It's a good sign that 6 of the first 7 pages about our new gaffer are about how is name is(n't) pronounced.

That's a win for the Nix.

Hopefully we can finally part ways with Greenacre this time. People say he's a good guy etc, and I'm sure that's the case, but he's been assistant for 6 rather unsuccessful years. I think a fresh start would be good.

Except that when each of the head coaches have departed, he has shown he makes an impact.

We won 4 points in 6 games under him this season. Extrapolating that across the entire season, we'd have ended up with fewer points at that pace than we actually did. Now this is a pretty crude way of looking at it, but it does serve to illustrate that as a fan base, we are very forgiving when it comes to players/coaches we like, especially if they established themselves here for a reasonable period of time.

And I think that's fine for the fans, but it's definitely not the way a football club should be run.

Its hard to change a club culture when you don't change the personal that helped create it... not saying I want Greenacre gone, but could understand why this might happen.

He likes to win!

On that note, with all this old and new interviews coming out, they are pretty much worthless, every coach wants to win, while playing attractive football, is super motivated and knows the challenges, blabla. It is all sweet talking. I'll wait before I make my judgement.

Rudan has some success in lower league, and seems well liked. He could turn out to be a decent coach, he also could be a total failure, all we know that he is good in media business. I will careful with my judgements.

“I like to have two wingers who are good, technical players. I don’t like the extremely quick wingers who always try to beat the opponent on the outside,” he said. “I want my wingers to come inside, so when we are in the attacking third, we always try to create a diamond. If my attacking midfielder (10) is on the ball and I have my number 9 at the point, I want my two wingers to come in and play off the 9 … but never in a line. I don’t like my attacks to be in a straight line.”

“Once we create that diamond, then it gives space for the fullbacks to overlap and make runs. For the opposition, defensively, it is tough to defend against because we are asking the opposition fullbacks questions. What are you going to do? Are you going to come inside (to follow the winger)? If so, then our fullbacks have space. If they don’t follow the winger inside then they can receive in between the lines, face forward and either drive with the ball and shoot or look to link up and create 2 v 1 situations.”

If he sticks with this philosophy, I wonder how he uses Krishna. Burns fits that mould but Krishna's biggest strength is using his pace to get past the defender.

That, and the fact that any half decent Coach will adapt his philosophy to the players he has, rather than trying to shoehorn unsuitable players into a preconceived idea of how the team will play.

I am very much in the keep Greenie corner.  Sure we only got four points from the six games he was in charge.  He was though given a complete hospital pass being put into those six games.  You need to look deeper.  In the games that we/he lost, it was our style of play compared to earlier in the season that impressed a well as in the games where we did get some form of result.  i think it was fairly obvious that he had the respect of the players.  It should also be noted that until put in charge, he had not been part of the first team set up.

I believe from the outside looking in that he is an excellent coach.  We would be very much the poorer for losing him.

I do accept though that in modern professional football, the new gaffer has the right to bring in his own staff to sink or swim together.

If he still likes that tactical approach, I think it fits Krishna fine. While he is fast and can beat a man down the flanks, he's also been much more of a goal-scoring threat when he has the ball centrally and close to goal. His pace just becomes another asset there (rather than being one dimensional), he's able to get the ball first and look to cut inside but the defender is freaking out in two-minds knowing that while Krishna is most likely looking to come centrally to link up with the midfielders, he is probably also screwed if Krishna does decide to beat him on the outside.

He is the coach of the Academy is he not? The Academy is a bright spot in the organisation and a relative success story - keep him.

Saw an older guy in a Nix tracksuit yesterday with the initials DK outside the apartments where many Nix recruits stay. Grey-ish hair with a parting in the middle.

Does Rudan have an assistant with the same initials as Kalezic?

More importantly, how much did Kalezic get on TradeMe for that tracksuit?

So, surprise, surprise. Bosnich things signing Rudan is a great move for the coach and the club. Guess that kind of endorsement is an extra tick in the PLUS box.

Interesting to see what Bosnich the pundit has to say when the season starts, especially if we start winning games and tearing up the league.

What about: "These Kiwi boys are too good to lose. Give the Nix their extension, now... " ;)

Any one know if Rudan is up and running yet at Nix HQ? And what he might do first? Sign up some of the out-of-contract local players? Get out and about and look at some of the local leagues to get an idea of the standard?

Great news for Chris and the club, but I understood - and it's been discussed a lot on this forum - that he didn't have the required coaching qualification for either the top job, or the assistant role. What have I missed?

Hope they are soon. The Jets are on their way to Spain to play three La Liga sides, would be nice if we could have a challenging preseason against some good foreign teams too

That's a hell of a pre season for the Jets - that alone might have been enough for Ridenton to go!

I wonder how that's being funded. Wouldn't it be great if we could get a half decent team to come down and play a couple of games against the Nix pre season - maybe in Wgton and then Auckland.

Even a decent Championship side with name recognition like Aston Villa or Sheffield United would probably draw decent crowds.

Wouldn't have star players, but shouldn't cost as much as an EPL side.

I'd love to see another 4 way tourney with a couple of EPL teams and sydney or one of the melbourne sides? Having Newcastle and Westham here was awesome!
