Joy... we have them next....
Capital 8
Good luck. We have the JJs who beat them.
Crawford Green = Crawford Brown (dirt)
What a difference a week makes.
Don't really know what happened last week. 2-2 at half time and a really good game, then they scored a couple of goals early in the 2nd half and heads dropped and we seemed to give up. There's no way there should have been a 7 goal difference in the teams.
Had a really good training on Thursday night when we had a good discussion and worked on a new formation etc. Knew it was going to be a tough game yesterday against our old rivals the JJs. Started off quite strong and we were probably a bit unlucky to be 1-0 down at half time. Goal came from one of our CBs losing the ball and then getting a black eye from a flailing elbow in the process of trying to recover.
Managed to equalise early in the second half. Header from a corner was cleared off the line by a hand and we scored the resulting penalty. Stayed that way for a while then with about 15 to go they took the lead with a screamer in off the post. Felt we deserved at least a point and a 2-1 loss would have been really demoralising.
With about 5 to go we equalised again. Cross was overhit from the right, retrieved by our left winger who managed to find our striker unmarked in the 6 yard box. Would gladly have taken 2-2. Then with about a minute to go our striker go through again, was forced quite wide but finished to spark big celebrations.
That's a huge win for us. They had won every game so far this season including beating the team who thrashed us last week and they were coming off a 6-0 win last week too. They also beat us 3-0 twice last season. Roll on the Barons next week.
Kudos, we definitely see how the 7 goal half happened. Stonecutters are a quality side and bloody fit too, the boys did well to keep it to what it was. Would you be interested in trying to get st pats instead of Ben Burn?
Not sure we'd be able to get it changed. If not you're welcome to join us the Karori Park clubrooms afterwards.

Stop trying to avoid out clubrooms Mike
Yep, you've been told where to go after the match this time so no excuse. ;)
Stop spreading rumors Mike.... :P
ajc28 - need to give you a call. My number is 0226393348 please send me a txt.
Have texted, though I'm not the manager of the team so can give you his number if needed.
so what happened in the game and did you go to clubrooms?
5-0 win for the Aces. We started poorly and were lucky not to concede a couple of goals in the first 15 minutes. After that I felt we were generally on top. 2-0 at half time and despite many shots in the second half it took until the last 10 minutes for us to score another 3. Pretty happy with my first clean sheet for this team and after a 9-2 loss you can't ask for much more than a 3-2 then 5-0 win the next 2 weeks. All but wiped out the goal difference from the Stonecutters game.
We were at the clubrooms after but didn't see the Barons.
Wasn't at the game, had told the boys to head to the clubrooms after, hear one of our boys had to go to hospital (hes ok, two weeks out) so that may of had something to do with them not turning up.
Ah true, I'd forgotten about that and didn't really see what happened, glad he's not too badly hurt. Similar thing happened to our of our guys in about the same spot on the same pitch last season and he broke his collarbone, and by coincidence actually played for the first time since then in the game yesterday.
Actually scratch that, somehow it's turned out to be his ACL... ( no idea) Heard you guys were a good bunch of lads, looking forward to the return fixture
Bloody hell, we thought it was a shoulder/collarbone.
You guys were good to play against too. The collision aside I don't think there was a single foul or even argument in the whole game. Don't remember any stoppages or free kicks. Was nice to have a friendly and clean game.

don't expect them at your clubrooms (if you have one) :)
I'm going to give you a call Mike.
Good to catch up Mike. Will hopefully see you in 3 weeks.
Cap 8 night at Wakefield tonight. We take on Seatoun Gulls while the Barons play the JJs on the next pitch, followed by the Xeros against the Sealords. Other game in the division is a Petone derby obviously on their turf.
Bit of frustrating one last night. The Gulls started with 10 and early on we had a big stoppage for an injury. Couldn't really see what happened from my end but one of their guys went down when trying to clear a corner then our manager shouted "call an ambulance!" Words you never want to hear on the pitch. Think he tried a bicycle clearance and dislocated his elbow on the landing. A lady who was just passing came down and said she was a nurse so helped calm him down and get him off the pitch.
One our subs (who has been injured since pre-season and hasn't even played for us yet) then played for them. Shortly after the restart their striker went down with an injured back and had to go off, but came back on after a few minutes, and someone else arrived to give them 11.
1-0 up at half time through a header from a corner and got a second the same way by the same player in the second half. Had so many chances and it really should have been more but our finishing was off. 2 minutes to go we gave away a penalty for 2-1.
I've usually been in teams who get thrashed most weeks so that's one of the easiest games I can ever remember having in goal, don't think I had more than 10 touches and half of them were exchanging passes with the defence. Was a bit gutted at the end as I hadn't had a clean sheet for 3 seasons before last week and was 2 minutes from a 2nd in a row. But a win is a win and since losing 9-2 we've won 3 in a row scoring 10 and conceding 3 so wiped out that goal difference.
Other results not up yet. How did the Barons go? Saw a big celebration from the JJs in the 2nd half so assume they won a close game.
sounds nasty for the gulls. I actually left that team because they had a squad of about 20 they kept adding to, so I'm a bit surprised they couldn't field a full side
Especially being a weeknight instead of Saturday they should have been able to get ring ins from other teams.
Some results up now. JJs beat Barons 1-0 and Sealords beat Xeros 3-1.
Close game for us! 1-0 to JJ's on the night, we held out and was stoic to the end but they got one in the 2nd. All important clash against the toon this week!
Well done getting your first win Barons. Some good looking results for us, we've remained 3 points behind 2nd even with the bye. Level with the Xeros who are the only team we haven't played yet and Chuggers. Assuming we play the Xeros next it's a chance to move into the top half of the table for the first time this season.
Was great to get the monkey off our back :). Seatoun are sound but didn't have reinforcements. Great bunch of lads though and it was a good game of football.
Does anyone know when the draw will be up for this weekend?

No games this weekend. Get yourself to the U20 World Cup!
Edit: Other than Chatham Cup and a few catch up games on the Monday
Legend! Thanks mate, am already going to the one in Auckland :)
Many thanks!!!
does this get announced through official channels anywhere? for those who dont check capital football facebook or these message boards what is the intended way for teams to find this out?

re: no games this weekend
So you have not yet hand your hand delivered message from Capital Football yet, followed up with a singing telegram? Thats pretty piss poor.
i was thinking of the normal place where fixtures are saying there are no games this weekend.

re: no games this weekend
I'm confused... do you not know about the Capital Football website?
http://www.sportingpulse.com/assoc_page.cgi?c=1-42...
Check you grade/team to see if you have been cancelled or transferred. It's usual practice for the team manager to notify players. We used to use http://teamer.net/ .
.
yep its not on there (from what I can see). maybe I am jumping the gun and its coming.

Clubs have known there have been no games on this weekend since before the start of the season.
Doesn't necessarily mean lower grade players were all told back then though. I notice a message has gone on Capital Football's website today.
oh yep I see it there now. i probably missed it earlier as I go straight to the fixtures list on the website. evidently communication between me & my club is not up to snuff as I wasn't aware until today
So looks like we're playing the Barons again next weekend. Would have thought we'd be playing the one team we haven't played yet but Capital Football do sometimes seem to schedule it so that you play a lot of the teams twice before playing one of them at all.
Teamer is very good
