I'll be at the lane on Sunday 10th August to watch our preseason friendly against Roma. I'll be taking the camera along for sure and hope to get some footage of the newer players in action. I'll post a link up here on the forums of any good video I can get.

admittedly a solid dmf i.e veloso would be great but i think huddlestone will step up a bit this year as well. ramos got him into shape in no time! will be interesting to see what happens with bentley and lennon. who would u rather start?
Well that's a tricky one. I love watching Lennon, but he couldn't score ina brothel in the EPL and he's so fast he gets isolated from the rest of the team.
Bent is our out and out striker at the moment, as I don't think we're going to see Berbatov in a Spurs jersey again (although the Roma game might prove me wrong - hopefully Phil will provide us with some great footage!), so we're going to have to have him in there. There's going to be some serious MF competition, so maybe Lennon does get used as a weapon in the last 20 minutes of a game, for the first few games of the season? HarryHotspur2008-08-02 14:15:00
Another one for Bent (and first for Bently) in a 2-0 victory over Celtic...but then we normally do quite well in pre-season!
Decent win over B. Dortmund today. Bent dscoring again to make it 11 in 5 pre-season games.

Berbatov is, to be honest, looking a bit lazy. But I think he will stay. As The Adebayor situation has shown us, the Newspapers don't really know sh*t and like to whip up a story (speculation). Was intersting to see the Arse fans boo Adebayor in their game against Juventus. Then today he comes out and comits tot he club. Just show how football fans will believe the papers and turn on a player based on sepculation (and I know ALL clubs have fans who do this - in case any emirate$$ supporters are reading this).

Well Phil, not that I'm a great fan of UK tabloid journalism (e.g., 'Woman gives birth to 10lb trout!)...I reckon 8/10 times there is no smoke without fire. Generally the papers call it correct leading up to the transfer...Adebayor and (possibly) sulky pants are high profile exceptions perhaps?
For those that remember, Thomas Peckhardt the young Czech striker we signed a couple? of years back - he features in a spurs XI match against Rushden and Diamonds, scoring 3:
I remember when we signed this guy he was touted as a real future star. Hasn't really done anything though, maybe becasue he hasn't been given much of a run. I'm not sure how much longer he will be on contract . . what are the odds of him ever breaking into first team ? ? ? ?

Yup...although Jamie O'Hara is perhaps one of the notable exceptions of breaking the shackles of reserve team footy. Talk about taking yer chance...

nice footage mate, looks like a decent view from the stand, a lot steeper than Westpac.
what a commanding pre season! 5nil vs second best team in italy last season, i know they were well off the pace but still deserves much kudos. i think if we pick up corluka and keep berba we will be looking damn fine heading into the season. a lot of people forum wise are tipping us for a great push at the top 4 if not higher should injuries and form stay onside.
must say looking forward to getting a look at a whole game. dissapointing we dont get watch middlesborough getting put to the sword this Sunday.

Southstand is around �50 for an EPL game at the moment I think. Yesterday's tickets were only �20 although it was only pre-season. We sat northwest end of ground.
I think I may have also been at that Chelsea game a few years back (or maybe it was another one we got beaten 4-0, I can't asccurately recall, I know is was when Zola was playing for them). . . strange coincidence!

Berbs looked very lazy against Roma. Harldy did any running (although that's pretty much how he's always played) and his passing was poor. Strting to get angry at other players when the ball doesn;t go direct to his feet. A few of the blue army in the stands are starting to talk like they want him out now too. Was subbed off just after half time to little applause.
Latest word is he will be gone by Friday. 28 Million to Utd, and we are making another push for the russian twins. Dave Villa is not an option anymore either....but 'apparentely' Ramos has 2 to 3 backup plans for a new striker and is just waiting for the ManU credit increase from Berba to swoop.
i don't know about the rest of you but i'm pretty gutted that this berba situation finally seems to be coming to the conclusion that he is going to go. i've been prepared for it for quite some time now but to lose him is going to be a huge hit to the team. he is a quality player, perhaps the most graceful striker in the world, similar to stephen fleming with a cricket bat. i really dont think we can get a quality replacement who will slot straight into the side in time to help us compete for the top 4 this season. and it simply once again proves that if a player succeeds at a club like spurs then they will get snapped up by the bigger fish. ahhh the wonders of reality biting.
still.....lets not be too gloomy about it, the season is still mighty exciting!
I wonder what he would have been like without Keane (who ran his nuts off in contrast to Berba) as a foil anyway. It will be very depressing to see him in a red shirt, but I've mentally said 'See Ya' for a while now.
I can't see Berbatov going until we have actually signed a replacement or have a cast-iron guarantee that someone has signed.
If he left (along with Keane) it would leave just Bent, who although has been in storming pre-season form has hardly taken the EPL by storm. (although will get more of a chance this season)

Just out of interest, which Podcasts do you guys listen to (other than YF)???
There is only one football podcast worth listening to (other than the YF's) and it is the Guardian's football weekly hosted by the magnificent James Richardson. Anyone who hasn't heard it before here is the link:

Great banter in there also, particularly between Richardson and the disgruntled Irishman Glenndenning (although he isn't on the first pod of the 08/09 season). The Pod focuses on the EPL but also does roundups of La Liga, Serie A and also occasionally the Bundesliga and Ligue 1. They also occasionally have other well known football journalists come in to discuss South American and Eastern European football from time to time as well.

The Guardian football podcast is indeed the best by far. Not sure if it's still available but check out Danny Baker/Danny Kelly's football podcasts from last season. Side splitting stuff if you can get hold of it. There are links on their Facebook page if you can't find it. I also recommend the BBC's Non-League Football Show which is a weekly podcast.
I agree, the Guardian is excellent. And yeah Barry Glendenning is brilliant, never quite the same when he's not there.

Pavlyuchenko scored three goals for Russia at Euro 2008
Spartak Moscow have told BBC Sport that striker Roman Pavlyuchenko is poised to join Premier League side Tottenham.
"A deal has been agreed between the clubs and the transfer may be concluded by Thursday," said a club spokesman.
The 26-year-old Pavlyuchenko, a Russian international, is still in Moscow awaiting a visa that will allow him to travel to London to complete the move.
"Right now I'm getting my visa and as soon as it is ready I will fly to England to sign a contract," he said.
"Everything has happened very quickly so I could not even say goodbye to my team-mates."
BBC Sport understands that the deal is not yet a formality but Spartak's general manager Valery Karpin told Russian newspaper Soviet Sport that Pavlyuchenko was on his way to White Hart Lane.
"There is a concrete sum which Tottenham proposed and we have agreed the amount," he said.
"If Roman will agree a contract then we are ready to let him go. If Roman begins to play in England, this will be good both for him and for the team."

Pavlyuchenko was Russia's top scorer at Euro 2008 with three goals as they reached the semi-finals. He also netted twice in a 2-1 win over England in a qualifying match in October last year.
"I could not decide if I wanted to go to England at first - first yes, then no," added Pavlyuchenko.
"The only thing that stopped me from leaving was my family. But now all doubts are behind me and I decided to sign a contract with Tottenham and the formalities are practically settled."
Spurs have been searching for a striker as a replacement for Robbie Keane, who joined Liverpool for �20.3m this summer, while Dimitar Berbatov looks set to leave the club before the end of the current transfer window on 1 September.
The Bulgaria striker has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and did not feature in the 2-1 defeat at home to Sunderland on Saturday.
