Just a reminder, North Wellington senior men's  pre season training starts a 6pm this Tuesday at Raroa Intermediate, all welcome.

number of good new players have already committed to the club, come along and join them. New artificial pitch for 2014 guarantees a great playing surface for those that like playing the ball on the deck.

Join a club committed to helping you develop your game to its highest level.

Added bonus of the best toasted sandwiches of any club in Wellington thanks to the cheesy kids :)

Brilliant love a good toastie me.

Who are some of the good new players who have committed to the club?

Toasties are the backbone of the world:)

Can't say to much about them as you never know who is looking to pinch them (you know how some of the higher ranked Wellington clubs are i.e. You're to good for them we will give you a few dollars under the table if you play for us etc.). Suffice to say I expect one of them if he pans out to be  a cut above in the league (but if course you never know how they will gel or if they have what you think they have). I could be proved completely wrong :).

Definitely a stronger squad for North Wellington this year IMO 99% of last years players back bolstered by the new ones should make for good competition to get In to the1st team and also will make the reserves stronger.

Looking forward to the season but wouldn't mind a bit of summer before hand though :)

Ohh so they haven't really committed yet. I should hope North Well will have a few players a cut above Capital 2? I would also be surprised if they maintain 99% of last years team after being relegated.

Not having a crack here, just doesn't seem right.

P.s theres not much to be gained from keeping secrets, if bigger and better senior clubs are gonna come for some of your players, they will.

Fyi 99% of last year's squad are back and we haven't been relegated as far as we are aware.

Sorry Tezza, as I previously stated I am not very aware of the state of play on what has happened with this whole situation.

99% of players are back at preseason training but if you pick up more players like you claim then it is inevitable that some will move on when they don't make the 1st team. Happens at every club.  I don't beleive 99% of last years players are back either! I've played at a couple of clubs for almost 15 years of senior football and I've never been to preseason with the exact same squad as the previous season or even 99%, not even after winning the league. I guess that's pretty erralivant though.

it is a shame for football but i agree with you smithy
the capital football board will not be told by it's members what they should do….
so at the next AGM the clubs need to remove them and then this will fix the problem as they will remember they are there to represent all the clubs and listen to there needs….
but this won't happen cause not enough clubs have the balls to stand and be counted incase they loose…
it's a shame for the future of the sport (too much PC touchy feel management )

I agree it would be wrong for this to be the case.
But you want to get rid of the whole Capital Football board because of this poor situation? Are you saying that we could replace them all with people who could and would do a better job? If this is the precedent you want to set I think there will be a massive turnover of board members.

There are bits of that I agree with, and bits which I think are a bit alarmist.

I think you're right that clubs don't want to rock the boat in case they upset the powers that be. I also think a big factor is that club administrators just don't have time waste on this sort of stuff. So inertia is a significant factor.

Having been on the CF Board for a short while I can tell you that it's no picnic. Lots of reading, and lots of hours spent on email chains and in meetings. Also, in my case anyway, lots of disagreeing with people which is never much fun in the long run.

The issue of too much PC bullshit is a New Zealand issue not a CF Board issue!

Some of the Board Members have their own agendas and are there for the wrong reasons ie. the new suggested CL format........ benefits which members? Some are just going with the flow. There are some very strong willed people there. But this is probably not the forum for that discussion.

Why not though - where is the forum for that discussion?

That's something that niggles me, is that if you do speak out against decisions of the Board you get tagged as "difficult" or "chasing your own agenda" or some such.

The reality is, if you're on a Board, you're there representing people. Consequently, you are going to be talked about and disagreed with. It's part of the gig.

Unfortunately in New Zealand we have this stupid attitude that because you're a volunteer you are immune from criticism.

nobody says diddle in CF club meetings. I reckon CF could say they were changing the shape of the ball to oval and no one would say boo.
Not sure if the club reps just want to toe the line, are out of touch with goings-on, or if they just don't give a rats.
That makes it important that there is a good mix on the Board. I'm not sure (m)any could relate to the Cap 1 'issue'.

I meant that the North Wellington forum/thread was not the forum for this discussion!

Maybe it needs its own thread.

Some of the board members have their own agendas and are there for the wrong reasons? Which ones? No one in a role at CF should be immune from criticism but theres nothing worse than negative broad statements that lack enough detail and often evidence to be bothered with.
Dear complainers, please feel free to complain as this is often how we fix some mistakes and put things in place to ensure they don't happen again. How-ever please be honest, accurate, and detailed when complaining, otherwise you end up just coming off as whining shit stirrers as appose to be people who generally care about the development of the game in our area.
Please also feel free to apply for these roles and make a difference to the issues you feel strong enough to whinge about.

As an example! The board chair is involved in a club that has missed out on CL promotion numerous times. He has been vocal on how it is to hard to get into CL. Any guesses who the driving force is behind the CL 2nd tier?
Is that enough detail for you?
I applaud volounteers who give up their time for football or any sport and am one of those. But I believe your own agendas need to be left at the door when you are in a govenance situation! You need to look at what is best for the sport and not how can my club/ player benefit from this.
Having said that.I have heard that generally what he wants gets through!
I still think this is not a NW thread issue!

Around 30 at first training last night.  Some good new players turned up with more to come.

Unfortunately we also had the first injury of the season as well with one guy going down with what looks likea pretty serious knee problem.

Paolo, all last years squad are back bare one I knew about.  I am confident that they will all stay at the club whether they are in the firsts or reserves (there will be more competition for places this season).

At this early stage I think we are in much better shape for the coming Cap 1 season.

I believe our focus on youth is going to pay off over the next few years.

Ps Paolo your contribution to this thread brings an air of reason to proceedings (as opposed to usual hysterics). You're welcome down our clubrooms for a free cheese toasty any time during the season. :)

this is the best news for the last two seasons so i hope it turns out this way
you need competition to give drive to youth then the opportunities to grow

Your new turf will be a important facility that will aid your youth development and a all weather facility always helps attract and maintain players.

Liams dad knows what a real club North Wellington used to be as he was a member for a we few years and achieved on the field for the club as well as helped the social side of the club pay off the debt's and build a better club for all it's membership.

Aj swing by karori club and have a beer sometime. Spartacus very true, the old man has always held the club in high regard and still does. Personally I Played a lot of junior football at North wgtn in the golden days when the first team were central league (mid 90's). Have enjoyed bantering with teza, can't help it, good on the club if they stay in cap one.
