Does TAHW have a good left foot?

Talay mentioned on last week's pod that he likes a left & right footed CB combo, and Laws has a good left peg.

Taylor is really being missed. But can't do much about that. Though Marinovic, Laws & DeVere working on their communication would help. Seems to be of the 3, young Laws does the most talking.

So we have found the best position for Sotorio. On the bench till the 75th minute then supersubbed on to score without using thought but using instinct.

I'm glad VAR didn't pick up on his jersey pull to get past that defender to score. Nick Waldrom would've seen it.

Classic game of two halves, we were excellent first half and bossed the middle and then 2nd half we looked gassed as they came home strong..... concerning how dominant they were in the air, every time a cross came in they looked like scoring. McGarry was excellent again (aside from his defensive lapse), has great technique and very comfortable on the ball. Rufer was finding Davila in good pockets through the middle early on and good to see Hemed involved for the goal although we somehow need to bring him into the game more.

Laws and Devere make me nervous, Devere had some horrible turnovers and Laws doesn't seem to be a natural CB with his positioning. We need a dominant presence back there like an NTS or Wilkinson if we are going to be a real contender.

Sotirio did the job Talay wants from him, he is what he is and can deliver the goods when required. We can't expect him to be a consistent goal threat and good option taker but he will stretch defences and score the odd crucial goal and that's all that mattered yesterday!

very soft if it did get called, both players were contesting for position, sotirio didnt really pull the defender he has a handful of shirt for sure but so did the defender.

More crosses from Payne and McGarry? Push Davila or Lewis into the box when those crosses come in (more problems for opposition defenders). Hemed is a great aerial threat. Shame that we have not been using that to our advantage.

We have also found the best position for Ridenton. On the bench and not getting on.

Pretty harsh, he started last game because Rufer was on suspension. He's up to A league standard and a decent back up player for injuries, etc, and likely on low wages. I thought he has done okay both times he has played this season.

Sotorio is good for the balance of the team... otherwise we are pretty slow. If he had his pace but great skill/football intelligence he would be in a better league. Ball running non stop for 75 mins probably helps to tire the other team, so Sotorio coming on against tired defences seems like a good role for him.

Also don't understand the Marinovic hate (unless it's just Royz trolling), he was one of the best keepers in the league last year. A few games not at his best isn't reason to drop him.

I actually think Marinovic looks like he isn't at the races at all. Made more crazy decisions than he did all last season.  I'm hoping it's just a confidence thing or phase he's going through.  I wouldn't be averse to trying Sail but christ, the back line (including keeper) need to get their heads out of their arses and start communicating / playing. Can't play through the season the way they are.

I think its a bit of a collective thing, The leadership hole left by Taylors departure was going to take time to rectify. Hopefully they are getting it sorted. Swapping and changing personnel is not going to help. But would like to see TAHW continue to get minutes at the back end of games.

Against CCM, I noted that our wingbacks didn't bomb up the lines that much. Were they trying to play it a lot tighter after the transition goals leaked against the Jets.

Yes on poor wages because he is a poor player at A League level

Look I wasn't trolling, Marinovic looks fat and slow and has cost us a few goals(and games) which last season he would have saved , maybe it was the quarantine time out i don't know but i think its only fair to give Sail ago in goal. He is taller and thinner and did well in preseason unlike someone we know.

With the hit in TV money and lower wages I doubt we can afford to have Steve Taylor back even if Talay ask the club will say no again to spending more money.

Royz is right on Marinovich this season... has made a poor start and cost us goals. Sail has always performed when given the chance, perhaps he deserves another one.

Sail is a fine goalkeeper, but if he played in as many games as Marinovic overall, perhaps we would also see some bum efforts crop up.
The question is whether this couple of loose goals against us were because of Marinovic errors or because of defensive errors. If the latter, then changing the goalie would not help much and we would end up ganging up on Sail "letting us down" before too long.

If we do not score very much then at least we should not let the other side score much, or at all.  How we get there is another question.

Almost feels like it's a bit of a vicious circle. Defence don't have confidence in the keeper because he's making comments, but the keeper is nervous and under more pressure because the defence aren't as communicative or robust as last season. As you say, how we get to the point of limiting the opposition is one for the management team to work out.

keeper and defenders are a unit, their performances rely on each other. At the moment, the apparent lack of communication between CB and keeper seems to be letting us down. Taylor had the back line working well and he was vocal, as was Dura. De Vere seems to be very quiet and laws is only really learning his trade. There is simply no line of communication through the middle of the park. The keeper to and from the CB, who in turn tlaks to the midfielders.
