Wgtn Utd 1 Wharf 1. Flat first half 0-0. Then on the hour Robbie Hunter scores for Wharf from close to 35 metres. Home side equalise with a penalty. Last 15 minutes somewhat willing but no goals and no reds. MoM: Dan Ford. Wharf still unbeaten.

Even game IMO. Peno was a bad challenge and a late fall from the winger but I don't think wharf can complain. The disallowed goal for WU was onside but like I said, even game so 1-1 probably fair

Oxford dictionary definition of choose:  "as being the best or most appropriate of two or more alternatives".  I reckon he got it bang on. ;-)

What's the feedback on the gathering post final whistle?  Both teams and officials centre pitch after full time?  Feedback Session?

yeah I was wondering what that was. Just got told that some ballboy's dad rocked on the pitch and wanted to speak to both teams about foul language or something.

Righto,  best prepare for that then.  I must admit having played in and managed football clubs over 35 years, I can't recall the foul language situation as bad as it is these days.  And I played around the Sumners/Buzzer Mackays/Harfords and they could make a docksider blush.  But kids these days are throwing it out, not just at players, but officials too like they own the joint.  Bad form.

If the parents of ball kids are getting involved,  we are in trouble to secure volunteers going forward aren't we?  No one I saw today deserved to throw trash around because they were the Ducks nuts behind the leather.  Probably a thick ear and a pull ya head in is on order for a few teams me thinks.

Stop out are a central league quality side. Easy the best team in the grade and beat Uni 9-0 two weeks back.
Don't really see the point of them being in te grade if they keep winning games by 5 plus.
Really hope they take out the promotion spot this year.

Just my opinion mate. Karori didn't look as good as the stop out side I saw.

Those are good points, but after chatting to a couple stop out players this was their first week at full strength, the second round vs karori will be a good match for sure ;)

Ha that's cheeky. Think anyone at the park could see there was contact. Most players would say that though. Dunno what the ref was up to with that second yellow. I assume he realised he gave the wrong person the card as the free kick was awarded to WU. The lino talked to him straight after apparently so I'm guessing he noticed the mistake but obviously the ref still didn't send him off. The player said he was waiting for the red but it never came so just played on.

wasn't the card for throttling the Karori player on the ground? and card for the Wharf player for the original tackle (thus the free kick). And then when the lino tried telling him that was a second booking he was told "we won't worry about that'. Would be interesting to get the refs take on it.

Kakky, can't say I agree about Stop Out. They're top three but not miles better than all else and certainly not deserving of auto promotion!
They pumped Varsity in holidays and (sorry but) a poor Seatoun side, lucky to be in the grade.

I think what he is suggesting is that the SO team that is back to full strength is easily the best team in the league. Looking at the names appearing on the score sheet, I can see why. Maybe you will be able to give us a good run down after this coming weekend when they play Welly Utd. Will you be at the game? Huge game for both teams, particularly if Olympic win again.
To be honest, the real challenge is still being laid down from Olympics reserves. As I said, saw them putting out a very handy team pre-season and wondered weather it would continue. A good mix of experience and talented youth.

Seatoun aren't lucky to be in the grade, they won the right to be there. I don't think injuries will help them though.

I watched Olympic vs Island Bay. That Olympic team is pretty lethal. Scored some pretty amazing goals on the counter.

Lets just see how SO's season kicks on from here. I wasn't implying they should get auto promotion, just I was surprised they didn't take the chance of promotion end of last year.
Olympic are definitely a top side, play a better style then SO (more of a football branded style)
SO look long into the big men or flood one side for the big switch similar to which i have seen the Palmy teams do. IMO that will work to win cap prem.

Seatoun had some luck coming third to be able to have a shot at promotion but took their chance, its a step up for sure but hopefully they can produce some results from here on

IMO Island Bay don't have the squad to consistently pick up enough points to challenge for the title.

Who are people picking at this early stage? Im pretty confident the winner will definitely come from Olympic, Welly Utd, Stop Out or Karori. Outside of that Miramar will have a part to play in who wins it but may not be able to consistently keep a strong enough team out to beat the better sides. Stop Out and Olympic have enough goals in them and Karori are defensively always strong and difficult to get any points out of at home. Going to be a good close league this year and the winner has a better chance at promotion this year without PN Marist in the playoff.

SO haven't played that well when I've seen them this season or last - but no doubt that Joe C is a goal scoring machine - so they need him on the field for the rest of the season. Surprised at where Oly Resies are but I haven't seen them play - just heard there was quite a few youngins (might have changed though). One of the wharf lads commented that he thought Island Bay was the best team he had played. Seatoun are woeful and should prob be in Cap2.

One of the Karori players I spoke to said he thought they were probably lucky that was disallowed but thought it wasn't a penalty either. I guess everyone has a different view but it doesn't matter in the end, the person who made the call gets the last say.

Micky Malivuk is a proven scorer at CL level, with him, Joe, and their new winger, I would imagine goals wont be a problem.
Seems an average comment from your wharf lad as Island Bay have only won one game at this stage?
Not sure what Cap Prem games you were at last season but SO were easily the best team in the league, probably why they won it.

Agree with first point (new winger?)

Well the team drew with IB and beat Stop Out so that could explain his comment. Seems like IB have dropped off their standards and SO lifted theirs.

No doubting SO were by far the most consistent team last year but during the play-off game they were surprisingly flat. They are the favourites this year in my opinion (based on the goals they are knocking in).

Don't know him, just know he wasn't there last year. Looks a decent player.

Could explain it, just doesn't seem an accurate comment any way you look at it. Island bay are no where near the best team.

Yea I would agree SO wernt great in the home leg of the play off, probably a reflection of Palmy being a good team too though.
