There was only soft free kicks going one way. The last penalty was an absolute joke and the ref wouldn't even explain what the first one was about. Funny how during the speeches when it was mentioned on how soft the penalties were, that the ref was standing there nodding his head. He also apologised to one of our players during the game for an incorrect offside - a major no no for a ref! But you guys were still better for the win.

Guess when the start of the match is delayed 10mins because the ref forgot his shorts we shouldn't have expected the best of performaces from him ha!

Yeah good win on Saturday against Lower Hutt on the new turf at Fraser Park.

Was a bit of a strange game.  Both teams struggled to move the ball on the turf with a lot of players getting the ball stuck under their feet and a lot of shots being dragged wide etc.  May just need time to settle in a bit and lose some of the rubber off of it.  Still looks cracking and will be great to play on when it does settle.  Body doesn't feel anywhere near as sore as it does after playing on some of the turfs so that's a good sign of how they are improving.

We missed a few good chances in the first half with the LH keeper making some good saves before finally taking the lead just before half time. We then rode our luck a bit at 1-0 for a while including a clearance off the line and some last ditch defending.

Second goal killed the game off and although I looked offside by the time I got the ball I was definitely onside when it was played.  I just stood beside the last defender and then was the only one that moved when the cross came in.  Seems it was only me and the ref that felt that way though ha!

5:15pm kick off next week now doesn't sound much fun.  Going to make for a long day waiting around to play.

Yeah and it might change again this weekend with the games in hand getting played.  Will be good to have everyone back on the same number of games played.

Cheers to Douglas Villa for putting on a feed for us after the game Saturday.  Made the road trip back home a little bit less messy!

Quite looking forward to a weekend off this week actually, get to rest a few niggles!  Feeling my age!

Cheers for the game Karori (wellington-hibee) and sorry we couldn't stick around, the van had to be back in the yard by 7pm for a netball team to take it out. We were really looking forward to the game and we had a pretty solid game plan sorted for the game but as soon as the game started and we realised we were playing in 10" of mud that plan went straight outa the window but you guys adapted to the swamp and played well. Fell a bit guttered that we made quite a few chances and didn't even test ya keeper but that's footy, well take whatever positives we can tho, last time we played you got 6 and this time you only got 4 so that's a plus.

Good luck for the rest of the season lads

Cheers Villa7.  I think the Masterton team that were through playing the Magpies got your share of the food so they were quite happy with that.

Yeah the pitch was a game killer, defo not the kind of football we like to play.  We knew the first goal would be important when we seen the pitch was that boggy so we were determined to get off to a good start.  Thought it was going to be a frustrating one as your defence were making some great last ditch tackles.

We just wanted the three points and would have been happy with any scoreline so to keep a clean sheet and get a few at the other end was a bonus for us.

Good luck with the rest of your season!

See this weekends results went with form (apart from UH recording their first win so well done to them) which continues to keep the title chase a tight one, heard the Wainui v SV game got abit tense with the referee dishing out cards like it was Christmas.

What was the score of the Stokes Valley - Wharfies game or did it get called off?

Cheers

Game got called off just after half time with score 0-0. Referee was debating not even starting the game and by half time it got worse so he called it. Game will have to be replayed and Stokes Valley may have to give up home field for it to be played on artificual as can't see Delaney being good enough to play on again.

Surprised they didn't move it to the other pitch and the other 2 games on to that, by the time we had finished on it it wasn't great but it didn't start with a swamp at one end like the pitch for the Cap 2 game.

Can't imagine how the pitch we played on looked after a 2nd game.

btw what a joke the game after you was. They had an official ref and BNu had about six players before they chucked a kit on a ten year old, and SV only had about eight. They kicked off about half an hour late. Maybe we should have moved to their pitch at half time

That was the Capital 12 Derby between Stokes Valley Destroyers and Stokes Valley,

Number 2 pitch at Delaney normally cuts up worse than the number one, really small as well, you can put throw-ins into the far post.

ah ok. sweet if a derby game. How do SV have two teams in the same grade? they don't have many to start with do they? [clearly off topic]

I think it will be difficult to find many playable grass pitches anywhere this weekend due to them being smashed

Although it was annoying at the time it was probably the right decision as there were a few tackles that were going in that were clattering people without any intent behind them.  Would have been disappointing for either team to have dropped points because someone had slipped etc.

Ha yep we stacked the team with Greenie, highlight of the game was his shot that went out for a throwing so no doubt Stokes dodged a bullet there.

Big game for us vs Naenae now this weekend.  Hope KP has held up ok as it wasn't too bad the last few weeks surprisingly.

See all Cap 2 games have been postponed apart from Stokes Valley v Waterside which is playing at Fraser Turf. Think Cap Football maybe wanted a result from this game before the last round is played.

2-2 I hear. Saw wharf score and then SV reply straight back. Apparently Wharf got a late second equaliser

Yeah late equaliser for us to steal a draw.  Fairly even first half with both teams hitting the post.  We got off to a good start in the second and took the lead only to concede two goals in the space of five minutes.

Was all Stokes after that to be fair with lots of pressure but we somehow managed to hold out and had a good last ten with the equaliser coming in the 89th minute.

We were very lucky to get away with the draw as we played no where near our best so we will now have to really lift our game vs Naenae (who were great support for the draw on Saturday ha)  this weekend.

Naenae take out Cap 2 after beating Waterside 1-0 and Stokes Valley drew 2-2 with Villa. Leaving Naenae on 40 points and Stokes and Karori on 39. Think Karori still goes through in second place on goal difference.

proud of my lads yesterday, took us to be down to 9 men before stokes could get the equalizer, wasn't the best or prettiest game we've played but it was an awesome physical battle, best of luck to everyone next season
