That Calvin Lee must be some player. Last time I looked Dilworth School play in the Auckland SS 3rd tier.
Looking at his footage and the ones to the right , he does an amazing job of marketing himself if the thousands of views and calling himself a New Zealand under 19 player are anything to go by! Good luck to him as he seeks higher honours.
Calvin Lee - great wall of China/Berlin at the back. Be interesting to see if China u23 pick him up in the future?
As for the two tiers of NZ representation - a match of NZSS vs NZ u17 or u20 hopefuls would be an interesting watch.

Captained the Dilworth side this year so maybe bigger focus on school football this season.. Saw his name on a number of NRFL matchday programs though.
Kid looks very good technically and has saved Dilworth on many occasions this year in A3. From memory, made some good saves against Central reserves and in their 2-0 win against Forrest Hill Milford away at Becroft.
Indeed, will be interesting to see his development with China youth and higher honours.
Why on Earth would China be even remotely interested in a not-very-tall keeper who isn't playing any great level of football in NZ? Pretty fanciful stuff. I would wager that a country with a shark ton of money and a shark ton of people would have their own goalkeepers

Know for a fact he chose to play for suburbs due to flexibility with school. Continues to develop hugely.. was offered to transfer and play first team football in both the NRFL Division 1 and 2 during this season but chose to stay at Madills Farm for better coaching and training.
A relative unknown having been self taught up until the age of 14. Quickly progressed through Auckland FTC however, was nominated for NTC after one session at FTC, and then travelled out of the country to pursue a training spell at Aspire Academy in Qatar, training with Qatar U16 & U17. Given his late rise in football, a couple more years of development (late father was a professional GK in China) and there's no reason why we couldn't see him involved in some way in the Chinese youth system.
Had he not been on a full scholarship at Dilworth since year 9 and further appointed Head Boy of Dilworth this year, he would've moved to a Premier League school for sure... MAGS were calling among others after he was selected into this NZSS U19 squad.

Thanks for sharing this. This is just the type of insight and background knowledge football fans on this forum love to read about. I imagine going up through the ranks as a GK is an emotional journey for Calvin given his family background.
