What is wrong with me? Insanity? Depression? Fear? Am i dying?

I don't take any hard drugs and am only a moderate drinker.

Sometimes it can provide me with amusement but mostly it annoys me and i wish they would stop.

Help.

Yes.

Oh and before anyone has a dig, like the old saying goes 'sometimes it's easier to open up to a stranger', so that is what i am doing.

Thank you to those who have responded in this thread and to those who have PMed me too. Your help is appreciated. I believe the first step is telling those close to me and i will do this tomorrow when the time is right. Then we shall approach the situation from there, at least i won't be dealing with it alone then.

Once again thanks for the help. As always any further advice on the topic is greatly encouraged by myself.

More importantly what are they saying?

SB - I have an appointment with my family doctor tomorrow afternoon, scheduled the appointment after telling close family and friends. Bit worried tbh. Hopefully all goes well.

Sanday - It varies from good to bad. The last 'episode' i had was really bad and freaked me out enough to seek help, so maybe in the long run this was a good thing (i hope)

Will let you know how it all goes tomorrow, Cheers.

Do you have persona's or identities you associate with the voices?
Do they represent emotions or feelings that are somewhat suppressed?
I do recall you recently went through a break up with a girlfriend? do you think there may be a link?

Not sure how to answer the persona/identity question.

They do however represent various feelings or emotions, like i said in my previous post these can vary so sometimes good but it can be quite bad and angry which leads to me getting into a state of mind where i may want to do something stupid.

Perhaps there is a link with my most recent break up as it affected me more than i should of let it, but i think there is plenty more to it than that. Maybe i need to open up more often. I'm not sure what the exact problem is i think it's a combination of many things which is why i am seeing the doc tomorrow.

Best of luck at the Doc, Buffy.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Buff, if you are perscribed medical, take the stuff, I've seen too many who dont take it and the after effects from not taking it. It is manageable. PM me if you want to.

Ok. Just returned from the doc not long ago. It wasn't as scary as i thought it would be. He just asked me some routine questions e.g. when did these voices first occur? how badly do you feel it affects your day to day life? and what are your sleeping patterns like?. He has referred me to a psychiatrist/counselor (or whatever else you want to call them) as they will be better suited to help my condition.

That's about all for now. Thank you for all your support.

Yeah, or shrink. I'm sure there's plenty of names for them. Basically better put 'someone who is more qualified and therefore in a better position to assess my mental health'.

Thanks SB. I have my first appointment on Thursday afternoon with this psychiatrist. Bit nervous as i'm not sure just how 'probing' he will be during our first session. Still, it's better than bottling it up isn't it?

Absolutely bro. Few years back before I headed overseas I had some issues i'd left alone which resulted in a panic attack and a couple of sessions with a shrink. Was really good as they kind of just try and guide you through the process and are very gentle...you'll be sweet.

Just remeber, if they're being a tossa, look at him and scream "WHO ARE YA?" and storm out. It won't get you anywhere, but i'd love to see the look on their face!

Yeah, those people are generally really good and helpful about all kinds of sh*t. Just go, tell them the truth and I'm sure they'll be able to help. Hope it goes well, mate.

Phew. Well that was interesting. After a brief intro with each other my psychiatrist jumped straight into my recent history to try and scratch the surface with any deep lying problems that exist within me. I'll choose not to go into details about what these problems are on here but i can say that she said it will take a bit of work to get my house back in order so to speak.

Anyway i haven't been prescribed to take any pills so that must be a plus, and my next scheduled appointment is next Tuesday afternoon. Should all be up from here guys
