uninsured flights for me and my son, but was really only flying there for the game. Guess I'll take insurance next time.

Well I stand corrected and appologise to anyone from the Phoenix organisation who happens to stumble on this thread.

Why were CCM so outraged on twitter then I wonder.

There are only 2 other games confirmed for the 22/9.

Adelaide v Wanderers
Brisbane v Sydney FC

Adelaide is at the same tournament that CCM is. Either they don't back themselves to make the final or they will have to pull out of that WSW game also.

*WELLINGTON PHOENIX UPDATE*

A-League football alternatives being explored for Rotorua

Rotorua District Council's events unit, Rotorua Events and Venues, is examining alternative match arrangements following advice from A-League football champions Central Coast Mariners that they are no longer able to make the previously planned pre-season match against Wellington Phoenix.

The match was scheduled to take place in Rotorua on Sunday 22 September. The Mariners have cited a clash of pre-season fixtures as the reason behind their decision.

Events & Venues' operations manager Crispian Stewart said his management team was in discussions with a number of other A-League cubs and the Wellington Phoenix to try and secure a replacement opponent, as well as exploring the possibility of a date change.

"We remain committed to finding an alternative if at all possible so that Rotorua still gets the opportunity to host its first pre-season A-League fixture. We anticipate being able to confirm some final arrangements as soon as next week"

Mr Stewart said ticket sales were currently on hold temporarily until an alternative match could be confirmed. Existing ticket holders would have the option of redeeming tickets for the alternative event or getting a full refund.

Please call 0800 111 999 or email customer.help@ticketmaster.co.nz with any enquiries.
