I'm sorry but that's fudgeing ridiculous. It's not like we're facing the best player in the world. I'm already spending upwards of $100 to get down adnd back from the game. $95 to stand behind the corner flag is stupid. Are there at least any student tickets or is it just adult and children?

think you are right here, I have several friends who don't really care about football but all signed up for the waitlist when they saw it could be Argentina we'd play. They wouldn't have though twice about paying $95 for teh chance to see Messi, they probably won't bother with Peru

Out of interest, what price did people expect for a once in four years game as big as this? Cheapest Lions test ticket was $150 and you'd struggle to find many popular concert tickets at these prices either. Not that they are necessarily all aimed at the same people but it doesn't seem outrageous compared with other big events here.

it's purely a name change. They are still the middle of the pack. Platium at halfway. Silver behind the goal.

I would expect it to be similar to the last game, 4 years ago. Why am I paying Gold-tier tickets for an aisle that's always been silver-tiered, as it was 4 years ago? I could probably fly to Australia, and go watch their play-off for cheaper.

Adding to this, what constitutes the price hike between now and Mexico? Have we got a better chance of qualifying? Have we got a better squad? Have they got a more exciting squad than Mexico?

I guess I'm mostly annoyed that 'White Noise' is an experience for those who don't normally come to football to get to be a part of, NZF leveraging our loyalty and support and making us pay for it. And some how it's now a Gold class price, yet is Silver level seating.

Edited after reading other comments about the seating.

As 2ndBest said the -> Gold/Silver thing is a red herring.  They just changed the labelling, it is still the mid tier ticket.  Why NZ Football thought that changing the names was good idea I have no idea but with the current administration it's hardly a shock they didn't think of the implications.

The 60% price increase vs Mexico however...

Someone should tell Ticketek that there is no such thing is a 'per ticket transaction fee'!  It's either a per ticket fee, or a transaction fee. It can't be both!

As a student that $95 price point really hurts :(. I was expecting in the range of $60-$80 but $95 is pretty bad. It's hard enough trying to encourage my student mates to attend let alone anyone with decent coin to a football match.

I see alot of students attending one off bug music concerts and I know for a fact that it wouldn't cost $95 probably more. my point is its a good price range across the board to watch a one off WC qualifier in this country especially playing a 12 ranked country.

100 percent agree with this. I had a handful of rowdy mates from uni ready to go for this. There is no way they will now pay 95 for a ticket in WN when they can pay for something cheaper in the stadium, or just wont bother at all now.

Good luck on the sell out andy Martin.

Am in the same boat, it is already costing me a fair bit for flights accommodation and food and drink for 4 days. Going to have to buy tickets in the silver zone unfortunately.

Whats the bet you will get a lot of the general public getting tickets in the white noise zone and not realizing that its for standing and not sitting

Play-off, Priced-out...

ITBOTN wrote:

I suppose we were warned.

Andy Martin’s comments that failure to qualify would require New Zealand Football to reduce its spending on international friendlies in future did have the faint clang of doom about it. So too did Billy Harris’ column advocating $100 tickets for the New Zealand v Peru Intercontinental Playoff because it’d bring money into New Zealand Football as a softener if we failed to get past Peru.

Over the weekend I’ve been messaging back and forth with ITBOTN bossman Enzo Giordani about driving down to Wellington, what with flights rocketing up to $250 each way for the dates surrounding the qualifier on the 11th. At the same time, elsewhere, organising buying a few tickets together so some fellow Aucklanders with a keen interest in the beautiful game can all sit together. In 2013 tickets were $60 a head. Anything around that would do.

TL;DR version

Charging THREE TIMES what Australia charges for their active support is crazy.

New Zealand Football is trying to make bank because they don't reckon we're going to do it.

Given the fiasco over people in the White Noise section with $20 tickets in Auckland, imagine how hufty folk will get if they've splashed $100 on their tickets.

Good point. To be fair its not really my job to encourage them to attend the WN zone was just hoping we get lots of support for our NT. I hope those that can afford it can attend and make some decent noise for the rest of us, if I had the money I would. Hopefully I'll be able to negotiate with the Mrs Sancho to settle for a Silver in the meantime.

Good point. Has there been any communication from NZF around what happened there? I'll be livid if I end up paying $95 to be told to sit down and shut up because the general public end up buying WF tickets without knowing what they are?

I think that’s the idea behind the white noise presale code mentioned on the first post of this thread.

So I guess stay tuned to the forum for the release of the code at some point if you’re looking to buy into the White Noise Zone.

Anyway this is clearly cynical "surge pricing" from NZF.

1) See how many people will pay $95 a ticket.

2) If they haven't sold out by 4th November, cut prices in half.

3) ???

4) PROFIT

Hopefully with the presale, there will be enough active supporters grouped together before it gets to the general sale stage.

I think it’ll work out fine, security at Westpac are a lot better to us than they are at QBE.

I doubt they will do that.

If the game sells out how can anyone criticise NZF? Surely no one doubts that they actually need the money, right? Surely no one thinks the money will be siphoned out by corruption? It's easy to call NZF greedy. The NZRU charges an arm and a leg for tests but then puts a lot of that money back into the community

How about setting up an alternative White Noise zone in the cheap seats?

Would it be possible for everyone to select the same aisle for it when buying tickets?

Or is that idea doomed to be chaos?

My only issue is classing tickets behind the goal line (like white noise) as gold (formerly silver).

Otherwise I agree, if/when it sells out then they’ve set the prices at the correct level.

they won't cut prices in half - imagine the outcry if you'd bought a $95 ticket and they went and did that

if they haven't sold out come 4th november they will launch a big marketing push

I think they will sell out but it will take to the last week (or even the day)
