Yeah i was thinking Stu or Aaron Clapham. Really controlled the middle of the park, that was where it was won

Danny Knight also pulled off some key saves to keep Tech's lead intacked.

either of those two would do for me

terris was solid

knight looks a decent keeper too

but i do hope that canterbury united have a decent fitness coach because cashmere looked like they were blowing chunks after 60 minutes.  i think cashmere being the kings of such a one sided mainland premier league is doing no favours for the summer franchise.

According to my computer there's only 853 watching the live stream so they're not sitting at home on their computers

Bad idea to have a big game on Fathers' Day - not convenient for many family people who go on outings on Fathers' Day.

I told my parents I was going to watch the game at Woolston Working Mens' club on Sunday and we celebrated Fathers Day on Saturday with lunch and a movie.

Just like when the World Cup was on...it's all about rugby first for NZ news channels! #1 sport in the world just doesn't seem to matter much.

Maybe on the news tomorrow night.last year was the same.

You really have to search around on stuff to find the result too.

However when it comes to Thugby, they should rename "Keeping up with the Kadashians" to "Keeping up with the All Blacks". In todays episode the All Black coach said the streaker was a nuisance.

Next week, Nonu cuts his finger nails - live and exclusively on Sky Sports 1,3, 5 and the Rugby channel. Womens Day, New Idea and NZ Womens Weekly will all be there for the live and exclusive cutting.

Cashmere deserved their win today. I though that Ivan played a poor hand in most of the game and they had no midfield. Stu Kelly absolutely deserved his MOM award and if not him, I though Dan Terris did a good job shutting Tade down who looked like another whinging South American (along with a couple of others in yellow whom maybe thought they were Brazilian and not Central in nature)

The Cashmere keeper gets love for some very good saves and if he is not number 1 then Highfield must have improved a lot. Not a bad game and certainly one of the better ones I have seen live in Auckland for a CC final.

Didn't think it was the greatest game. Central tried to play football, but probably lack one of two more good players in midfield to do it. Cashmere more than happy to pump it long with the little possession they had and feed off that. Tech took their chances when Central gifted some to them.

Agree with most of that. Didn't think the game was much of a spectacle for the neutral though.

Agree the Cashmere midfield won it for them.

Tade is a different level though, he's just come off a month long holiday or something and he still rips it up - just couldn't do it on his own.

Thought Central looked incapable of patiently drawing Cashmere out when Cashmere parked their bus. They just kept running into the Cashmere defence and nobody except Tade really looked like creating a good chance. In saying that, they forced two very good saves (at least) out of Cashmere's keeper.

Cashmere obviously had a plan. Go at them early and get ahead, then dominate the game and not over-commit forwards. It worked a treat and they looked pretty in control I thought despite Central having most of the late possession.

Central were second best, comfortably. And it wasn't a very good game. Central try to play a style of football that is better to watch. Tech play a brand of football that is effective when done well, and they do it very well.

I think Claps gets unfairly tagged as "overrated". He's a bloody good player, and I think most people rate him as a fringe All White, and a solid ASBP player. When you get to this level of the Cup you're usually watching players who can/do/should play ASBP, and so you wouldn't expect him to necessarily be head and shoulders better than everyone else on the park.

Tade was, however, head and shoulders above. I'd like to see him given a shot at the Nix, but I don't know how practical that is (nationality?) or if he'd even want to (cash money/short term deal). Tremendous player though.

Control or dominate means same thing really if controlling the game means making virtually no attempt to score a goal 2nd half then yes you are probably right. But the point still stands about how Kelly got M o M? As for Clapham I think the person who overates him most is himself!!

Agreed they are effective at what they do though, Get a lead then park the bus and rely on keeper to deal with anything from long range which he did very well, Hence why he was clearly M o M

Apart from have a few good nights out on the piss with you a few years ago?

So he had better gane than the keeper then?

Its been well documented on here that Central had all the possesion and that they parked the bus 2nd half so what did he do other than stand in  the line and defend stoutly like rest of the team

Kelly was decent but I didn't think he was miles better than other players from Cashmere. He gave away a lot of fouls and (surprisingly) got away with the persistent offending. I though apart from Tade's goal the CT back four were pretty good but maybe that occasion did seperate them and Kelly. It wasn't a game with any real standouts IMO (apart from Emi on the losing side) so picking a M.O.M will be difficult. The main differences in the sides for me were that CU lacked a midfield (potentially making Kelly's job easier) - Emi had to go looking for a lot of ball because they couldn't get it to him - and CT were just far more cohesive. They all seemed on the same page throughout the game. Also agree with Smithy - a good day out at the footy, no real complaints from me.
