Just noticed the EuroSports website lists Reid as one of the World cup's "Best Eleven" after the group stage and gives him the right- back berth in its eleven.  States that Ryan Nelsen only marginally missed out in the vote by its experts and the public.
See: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/26062010/58/world-cup-2010-best-xi-group-phase-fab-forlan.html

Discussion of Reid on this major Arsenal supporter's forum here (most fans seem positive and some have seen him play in World Cup, saying Arsenal could do with his pace and athleticism):

Some good info on Reid transfer speculation from the TV 3 website:

Excerpt below:

Reid, who plays for FC Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga, is reported to be on the list of several clubs in Italy's Serie A and the English Premier League, with his age and his transfer price attractions.

He is listed as having a market value of Stg1.125 million ($NZ2.5m).

Reid has also been widely linked with a move to Sicilian club Palermo but has not had discussions with the club.

"I haven't spoken with Palermo and my agent hasn't told me anything," he explained to palermo24.net.

"Palermo is a big club in Italy and my friend [Simon Kjaer] plays there. I would like it there, but there's been no contact."

Kjaer and Reid were team-mates at Midtjylland and the Danish defender has prospered since moving to Serie A in 2008.

Reid told NZPA after today's game he was not sure whether club commitments would get in the way of international football.

"I want to represent New Zealand and help New Zealand out," he said.

"I'm coming back to play for New Zealand Football. My idea is that I am going to play for New Zealand as much as possible.

"I have to go back and talk to the club, hopefully I can go on. I don't think anything will happen until after the World Cup is finished. I will see what happens."

Seems to have a groin injury: not a good news if bigger teams still want to sign him

Hazardous Frank continues to score goals.

The 33-year mltyv receiving spring destroyed by a ledbndsskade was ready and prepared when the new season, was whistled started.

12 minutes after he had scored after an intervention by Jonas Borring.

The attack was triggered by an error of Horsens' new acquisition, Allan K. Jepsen.

In the second Half struck Frank Kristensen back again after processing by Jonas Borring.

The duo came close to replicating the number a third time, but Jonas Borring wrongly assessed Frank Kristensen's speed, so mlkongen came to be missing a step.

Thus was midtjyderne a nice start to the new season, although guests may play the last half hour with one man less.

FCM had last-minute change in defense, as World Cup player Winston Reid left warming in early with a groin injury.

Therefore played young Erik Sviachenko alongside experienced Martin Albrechtsen in the middle so long as it lasted.

Defence player with a Danish passport and partly Polish roots was presented to the season's first red card when he after just over an hour cashed the second warning in order to rake in Horsens striker Gilberto Macena.

Previously, the 19 year old talent received a yellow card to come late with a tackle Issey Nakajima-Farranfore.

Pulled Horsens was no league-ready and played cumbersome and too slow.

Mlfarlige Gilberto Macena had several opportunities to score with an uncertain Jonas Lssl who several times was too hesitant in his actions outside the box.

Here is the translated source confirming that Reid is linked with Borussia dortmund:

The additional revenue could then flow into the team, with big jumps are not expected to continue. In addition, virtually all positions are filled twice with Piszczek finally became a representative for Patrick Owomoyela found. However, consistent with Mats Hummels, Neven Subotic and Felipe Santana only three experienced central defender in the squad, that fact could retaliate in the course of a season with triple burden. Therefore, would fit a commitment by Winston Reid. The New Zealander was to bring the World Cup Best Player of the Kiwis, Reid is also only 22 years old, and because of his time at FC Midtjylland (Denmark) Euro-sufficient experience.

I think the new limit across UEFA will have gone against him, many teams in the UK have far too many quality players in their senior squad that will have to be loaned out. I'm sure this is the same in Europe.

I think the disappointment is around the fact he didn't sign for the Arse.

Signing for West Ham, great stuff.  That'll be 3 Kiwi's in the Premier League at once.  Saw it on the News and was hoping it was Smeltz a.) so we wouldn't have to play against him, b.) it'd be great for him to pick up a contract like that and c.) I thought Reid would get a good contract somewhere eventually.

Still, awesome news.

Sounds very promising, will wait until all is signed. But I might grab a West Ham jersey of Reid's if he does, seeing as Liverpool apparel isn't something I am purchasing... at the moment

With the number 6 shirt being free at the club, he might be given that - massive responsibility.

depends how he plays.

Upson will be the main centre back (if he stays, although I cannot see anyone buying him after the clusterf**k of the world cup), so he will be competing with Jimmy Tompkins, Ben Haim (who seems to be injured at the moment) and Da Costa for the other position.

That is unless Uncle Avvy decides to go with some Ricki Herbert style 3 at the back formation.

Plenty of youngsters available in the back four. Spence and Tomkin have come thru the youth programme, also a very promising Icelandic player who came last year and has been playing in the Reserves, and a young Portugese? Deprela, then older players, Upson, Gabbidon, De Costa, (only 23), Ilunga, Faubert, Ben Haim and Spector.

Still, youth get looked after at WHU and Grant seems keen to build his team for the future.
Good luck to the lad, Our own Cockney Maori.
