And so it begins - a bunch of Waimak supporters and Uni supporters fighting each other on the forum, while Chch utd rub their hands together and quietly run away with the title. Uni are seemingly out of reach of the title even if they win the remaining games, Waimak will be game weary from Chatham Cup/English Cup and a substandard Chch Utd will be getting into MPL.
Disappointing. Waimak has a far better club structure and Uni have a far better team.
As you say Waimak have a good club structure - no argument - some of their kids teams are impressive - lost to one in the weekend!, and Uni potentially could have a different side from year to year. But wouldn't Nelson College be even more inconsistent from one year to the next. Makes you wonder who would be better going forward?

I think you'll find that the 'whinging' is about being frustrated that it wasn't established the pitch was too wet 45 minutes before the game started. The conditions didn't change from the start of the game to completion. And they've got to be disappointed that their boys were 2-0 up, playing on the same pitch Nelson was, and now have to travel again for a replay.

Yes agreed. However if they called it off before kickoff you would have still travelled for nothing. Considering MF or NZF are chipping in for the next round, and the fact you'll know you should beat them, consider it a fun postponement.

I hardly think a high school would look forward to the cost of travelling to ChCh every 2nd week. Nelson Suburbs pulled out of the Chatham Cup this year because of the cost and they are one of the best run clubs in the South Island, besides they would get thrashed every week, hardly good for football. So if they win the local league in Nelson whoever wins in ChCh has a free run into the MPL for next year.

Similar thing happened to Cashmere a couple of seasons ago, they stayed on overnight and played (and won) the next day. Also Coastal v Richmond similar situation although the game played in appalling conditions. Why is it when normal things like torrential rain in winter and games being called off cause some people to react poorly? Is this becoming a consistent theme?
Same pitch yes, and were clearly the better team, but college could argue that their attacking half was a lake, making it harder to score and Waimak had the wind. Had the game been 3-0 at half time, I wouldn't have been surprised if college had conceded defeat, but then again why would they?

Ha ha no more beersies, still waiting to find out when and where we play nelson college was such a shame weather ruined the day cos the nelson district had done a great job organising the ground thanks to their Mayor. If we manage to get job done against college it will be a great experience for our very young squad to go up against Cash tech though the way weather is going may have to be water polo. But with 7 of our squad under 17 will be huge if we get there

The relationship between APFA and Mainland is untidy to say the least.
Nomads aren't the only team that have been affected with the APFA guys, FC were left a couple of players down last weekend, as were Coastal..... And they are the ones I'm aware of..... The main issue is around the 'International' APFA guys. There is no issue with NZ homegrown players, some of whom have been playing all season and also played in this seasons Nike Cup.
The main thing surely should be that the boys aren't prevented from playing their Football at the weekend. If clubs are prepared to get by with the APFA boys not training with their teams (which can obviously have an effect of tactical team work) then there shouldn't be a problem in them being allowed to play. After all, what's the point in training to play Football when you are not actually allowed to play the game!

I think it is more of a case that they (ChCh schools) no longer wish to enter the Cup. CHCH BHS were regular starters a fews sason back when Stuart Smith was teaching at the school, but now teaching in Wellington, I think Shirley also use to enter. Under Cup rules any affiliated club, including Sunday Leagues, Business League and secondarys school and pay then entry fee and try their luck.
3. ENTRIES FOR THE COMPETITION
3.1. The competition shall be open to:
3.1.1. All clubs being members of District Federations affiliated to NZF, with entries restricted to one team per club.
3.1.2. Secondary Schools affiliated to the New Zealand Secondary Schools Football Association (NZSSFA), such entries to be at the sole discretion of NZF, and in any event limited to one team per school. On entering a team in this competition the team and the NZSSFA agree to abide by this Regulation 12 and all other NZF Regulations (specifically with regard to matters of discipline) and the NZF Code of Conduct.
3.1.3. Clubs from the Armed Services of the New Zealand Defence Force, being members of District Federations affiliated to NZF, such entry to be at the sole discretion of NZF, and in any event limited to one team from each affiliated club.
3.1.4. Any other team, being a combination of clubs from the same District Federation not entered in the competition but which would otherwise be eligible in their own right to enter the competition pursuant to clause 3.2, which NZF may, in its sole discretion, authorise to enter the competition.
3.2. NZF shall call for entries in February each year from teams wishing to compete in the Cup competition.
3.3. Each team’s entry shall be accompanied by the designated entry fee of $250.00 + GST, and be lodged with the New Zealand Football no later than 4pm on the first Friday in March in the season in which the team wishes to compete.
3.4. NZF may reject the entry of any team or teams of an affiliated Federation if it deems such a course desirable.
3.5. NZF shall have the power to disqualify any competing team or players(s) for any breach of the Rules and Regulations of NZF.

Good point though Benchwarmer. When are Mainland going to apply the Nike Cup rules? Seems pretty easy to do don't you think. They have a list of the players playing in the Nike Cup, when it comes time to transfer don't let them? And clubs can reject for this reason?

More to do with following FIFA rules, irrespective if they are relevant to amateur football or not. If the rules don't fit follow due process, lobby and get them changed (good luck....)
Dual Registration is the brainchild of MF, who are reviewing their local competition rules after the Unies debacle has proven at odds not only with NZF Rules but more importantly, FIFA's.
International Transfers for minors is problematic (impossible) under FIFA regulation if they are not living with their parent/guardian.
Getting slapped with a fine of $ near enough to buy a brand new turbocharged Golf for not following International Transfer requirements, FIFA has very much drawn a line in the sand for NZF to tidy up it's affairs. NZF no longer allowed to "Fast Track" International Transfers means they can now take anything upto 2 months. Even MF will have learned and won't be silly enough to continue with doctoring it's own competition rules..........surely?????
