Doesn’t work if the old club doesn’t bother de-registering players.

I remember I went from Upper Hutt -> 4 different clubs -> Naenae. Naenae had trouble registering me. Turns out they couldn’t transfer me from Eastbourne because I wasn’t registered there (I had even played Chatham cup for them!), they ended up having to transfer me from Upper Hutt, my original club - none of my other clubs since bothered transferring me.

And that's one of the main reasons COMET was brought in - Sporting Pulse was horrible in identifying these kind of things and COMET will be much better once we get past all the teething issues.

Im ignorant in this area. But wouldn’t a two step process (old club de-registering player, then new club registering) be worse at this than a one step process (new club registering/transferring player)

It's just a terminology difference really - you can still request a transfer for a player it's just the other club dosn't accept the transfer in COMET they terminate the players registration - then the new club has to confirm they still want the player.

As to the point above from another poster about 4 records - probably to do with all the teething issues and some user error - I'm not saying Comet is perfect, far from it - but i can see once it all settles in this is a very powerful tool which is much better for transfers the the old system.

Is COMET responsible for league tables being Win Loss Draw, rather than Win Draw Loss?

This is worth scrapping the entire system on. Absolute travesty.

ahh dont know - they just going back to how it used to be done (in the days before fax machines!) tell you when you're looking at old newspapers to get results etc it can be well annoying!

So this maybe of interest to anyone that is a player/coach/referee in New Zealand. I've had privacy concerns with the new Comet system since it was launched after I found out anyone could find my full name and DOB. I raised this with the referee manager at Capital Football at the time.

I got back the following from my contact at Capital Football explaining that the collecting of the information is covered by National Registration System T&Cs.

I next went back to NZ Football as I also noticed that I could view Nix player details and anyone that played for National teams or was an international player in NZ, passport details.

The email I got back from NZ Football gave me the impression that this would be fixed but I note that it is still not fixed. This was all back in Feb-April 2018 that I raised the issue.

Lastly, I will note. I can also look up all clubs or players etc in New Zealand in Comet. This includes players U-18 and get their Full name, DOB and passport details if they have played for our representative national teams. I was also surprised to find out I can look up all the matches and details for the OFC Champions League games as well. In all, I believe this raises some privacy concerns that I feel haven't been answered or have been ignored by NZ Football.

And yet our Federation Waibop doesn't like us to know the contact info for other coaches of teams in our grades!!!!

Ah yes, but

Is COMET responsible for.... the "senior" league (Central etc) tables standings go with: PF PA GD whilst the "minor" leagues go with: For Against Goal Difference .

How am I expected to sleep since noticing this.

To be fair, they did change to Win Draw Loss ( or W D L) about halfway through last season.  I'm guessing that Win Loss Draw (W L D) was an Americanism and/or default setting.

The use of one or letter abbreviations versus a word will be a responsiveness thing.  If viewing on a PC, resize the browser window so it is smaller and eventually instead of seeing For Against Goal Difference, you will see PF, PA, GD.  Looking at the Central v Capital leagues, it looks like the Central page always shows the Standings tab separately, whilst the Capital leagues includes the standings tab in with the Draws/Results tabs thus making more room available to display the full text.

My current annoyances with whats on the federation fixtures sites, 1) at the moment are for leagues with odd number of teams, Bye shows in the standings, 2) there is no URL that will take you to the page for your team, or 3) a page that shows fixtures on a ground

Oh no... now I am worried too. What does PF stand for?
