Transfer window closing 30 june:
2) Hearing a bit of chat around the traps about APFA lads: dual registering to play Nike Cup 2014 (Nomads in process of building a gun team); players not being able to train at clubs not getting game time; and general other interesting stories. The relationship between APFA and Mainland is untidy to say the least.
Nomads aren't the only team that have been affected with the APFA guys, FC were left a couple of players down last weekend, as were Coastal..... And they are the ones I'm aware of..... The main issue is around the 'International' APFA guys. There is no issue with NZ homegrown players, some of whom have been playing all season and also played in this seasons Nike Cup.
The main thing surely should be that the boys aren't prevented from playing their Football at the weekend. If clubs are prepared to get by with the APFA boys not training with their teams (which can obviously have an effect of tactical team work) then there shouldn't be a problem in them being allowed to play. After all, what's the point in training to play Football when you are not actually allowed to play the game!
More to do with following FIFA rules, irrespective if they are relevant to amateur football or not. If the rules don't fit follow due process, lobby and get them changed (good luck....)
Dual Registration is the brainchild of MF, who are reviewing their local competition rules after the Unies debacle has proven at odds not only with NZF Rules but more importantly, FIFA's.
International Transfers for minors is problematic (impossible) under FIFA regulation if they are not living with their parent/guardian.
Getting slapped with a fine of $ near enough to buy a brand new turbocharged Golf for not following International Transfer requirements, FIFA has very much drawn a line in the sand for NZF to tidy up it's affairs. NZF no longer allowed to "Fast Track" International Transfers means they can now take anything upto 2 months. Even MF will have learned and won't be silly enough to continue with doctoring it's own competition rules..........surely?????
I'm sure we will all wait and see with baited breath!

Not for postponed games, here is appropiate rule.
6.3. The date and time by which matches that have been postponed or rescheduled will be as directed by the District Federation or by New Zealand Football as appropriate.

Vim's chances of any Coastal teams winning rest with a certain low pressure system approaching from the Antarctic. I'd say he's got very little Coastal joy in front of him this weekend....but he won't be alone because I don't think anyone in Canterbury will be playing. If Cup game in Nelson also called off that could make things interesting fixture-wise.

Yes likely to be a challenging few days ahead. Sounds like weather not too bad in Nelson today, and sun forcast late in the week. Suburbs have not played on Saxton Field since early June pitch should be in good nick so Halswell game likely to go ahead.

BW it's not the roads being passable it's the grounds, even ASB can suffer from too much water, not to mention snow. The have enough trouble now getting Alby out to prep the pitch with his dodgy back without him having to attach the snow plough!

I reckon they'll look to get a round of Div 1, men's and women's MPL in. Less the Nelson and Waimak games comes to 9 games. Should be do able.

Nelson College vs Nayland College - NZ Secondary School qualifer has been postponed until next week having been scheduled for Thursday.
Bloody annoying that the Chatham Cup is on Saturday! I wonder where they will play it? Probably the Broads ..Nelson College's front field is a mud bath at the best of times. (only one football game has been played there and that was last year's memorial game against Nayland)
I don't know how good the pitch at Saxton Field will be for the Mainland game because all Suburbs senior teams have had to train indoors due to the pitches being so terrible.

NAPIER, CHRISTCHURCH TO HOST PHOENIX
The Wellington Phoenix have confirmed the venues for two home games to be played away from Westpac Stadium in season 2013/14.
The Round 3 match on Sunday October 27 against Newcastle Jets will be played at McLean Park in Napier and the Round 5 match against Perth Glory will be played at AMI Stadium in Christchurch.
Wellington Phoenix General Manager David Dome said that the decision to take the games to Napier and Christchurch were for quite different reasons.
“A large number of fans have been asking us for some time to take a game to Napier on Labour weekend as it coincides with the national Under 19 tournament staged there every year” Dome said.
“Of course a significant number of our fans go to that tournament and they have lobbied us for several seasons to combine that tournament with a Phoenix match.
“Up until now, we have not been able to find a partner to make this happen, but this year thanks to a consortium of progressive local business people led by Tim Claudatos, we are thrilled to be able to make this happen.”
Napier businessman Tim Claudatos said the hosting of a Phoenix match in Napier was a huge honour for the region.
“Napier has a strong football community and the idea of hosting the Phoenix in a competitive A-League match is hugely exciting for all of us involved in football in the Hawkes Bay” said Claudatos.
“We’re looking forward to combining the U19 tournament and welcoming the Phoenix and Yellow Fever and having a huge football event at Labour weekend.
“Who knows, if this goes well maybe we can get the Phoenix to come back again”
The Round 5 match against Perth Glory has been confirmed for AMI Stadium in Christchurch, with the option that the Phoenix may play one game a season there for the next three seasons should the schedule permit.
“Vbase in Christchurch who run AMI Stadium approached us with the idea of us playing regularly in Christchurch” Dome said.
“Our past games in Christchurch have been excellent and we wanted to show our support for the Garden City as the rebuild gets underway.
“This is how we as a football club can help Christchurch in our way – by scheduling football matches there and supporting the local football community and at the same time giving AMI Stadium an extra game per year to hopefully pull some revenue in for the City.”
Vbase General Manager Russell Kenny said it was important for Canterbury that AMI Stadium continues to host quality sporting events.
“Sport is a huge part of life in this region and AMI Stadium is central to the sporting community” Kenny said.
“The Phoenix playing here is part of that and we’ve had an excellent relationship with the Phoenix in the past and we are very excited about the return of A-League football to AMI Stadium”.
Tickets for both matches go on sale with the rest of the Phoenix season on August 1.

The final game in the 2013/14 schedule still to be confirmed is the Round 17 match on February 1. This venue for this game is partly dependent on the availability of Westpac Stadium due to the Indian cricket team’s tour of New Zealand during this month, which is not expected to be confirmed until the end of June.
