Ok L to R - people help me out here:

?, Aidan Wivall (S&C Coach), McCowatt, Taylor, Tom Scott (Lower Hutt player), Devlin, Elliot, Walter Scott, Ball, DeVere, Davila (obscured), McGing, Rufer, Semmy (obscured), Waine, TAHW, Sotirio, Payne, Cacace.

No sign of Sail or Marinovic, nor Fenton (still injured?).

I don't recognise the No. 3 far left, but think he's the only unknown to me there.

The keepers are most likely working in their own group

We should throw money at Leroy George. Is what we need in the winger spot and was one of MV's best ever imports imo.

JHS has broke some bones in his foot & is out for up to 12 weeks, so that rules him out of any Nix trial (if he was going too get one)

Well in that case he's not playing badly is he?

for the best at this point. We need our imports to hit the mark, don't really feel we have the luxury of taking such a big risk after the complete squad overhaul we have had

Does this mean we've got our imports ready to be confirmed?

Hope Semmy goes back to the Handy and has a ripper season, and maybe put himself in the mix for next season.

Got to be a good sign if all the other trialists have been released. Talay must be confident in bringing in better quality. Still 2 import spots + another 2 or 3 places available.

Every import who isn't coming from another A League club is a big risk though if you look at the history of imports not just for us but for all A League teams. Experience in European leagues or whatever is no guarantee of success in the A League. Semmy would be less of a risk because at least he's settled in NZ already and would be cheaper.  I think it's actually more of a gamble to hold out to sign someone else in that import slot. Not necessarily a bad decision because you might get an ifill or something but on the the other hand you might get a Sarpong. I don't think it's less risky though

A target man doesn't really fit in with the formation we are gonna set up in.

Going off what others have said about the game last night, this is how I guess we are looking right now

There are 3 areas that jump out as needing those last two visa slots. I would go for visas to replace Sotirio and Devlin, however another senior DM would be nice to have. TAHW can push forward into a DM role but for such a vital area of the park, we are really lacking experience at this level.

Ball and Payne were both on the left side of their pair not the right, not that it's a major

Fun Friday Afternoon Game: Add any A-League Player to this line-up

I'd replace Sotirio with Toivonen. Could argue we don't need a target man with two up front but could drop him a little deeper in behind Ball.

Or Leroy George.

He's looking for a new club.

It wouldn't be so bad if they limited their drinking to the pub, but they drink on the park as well!

Andy Keogh (if he becomes an Aussie in a few weeks) would be ideal.

Whilst he is a very good player, I dunno if he would suit our system. He plays best being the 1 in a 4-5-1 and struggles when paired up with someone.

he never really looked as dangerous at perth when he played in a two with Taggart, I felt.

I reckon he would be a good shout. He is quick enough, works hard and has enough of an all-round game to be useful. As a local that would be very useful. Also, with both Taggart and Maclaren he has gotten into double figures for goals.

Once he becomes an Aussie he will be in demand with the Australian clubs, and I doubt that the first place he'd choose to play for would be New Zealand.

This thread has been pretty light on speculation so I'm going to make some up because I need some hope we're going to sign some players.

My nieces Aunts brother-in-law told me that we're signing Balotelli

Two more import players will bring the squad to 19/23. Probably looking at an additional 3 Kiwi/Australian players to meet league requirements of squad size and cap spend. No real way to predict the imports, but there's really only a small list of local players that could be a genuine option.

In terms of Aussie players, it would surely have to be dipping into the NPL. There are barely any pro players left without a club, best of the bunch would be Aryn Williams and Chris Herd who have just finished stints in the Indian league after not so convincing A-League seasons, so that sums that up.

Uffie said a few weeks ago we were talking to a couple of Kiwi players overseas. There aren't many of them, so surely it we've been in contact with at least one of these players:Elliot Collier, Clayton Lewis, Nikko Boxall, Ryan de Vries, Marco Rojas, Jeremy Brockie, Decklan Wynne, Bill Tuiloma, James Musa. You'd have to say Rojas and Tuiloma would be pretty unlikely to come to the nix, but I'd be interested in any of those coming to Wellington except Brockie.
