I've got no idea how this will work out. Reasonable at Ipswich, a bit mental, allegedly, at QPR and then shamrock?

I'd be interested in Hard News and Lonegunmen's thoughts on this, what sort of football, (as a manager), is he known for?

Yes, allegedly head-butted one of his own players at QPR.

Should get on like a house on fire with Muscat.

It's a while back since he was in charge of Town but I quite liked him (remember that since then we've had Keane and Jewell).  At least when he was there you felt that a home grown town player - say Jordan Rhodes - would get a chance.

From memory we played good football under him at times, but on the other side of the world it's hard to tell.

My view of Victory is no different.

Lot of talk about Musc**t, but Victory have clearly stated he was never even considered for the job. He is caretaker for one game only, and it sounds like Magilton is still on trial, and not signed long-term

Dear god he's a c**t.

it is high time a rule was instituted that any import must have demonstrated success in a league with a high tactical level and, for this, the Championship would clearly not comply.

The same championship your fat arse barely got off the bench in?

Let's see the broke Mariners employ Martin O'Neill then shall we.

Watch.  Foster will come back with some comment about SLater playing the man which sage people will agree with ignoring the character assination and general cantery he pulled on Ange 5 or so years ago.

He's a vile toadying little hypocrite.

Hilarious image of Slater's dear old pop weeping into his warm ale.

Accusations of racism are ludicrous but Slater hits the nail on the head when he talks about the pedastal Foster has put himself on, although I would argue that SBS is to blame for that. They created a monster when they started labelling him Mr Football, giving him editorial carte blanche and artificially greying his hair to make him look like an authority figure.

Am awaiting further dung-flinging with glee.

What the f**k is wrong with Melbourne Victory? The Australian Consumer Affairs Dept should insist that they change their name to Melbourne Irony under trades description legislation.

I thought it was interesting that Magilton at least had the balls to sub Kewell off the other night but he's going to need to show a hell of a lot more back-bone to achieve much else this season.

Here's the top three things I think he should tell the Board if he's got enough nuts:

"Hello Board. So I've been here a few weeks now and here's what I think you should do:

1. Get rid of Kewell. Whatever deals have been done, whatever he is meant to bring to the club and the A-League, it just isn't worth it. The problem isn't so much his playing ability it's that he just doesn't have anywhere near the personal qualities or the character to pull off what he's being asked to do. He's just too unlikeable. He is the kind of arrogant, nacissistic personality that divides dressing rooms and inspires derision from fans (our own and others). Worst of all he totally believes his own hype and his complete lack of self-awareness means the problems will only get worse. He is, in a word, unmanageable.

2. Get rid of Kevin Muscat. Go on, I dare you. Make a proper statement about how you want to change the culture and direction of the club. I know everyone here idolises the man but from an objective outsiders point of view - what a c**t! A poisonous cancer at the heart of the club. The truth is that none of you truly respect him, you're just scared of him. Keeping him around just makes everybody else feel uncomfortable and ashamed of themselves for putting up with it. You're all like the neighbours who know the guy next door beats his wife but never step in and do anything about it. He's like a vampire sucking the life-blood out of the club so that he can live. Cut him loose and let him die.

3. Get rid of me. Seriously, I am so over this sh*t. I'd rather go and get an assistant manager's job at somewhere like Rochdale than put up with any more of this.

OK then, see you on the flippity flop"

Keep Jim and pay out the contracts of Broxham, Pondles, Brebner, and Vargas.

That'd be a start.

Not sure that is a good start, Brebner might be on a decent salary but otherwise I doubt you are freeing up much and you will be replacing duds with duds. Problem is you have too much of the salary cap taken up in the front end of the field. You should never have signed Solorzano and probably not Rojas. IMO you need to cut at least 2 of Alsop, Carlos, Kewell, Rojas and Solorzano to get some quality further back down the field.

You're probably right, but I'm just sick to death of looking at the lot I mentioned tbh. A new batch of duds would be welcome, as I've run out of stuff to shout at this current crop.

Off Contract: Petar Franjic (u21), Grant Brebner, Rodrigo Vargas, Diogo Ferreira, Tommy Pondeljak, Carlos Hernandez (Fgn), Matthew Foschini (u21), Adrian Leijer, Fabio Alves Macedo (Fgn), Ante Covic

They have a couple of them coming off contract, but are stuck with some older average players till next season. The problem for the Victory is there really is not that many good players at other clubs coming off contract to replace them with.

The goalkeeper they would want to keep is the only one off contract. Big call is whether they try to re-sign Carlos. Also Leijer must have a question mark. Fabio has probably done enough despite being foreign. The rest would re-sign at near minimum salary I would imagine, could be decent squad players.

Is decent good enough for an import slot for next season tho?

Victory have 3 import slots for next season open (assuming Solorzano is only a year loan), if they have the salary cap available they could fix up a few problems. Having both marquee's being Aussies does come back to bite them tho.
