He is wearing number 24 with the A league team and played as a right back

On 26 January 2013 Roux made his A-League debut, coming on as a substitute is his sides 1-0 loss to Brisbane. Roux came close to scoring with a stinging shot in the 75th minute and coach Ian Ferguson was pleased with his performance saying post match, "I thought Storm Roux did well when he came on"

I have been watching him play in the youth league for Perth.

He has some pace and reads the game well.

If  the papers over here are correct, he was signed on to a fulltime contract with the senior side until the end of the season.

No point coming to the nix's as he would never get a game under Ricki's system of retaining players that aren't preforming.

Interesting to see how he develops. He is eligible for NZ, Aus and SA. Been told he hasn't been called up to any age group sides previously.

NZ Football had an article about the NZ U20s and mentioned that he's eligible. Hopefully that's a good sign we are interested.

Interesting about the coaching priority.. Be right at home at the Nix :-)

"It was impossible not to notice how comfortable Roux was on the ball during his half-hour cameo at nib Stadium and he is quick to attribute that confidence in possession to the coaching skills of Kenny Lowe and Gareth Naven, the men who have overseen his progress through Glory's youth team.

"I wouldn't be half the player I am if it wasn't for those two," he said.

"They are so determined to make players good with their feet and able to move the ball all the time.

"They just want to produce quality players who can accept the ball under pressure and play under pressure.

"Playing out from the back is one of their main focuses, but really they are more focused on just making a player better in every way.

"We work every day at training on playing out from the back, looking forward and not losing possession and after training in those conditions all the time, it's not that difficult to repeat it in a game situation."

BiographyA dashing full-back, Storm Roux is comfortable on both sides of the defence.  Entering his third season with Glory Youth, Roux was promoted to the club's Hyundai A-League roster in January 2013.

I assume he also has an Ausi passport and therefore doesn't count as an import

for CCM?

Hasn't been officially announced by CCM yet but I would think it is a senior deal. I doubt he would leave the Glory for another NYL deal, effing long way to move for one.

Thats confirmed then. Arnold is a good judge of young players and has a good history of bringing youngsters through. You kind of wonder if this is a missed opportunity for the Nix. Will we be kicking ourselves if Roux turns out to be a very good A-League player?  Supposedly the club is all about bringing through young kiwi talent.
On the plus side if Roux does develop under Arnold into a good RB then it would be great for the AW's. Finally someone who can play RB.

You make the assumption we didn't offer him a deal at the same time and he (not surprisingly) chose the Mariners.

Caught the end of the interview on Soccer Stoppage Time tonight. They asked him what is wrong with NZ football ...

They were also ripping into us for only offering him a trial and claiming one of them have been pushing the club to talk to Roux for 6 months because we didn't even know he was a Kiwi. Also that the operations manager txted them straight after the broke the news that Roux was signing with CCM ...

Definately taking it with a grain of salt.

He was on his way here when CCM offered him something. They've rolled the dice and taken a risk after seeing him play 1 A-league game, and 3 WC games. Fair play to them. Guess we'll see if it pays off.

Gosh that must have been a tough decision for him......do you want to play for the wooden spooners or the champions?
If the Nix had signed him first it would have been announced and he would be here. We might have offered him a trial but nothing else. Arnold was quoted as seeing him at playing for NZ u20 vs Australia and being impressed. So just guessing.....but they probably moved on him then. Time will tell whether or not we missed an OK player.

A young Kiwi in a problem position (for the AW's) at another A-league club under a gaffer who has shown he can bring young players through (and beyond). It's great and I hope it works out... still leaves a similar spot with us that will preferably be filled by another young Kiwi. If they're good enough, they'll move forward.

Good on him!

LOL, you mean leave the Nix and get better development with an Oz team(Kosta and Marco). Actually my missus thinks Boyd and Fenton should go and play for Ange....it worked for Marco. Mind you, she knows shiite about football

Storm Roux's interview on Soccer Stoppage Time http://cl.ly/3u1Y0k100u2W

Starts around the 10 min mark. Gotta take things with a pinch of salt with that show, as it always seem to focus on players one of them represents. Even listening to it again, the Phoenix comments irk me still.

Not quite sure myself. The show has just started getting attention because the signings they are linking clubs to, are happening. Seems very Sydney centric tho, so isn't surprising they have little knowledge about NZ Football. They have their daggers out for Aloisi, especially in regard to his axing of Matt Thompson. Someone who they claim Dura ask Ernie to sign but was told he is too old, later on in that same show. Near the end they say Luke Adams to the Nix.

However, one New Zealander who will feature is Storm Roux, a 20-year-old  right back who Arnold believes will be an ideal replacement for Bojic, now at  Sydney FC.

''He's slotted in superbly and there's a lot to like about him, especially  his athleticism,'' he said. ''Storm has great engines and can run all day.''
