Like I said, it depends on whether the outside two black stripes count or are continuations of the wings from above the "Wellington" part... I didn't mean 12 and 13th Black stripes in that there were 12 or 13 black stripes... I mean the 12th and 13th stripe (some of which are yellow) and these last two, the 12th and 123th ones hapopen to be black ones...

Oh, nevermind... okay...

I also like the visual spectacle of flags (banners get a bit boring generally), and I think they can add to the atmosphere.

I disagree about banners. Sometimes a witty and well-timed banner can be the highlight of a match.

My point about banners is that they can be amusing on first reading (remember "David Bain is Guilty" at one match?), but the joke or comment just gets a bit boring from then on. Think of bumper stickers (My other car's a Porsche, Baby on Board (FFS) or Mother in Law in Boot). Provided they get changed and are current, why not? Still prefer flags though......

You will be pleased to learn then that I bought 10 metres of yellow banner making cloth yesterday, in anticipation of chaning/making new banners regularly. And I can get more, the fabric shop welcomes return cuastomers.

My Lochy 101 * banner is certianly not planned to be used again.

If the Roar lose this weekend, you could make a 1.5 metre x 1.5 metre Orange Banner with a big black 2 on one side. Up to you what you put on the back...

Fabric from Arthur toye is 1.5 metres wide. So you'd just buy 2 metres. 1.5 square, plus a bit at each end for the pockets to put the poles in...

1.8 metre by 16 mm garden stakes from Placemakers (or Mitre 10) make good lightweight strong poles. They're about $12 each and the material at Arthur Toyes you can get for about $6 a metre.

I was already thinking about making a few '2' signs again if the Roar lose, would be epic if we could get 50ish of them to hold up in the Zone before the game. Add to that a few banners, and we could have ourselves a tifo. All dpeneds on the Sea Dogs doing us a huge favour tomorrow.

I've decided. Yellow 1.5x1.5m banner, with Manny's face in the style of the Retro Ricki and the word "LEGEND" underneath.

Just getting this in early to allow planning...

For the last home game of the season the big YF banner should say THANKS WELNIX don't you think?

Book-ending the season with THANKS TERRY and THANKS WELNIX seems appropriate to me.

I am keen to get something in this material, as so much easier in the Wellington weather

Actually, come to think of it, a large Phoenix kite would look rather awesome!Ard Righ2012-02-04 18:59:53

The paint on the Lochy 101* banner is just drying.

Tomorrow night I will paint the Siggy Banner for the other side. Not sure if it'll say "HE'S A ROCK", "Siggy the Rock", or Siggy Plays Guitar"... bwtcf2012-02-08 09:10:22
