You'd have to be braver than me to head out there given the weather forecast today.

It's not terrible right now in Whitby so I'll just hold out hope that I don't come home drenched. Although I've just seen the weather forecast and chances are that'll be the case. Hopefully the clubrooms are open.

WPX (4-2-2-2) Marinovic Hudson-Wihongi, McGing, DeVere, Cacace Rufer, Payne Devlin, McCowatt Sotirio, Waine

Taylor, Ball and Davilla all rested. Same formation as last week.

Marinovic, Hudson-Wihongi, McGing, DeVere, Cacace, Rufer, Payne, Devlin, McCowatt, Sotirio, Waine was the lineup.

Looks like we used the game to practice playing against the big teams. Focus was mainly on full team defence and we let Wests have most of the ball.

No real stand-outs today. Hard to play in those conditions. But I thought Devlin was a lot better than he was against Wairarapa (still nowhere near looking like a Burgess improvement like Piney was saying) and Sotirio was really really average.

Terrible pen. Slow, down the middle and at the height keepers love. There’s one name to cross off the penalty taker list.

tbf Burgess didn't really kick on till the second half of the season so Devlin does have the potential to be an improved Burgess

The Wairarapa match was quite clearly the ceiling of his career. That's as good as he can be so of course we have to rate him accordingly.

Really wish we could get 4-5 goals out of our defensive midfielders during the season proper, it would take so much pressure off the forwards.

Tim Payne used to have the knack of scoring goals.

If they are actually DM's, then not really their jobs is it? If an 8 or a b2b mid then sure.

What about Roy Keane, no goal in Turin, no Champions League Final, no triple Crown, everyone can score, even Taylor last year.

I think we can hope that our goals (other than the ST's) will come from the wide CAM's and DeVere/Taylor from set pieces tbh

Sure, but it's not an expectation.

He was a box to box mid, especially in his early career - amazing engine.
