You have to wonder who is writing some of these stories. I have just read an article saying they wernt going to go heavy on Victory as they didnt want to cripple them

yeah, I've never really trusted stuff reporting too much. you'd think there'll be some points deducted ratehr than financial penalties if the "survival of the club" is what is important.

Its all a waste of time any way unless they are going to make genuine attempts to stop those banned from getting into games. I hope like shark they dont penalise all active zones because of the actions of a couple of groups.

stopping banned fans into the stadium is up to the staff on the gates on gameday, I'm certain banned fan's photos are all over the place and are identified to staff before tge event. Tough job to pick one banned fan from a group.

But there should be an onus on the VUC or fan groups like OSM to help the stadium staff. Other codes like rugby union & rugby league that play at AAMI Stadium for example don't provide the same problems for the stadium. It's a unique issue to football, and the clubs especially Victory should be helping provide solutions to solve the problem.

Ain't easy for some young kid on a gate to spot banned fans amongst the hordes pushing through the entrances. Could easily be intimidated by it all. Clubs & fan groups need to be part of the answer. Cameras at the entrances, fans having to look directly at the camera, just before the gate, staff watching the cameras in a control room somewhere etc etc etc

There was a big crowd for that Melb derby, so far from easy to pick out banned fans without a well planned security system in place.

Lets face it they havnt been able to stop the flares issue so what chance do they have with banned fans. Im with you there must be people in OSM group who are fully aware of both banned people and the flare throwers  but they choose not to help. Some of their posts before the game were also inflammatory so you have to wonder just what their motive is and do they deserve to sit at the table beside other active fan groups. The same could be said of a couple of other fan groups  whose behavior at times isnt the best either.

Anything interesting happen? In the interest of transparency I'd hoped the club would share a recording with the wider fanbase.

Joey Lynch reporting no disciplinary action for Glover for throwing flare into crowd. Disciplinary panel independent of FA and APL and not sure on process (more details likely to come), but I'm conflicted on this as does this set a precedent for dealing with player/crowd interactions?

I'd be shocked to see Glover receive any punishment, all he did was remove a flare from the ground, the fact it ended up in the crowd where it came from was pure luck.

In Italy if you are banned from the stadium, you need to go to the local police station to sign your name when the game is on. Also, to buy tickets you need to provide your name so if you are banned you can buy one (there are ways around that, but they at least do try to not make it the stadium staff's job to spot banned supporters among the thousands entering the stadium on match day)

Firstly let me say i wasnt a fan of decision the APL made but i do understand better the reasons why.
Nothing we havnt heard before more just an explanation as to why it happened and an admission that it wasnt handled well. We were asked not to say to much as they had other meetings coming up with other fan groups.
What i found interesting is they want to speak to a broad spectrum of fans not just active groups.
What is abundantly clear is the league cannot continue relying on owners to keep making the losses they are even Domey said our owners are sick of the constant stream of money going out.
There is going to have to be some sort of compromise between the League Owners and Active Fans and if active fan groups cant see why then i really do fear for the future of the League.
People are kidding themselves if they think if the A League folds its just going to resurrect its self in another form.

He should not have touched that flare.
I think he new exactly where he thrown that thing, he is goalkeeper.

the flare should not have been on the pitch in the first place, Glover had tossed one from the field before the second one was thrown towards him.
Put the blame where it should be, the "fans" who brought the flares to the game and then threw them at the field. That's solely where blame and punishment shoud remain.

Australian Professional Leagues chief executive Danny Townsend concedes the league still needs to repair the relationship with fans damaged by the drastically unpopular decision to sell the A-Leagues' grand finals to Sydney.
https://twitter.com/footyindustryAU/status/1665243143510568960

City and ALW grand finalists Western United both would have earned the right to host a decider but instead lost to NSW clubs on "neutral" territory.
"People need to move beyond that, right," Townsend said.
"That was the old structure. We have a new structure. The hosting rights is a thing of the past. We have an event. It's a one-off match. A fixed venue. As time passes it's at least over the next three years.
"Everyone needs to come to terms with that."
But the leagues will review the decision to have a two-week lead-in to the decider, which was originally a COVID-19 contingency move.

We just gotta suck it up, according to Danny T

We need to stop beating ourselves up over crowds in the A-League.
They are actually very good compared to some other major leagues in the AFC.
I read recently in World Soccer magazine about the decline of the K-League.
The last pre-pandemic crowd figures averaged only 8000 in 2019.
And that was due to an increase in interest, up from an average of 5000 the previous season.
That makes the A-League men crowds look pretty good.

I think your right. All we really want is a good atmosphere at games. If we had appropriate sized stadiums and teams didn't play at cricket ovals it would help.

This is it really, it's not the size of the crowd that's the problem at all.

I seem to remember there being a great fan experience at Hutt Rec back in the day. Shame thar never became more of a permanent thing.

NIMBY's put an end to that, there was speculation of upgrading it or putting a stadium in Petone, but it all got rained on.

I went to the submissions hearing at the Petone Working Men's Club. Some of the arguments AGAINST having the development were poor and in a couple of cases, embarrassing. The Rugby fans wanted to keep their condemned Stand despite it being written of as an Earthquake risk. You drive past that area now and not one improvement has been made. So much for the Boofheads improving the area.  Yes, it still irks me.
