Whats with Drogba these days? I never really liked him anyway, but he isn't doing much for you boys! Looks like he has already left, completely uninterested.. And boy can he dive..

Funny that, i thought he'd curbed it somewhat from when he first came to the Premiership.

On a side note, how many times did Gerrard dive tonight and how many times did the commentators pull him up for it?

I wouldn't call it sour Gooner. I mean i just get pissed off when biased Liverpool (or England fans in some cases) fail to see passed their blinkered eyes that they have a compulsive diver amongst their ranks but continue to live in denial about it.

Agree, playing like prat, so moody and maybe better when he goes. Playing like he did in his 1st season here.....crap...... but still capable of scoring from nothing at any moment.

all of the teams have their token diver.
chelsea have drogba, man u have cronaldo, liverpool have gerrard (torres) and arsenal have ebou.  only arsenal are smart enough to generally keep theirs on the bench when possible.

I was actually happy to see you guys get the equaliser. I only saw the last 20 minutes and was watching it with a scouser workmate. He threw his toys when the own goal went it
On another note, has anyone noticed how many times Macherano gets away with late blatant tackles and never gets carded. He did it against us and also this morning. Can't remember who the Chelsea player was but it was about knee high.

Quite true, people talk alot about Torres as being a diver, but Gerrard (the English master) does it all too often. I often see Torres taking a kick and if he can stumbling to regather himself or such. But anyway, dont want to hijack the chelsea thread now do we! Lucky draw today, im not so sure about Frank claim a deserved draw, but the next round will be interesting for sure.. Good luck!

Hey boys, three years ago we lost to the goal that never was, last year it was penalties.  I think we've earned our luck at Anfield however comical it was.

Some interesting points about Drogba.  He's not the same player this year and he was going down at every opportunity this morning.  It's annoying for us too.  Remember Chelsea fans started booing him in his first season when they thought he was blatantly cheating?  Yes, I was also amazed that Madscherano didn't get booked for his high tackle late on or that the ref pulled Terry up for fouling Reina when he had his back to him.  Other than that I thought the ref had a good game and got the big calls right i.e. Carragher on Drogba first half.

That said, the Drog will probably have a stormer in the second leg! He's overdue one.

Must say i thought the starting 11 and substitutions where poor again from Grant. Maluda was woeful, Ferrairra non existant and i think Makalele should be moved on at the end of the season he's well passed his sell by date. With Drogba, j Cole and Lampard well below thier best it's amazing we got anything out of this game. I can't work out why you would take off Ballack and leave on Makalele when chasing the game, the substitution of Cole instead of Maluda is bewildering but at least he brought on Kalou. His team selections look hit and miss for the big games and only in the Arsenal game did he get things right, his substitutions tend to hinder the team more than help it, were relying on luck at the moment to get by and we'll need a sh*t load on saturday if we perform like that again

Starting to think Grant may not be the problem, part of it yes but which Chelsea players are in form now - hard to pick many - Essien and Cech ? yes. Agree, playing Malouda is like having only 10 on the pitch [ he did have a shot against Liverpool which is the most he has done for months]. Drobga, Ballack,Lampard need more imput,Makalele is past his best.Fact is we havn't perform all season to any consistent level, but still fine ourselfs 2nd in the league, and close to a CPL final . Is Grant the only problem ?

I think Grant must be the problem, j Cole and SWP sudden loss in form came around when he started to mess around with them, he seems to rotate the form players so they lose form if you get my drift. Dropping Alex for Terry when he was one of our best two players was a disgrace and playing an unfit Lampard and subing Essien were two decsions that cost us the Carling cup in my book. With us now in a great position to reach the champions league final and still in the hunt for the league it shouldn't be hard to motivate players but in recent games some players look like they have nothing to play for, i believe this comes down to the manager its his job to keep them focused. Under Jose we never lacked passion as a team but Grant comes across more like an undertaker than a football manager this lack of passion must rub off on the players. If Steve Clarke was to leave ( i hope he stays after Grant is gone) i suspect the whole squad would fall apart, he is given very little credit for what's happening at the moment and so far Grant has acheived nothing that Jose didn't except lose the two trophys we won last season.

Malouda is the biggest mystery to me.  I was astonished to see him in the starting line up mid-week.  A huge and massive disappointment this season.

I hope Frankie can pick himself up for the next two games - although I will fully understand if he doesn't play tomorrow.

Malouda is the forgotten man at chelsea, Jose signed him as a replacement for Robben but he was always surplus to requirements with Kalou, swp and j Cole all looking far better. After hardly being involved all season its mind-boggling to have him thrown in for crucial games and expecting him to produce the goods, especially as better options were available.

The treatment of Anelka has also got me wondering what Grant's upto, his one signing so far(and a good one) and he hardly gets a run. The only time he gets to team up with Drogba is in the last ten minutes of most games. We should have been playing 4-4-2 with Drogba and Anelka up front when Anelka first signed, its too late to experiment with this now and Grant lost his chance.

I think Frank should sit out the next couple of games as his head won't be in it(understandably), and Essien is back for both games so we are covered

Will be a bonus for us if Vidic is out as i fancy our chances more against Rio and Brown

Thanks LGM.  Nice touch by the players after the first goal to parade a shirt with her name on.

Great win by the boys all in all and well deserved.  Fantastic first half, as good as I've seen this season, then we let Utd back in a bit in the second half and it was no surprise when they scored although we gave it to Rooney on a plate.  Then sheer guts and determination got us back in front.  We definitely wanted it more than they did and it was all to predictable seeing Fergie's rants after the game - dodgy pen, Ronaldo targetted, Drogba deliberately kicking Vidic in the face.  Have a look at the team you picked mate - that's where you lost it.

I have no doubt the Mancs will sew up the league in due course.  Although if West Ham can pull off their usual result we may have a sniff assuming we don't struggle at Newcastle.  It was just nice to beat those t**sers again and show them they aren't as great as they think they are.

Best Chelsea team performance for a long time, 1st 20 minutes should have been 3 up.All the players finally step up to the mark with Essien outstanding. Was a top game with  Utd playing better in the second half but Chelsea found a more direct stlye of play to fully derserve the 3  points and keep the Premiership alive  Go you BLUES

PS Grants team selection was on the money,

Not as embarrassed as Ferdinand -  kicking a female ground steward as he left the pitch, top class style from the so called  England captain.

but definitely not as embarrassed as the Chelsea heirachy, insulting Evra and picking a fight with the united players after the game, even after a win? nice work guys

o and for the record, it was an accident by ferdinand and she was not hurt, and he profusely apologised, weak call.

Can't believe we're in the final at last.  Another fantastic performance of guts and determination to get us through.  Drogs was huge - what was Rafa thinking sl*gging him off?  But quality all over the pitch from Terry, Carvalho, Essien, Lamps, Cech, Ballack, Macca. Even Kalou stepped up.  All personified by Frank's ballsy penalty.  Still brings a lump to my throat.

Bring on the the Scum again.
