2-1 loss.  Closer than I expected.  Didn't look particularly threatening in front of goal but held their own over the rest of the park.  First goal conceded was both offside and a defensive howler.  A draw wouldn't have been an unfair result but Suburbs probably shaded it just.

Agree with News. I thought the Weenix Midfield competed pretty well on the whole. What a STELLAR day, so enjoyable watching football at DaveyF in perfect conditions.

Sunshine, blue skies, great BBQ, & good football. The only downers were that the Weenix didn't get a result & the F Bomb-a-thon.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

This is the offside call from when Rogerson's goal was ruled out for offside. Looks marginally offside to me.

Is this the one the keeper save the shot 1 handed and parries it to Rogerson's feet . If so from memory the flag went up after the goal was scored. to me at BBQ and poor under standing of "ball played by a defender to a player in offside position" should goal have stood - Ref. (looked onside to me live from BBQ)

Yes thats the one. "ball played by a defender to a player in offside position" isn't the law thats applied here, it's a deliberate save by the goalkeeper which means player needed to be onside when initial ball was crossed/shot in.

Offside flag only goes up once an offence has been comitted, i.e. Rogerson touched the ball, which will be why flag didnt go up when the shot was made.

It was Max Mata's goal ruled offside.

Fair dues. Well done Weenix. You guys are growing up fast. Older players talking smack won't phase you in the future. Good practice for higher honours.

What? This clearly comes off Rogerson's shoulder.

Saw the highlights from the game against Canterbury. Down to 9 men after two players sent off and lost easily in the end. The goal was fantastic team work though. The goalie basically got baited by the Canterbury player into getting sent off.

Youngster.  He'll learn.  By the end they weredown to the clubs 5th choice keeper, had lost their captain and had half a side of NYL U-17s.

Shame about the sending offs but competitive until then despite being well under  strength.

Keeper was Youth team's Keegan Smith. I saw him in the game where the Peeweenix beat Teedubs 5-1 and he was gutted that they scored 1. Aaron Mcdonald scored a great goal and there wasn't much he could do about it but he was still pissed - good to see.

he was baited, think he will call it a learning experience

Highlights didn't really do justice to the young Phoenix team. They played some brilliant football early on but sending off changed all that. The two yellows for the Phoenix right back were amongst the softest I've seen. If the ref had been consistent game would probably have ended with multiple reds for both sides. Highlight for me was Joe Bell's performance in midfield. Made Clapham look pretty average at times. And just for the record I was at game as a Canterbury supporter.

WeeNix have a bunch of first team players playing for them this weekend. Rufer, Ridenton, Italiano and two others yet to be confirmed (probably Fox and Lowry/Litfin). Going to be a cracker of a game against ACFC.

Watching the game while I study.

Rogerson is good. Like, really fudgeing good. He's the best player on the pitch by a long, long way. He needs a decent crack at the first XI cos he really could be something special.

Judging by the highlights, the WeeNix are an epic counter-attacking side.

I thought James McGarry was injured long term, was it not as bad as first thought? Good to see him out there. He always seems to be a stand out in any game he plays
