I've seen mixed messages about if you can record viewers choice games, and to be honest, it ties me down to a physical address. I like catching games at work out of the corner of my eye, or when i'm on holiday.

I find Sky very poor value. I'm not interested in anything on sky other than the A League, the FA Cup, and Champions  League on ESPN, all that for $95 a month :P

I'd happily pay another $100 a year to PLP to secure these 3 events.

"$95 a month" guess that includes MySky+? That is steep.
It's much cheaper if you just have what I have i.e. Basic package = $47 + Sport = $ 26.45
TOTAL = $ 73.45 per month
I'm happy just recording stuff on my DVD recorder.

I am not on Facebook so won't vote, but here is my thought.  They may not be able to bid for A-League, as it is tied up, but they could get the HAL highlights show (I think it is a packaged show Foxtel offers to other networks). Won't cost much.

Any particular game?

Is the Coach lining up female versions of Suarez, Sturridge, Gerrard etc to help you copy their game?

Well, we've got good players, it's a matter of teaching them tactics. In particular, he was talking about the midfield defensive tactics with the three-man "upside-down bowl" formation in a 4-3-3. He said "watch how the Phoenix play, or watch Liverpool, which is pretty much the same but with much better execution."

All good, I knew what you meant. :-)

It's a good coaching technique, let's players visualise what he's aiming for. Good luck for the season.

Now watching the Liverpool v City replay. Hey, Skrtl! He's the guy whom Ryan Nelsen put the fear of God into at the South Africa World Cup, right?

Not sure if trolling, but... we played Slovakia, Italy and Paraguay at the world cup. The warm-up was against Serbia, where we won 1-0 and there was a pitch invasion.

Think you're right about Skittles - strangely, the All Whites also made Vidic look very average in that warm-up win v Serbia.

Not Sommet, but on AL Jazeera now there is a programme about Drogba halting civil war in his country.

... Very good.  Next week Socrates, Corinthians and democracy in Brasil.

R.I.P. Sommet Sport

It was always going to be tough funding a free-to-air 24 hour sports channel in a small country like this.

Rights to major sports don't come cheap.

Was good while it lasted to get all the free football even if their scheduling was often haphazard.

Signs that they were struggling were there this year with reduced football coverage such as only one Premier League club channel.

I noticed thay had no Europa League games scheduled for this week when they normally carry them...

A shame there won't be much football on TV for those without Sky now...

Down to one EPL game a week on TV One and the EPL highlights at midnight on Wednesdays.

Clearly Sommet didn't make much impact if the journalist who wrote this (Duncan Johnstone, who's supposed to be a sports journalist) thinks "the operation lasted less than five months after being launched on July 18."

Burk - it  of course lasted 17 months after launching July 18 2013.

PRESS RELEASE 12 December 2014 SOMMET SPORTS

As at 12.00pm today free-to-air sports channel Sommet Sports will cease transmission.
Launched 18th July 2013, Sommet Sports has delivered both live and pre-recorded sports on Freeview Channel 14, and Sky Channel 69. Funding initially understood to be available for the channel upon launch had largely never materialised and Sommet has been forced to attempt to deliver a full nationwide broadcast channel on one third of the finance.
“I am totally gutted at not being able to sustain something that we have long held a fervent desire to deliver to New Zealanders. Sommet was born from a dream to deliver free sports to all kiwis. Sadly this dream is not to be.” says Andrew Reeves, Director of Sommet Sports Ltd. “We have been blown away by the amazing support and consistently growing viewership that we gained in such a short time. We can only thank our loyal fans who have stayed with us until the end.”
“Being the ‘new kids on the block“, we also struggled to gain a strong foothold with most advertising agencies. This coupled with an acute funding shortage has left us with the sad reality of having to make the difficult call.”
“I would like to thank OMD, Spark, McDonalds, KFC and Fiat Chrysler group for their support and belief in our vision of delivering ‘Free Sports for Kiwis’ “.

I hope the Premier League Pass boys get A-League. Sky can fudge right off with their strangle hold on everything.

The problem is production facilities which Coliseum Sports Media would have to contract out.

Sad to seem them go but from the time they started I always thought funding would be an issue.

If that happened, I would be saving $70 per month without any form of Sky tevelivision. That would be brilliant.
