Yeah, of course it should be a vote. I'm merely advocating that we choose music which is associated with our fair city. If we do decide to get an anthem I really don't want to end up with some European imitation like never walk alone, some overused kiwi classic like slice of heaven, or something absolutely terrible like that bang bang song that the Rugby uses.

Good idea discussed a number of times.Sadly no consensus has ever been reached.Over the years suggestions have varied often some suggesting some obscure tune that few recognize or some Kiwi standard that has been put aside as it was used at the cricket/rugby or people just didnt like the original.

Personaly have always felt it needed to be something fairly simple that the casual attendee could also recognize.

it would also be good to have vote on who we think should play in each position each match so we can compare it to the coaches pick.

one team vote per member in by thursday on form including the weetbix '1st reserves'. we are their biggest critics

How would you all feel if the Nix went after Peter Taylor as our coach?

I'm not too sure about that one LG. Yes he was a great Spin bowler and took many vital wickets for Australia over the years but I am not convinced that the Phoenix would benefit much from having him at the helm.

Although, that moustache...

Right now we need "Bridge over Troubled Water"

and a decent DM and FB.

I also want to know what the heck is it that Rufer needs to do, according to Greenacre.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

look at his record, he's never done anything significant, he can't get a top level job in England (his 1 game in charge of England was by default), why else has he taken the NZ assistants job (apart from being Hudson's pal). He is actually a decent coach at U21 level and probably a good assistant but not a top level boss.

The Nix need someone who will change the entire culture of the club, that's not Peter Taylor

What was interesting was Buckinghams comments after the game, something like that the young players were more vocal at training and felt more comfortable stepping up without the senior players there. A lot of people have said that the players looked like they were enjoying themselves more, and it was noticeable that without Moss and Durante there was a lot less yelling on the field.

Is this much vaunted leadership group actually intimidating to our young players and demoralising the team?

Great post Ryan. We've danced around it all year about the team dynamics and I'm pleased we're getting some discussion on it now in the face of a pretty good result while our stars were away and a few other little things like the Parkhouse illness, the Buckingham serve and the Moss comments. It would be great to get some good insider information and a couple of our amateur psychoanalysts putting their views forward.

There's bound to be a syndrome that fits the situation.

Or, they had to take more responsibility themselves - come out of their shells.

To be fair I don't think that Moss would be yelling at too many players if they were 5 zip up

There's certainly some generation gap there.

It's up to the coach and manager to dictate the culture in the team too...through the off the ball rules in the group, fines, forfeits etc etc...

I don't know if I quite agree with Ryan. But surely in any situation on the field you would defer to Mossy and Dura with their mana? And it should be noted Dura was a key part in our shape in Fiji and our defensive strength there.

Certainly if you have one game to start there is a lot of incentive. I think we got a lot of out of Watson, for example when he was playing for his contract. Not that he doesn't give his all now, but his intent was certainly visible then.

We and the Jets were also, let's face it, playing a dead rubber. The season is over. It's been a poor one for both clubs. Our players had a bit more motivation and momentum than theirs.

It wasn't a statement it was just a question, and it turned out that I misheard the quote anyway. Des said something more along the line of without the senior players there it allowed the younger players to step up where they probably wouldn't have with the senior team.

"Video analysis was one key thing. The games where we've been able to review at halftime what has worked well and what hasn't with our video analyst, Valerio Raccuglia, who left for Samoa, we've not yet replaced him, so we've not been able to video our sessions at trainings and do that instant feedback in games that was really useful.

"Those little things, there were probably two or three of those key areas, they make a big difference, especially in a 23-man squad, salary cap league."

So they need someone to watch the games on TV and give real time feedback on how the team is performing? They should just read the forum match threads...
