Start him up front with Smeltz if Killen isn't 100% fit and bring Killen on with twenty minutes to go at the Confederations Cup.  So is Wood the youngest person to have played in the English Premier League this season?

Except that he's played for the u17s and has just been included in the 30 man confederations cup squad. But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant at the "establishment".   And he's 17 for gods sake!

Quote from the radio sport story on the front page a couple of days ago:

All Whites coach Ricki Herbert says he has always been interested in bringing talented young players into his side. He says Wood has come onto the radar at just the right time.

Wood was a member of the New Zealand under-17 side at the 2007 World Cup and featured for the under-20s last year.

he,s been in outstanding form since xmas.
What does it matter what age he is!! You,ve obviously never worked at any level in the game James Dean!!

If the AW's were picked on what was posted on here, Hard News would be marking Xavi in June.

Wood played again for the reserves and scored

Sounds like he had a good game from this review last week for the reserves, he scored one and set up two.

i see he has been named in the squad for the game against man city this sunday. i think it will be very likely he gets some more game time. that czech player looks like he will miss the game. Bednar's injury last week played a hand in Wood getting the call-up.

"Albion are also again likely to be without striker Roman Bednar. The Czech Republic international is struggling to shake off a hamstring problem."

No game time for Wood in West Brom's 4-2 loss to Man City.

At least he got on the bench again though.

It's not over yet !!

Chris wood was on the subs bench for the must win or go down game yesterday (Sunday) against Liverpool, which they lost 2 - nil.

Unfortunately he didn't get a run on the park, but who knows what they will do for their final game against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday their time. Will they play some of their up and coming players, like Wood, there isnt anything on the game for either side.

It would be great to see Wood against Nelsen in the last game of the season, the old pro against the new boy.

However Nelsen picked up a calf injury and came off just before halftime and may not make it on for the final game. Hope it isnt too serious with our confed cup games just around the corner

That would be great, to see Wood versus Nelsen. Would possibly do Woods chances of starting a world of good if he could impress our Captain and give him a run around.

Damn it aint gonna happen,  Woods  vs  Nelsen on Sunday

The latest from Rovers is ..

Club captain Ryan Nelsen may have played his final game of the season for Rovers.

The New Zealand international limped out of Sunday's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea with a calf strain, and his boss Sam Allardyce doesn't expect the 31-year-old to have recovered in time for next Sunday's final league encounter at home to West Bromwich Albion.

But there is better news for French loan star Gel Givet."I think Givet will be okay but Ryan will definitely be out," revealed the Rovers boss

Ryan pulled a calf, whereas Givet is more tightness rather than a tear, but I think Ryan is out of it completely."

Have to wait and see if Wood will get a run, might get an indication Friday or Sat
