'No regrets' for Rojas
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/soccer-football/news/article.cfm?c_id=86&objectid=10793846

"I felt like I made a good move.''

That feeling may wane over the coming weeks, depending how far the Phoenix progress in their quest for a maiden grand final appearance, but Rojas says he'll cast no envious glances across the Tasman.

"I'm happy for them. They're a good bunch of guys, and I've been watching their games and watching their progress and they've been doing well.

"But I think I made the right decision. I felt like it was good for my development - I wanted to make sure I was in the right place.''

As someone with personal experience of breaking a jaw a few years ago, there are some good signs for Marco Rojas' quick recovery from this interview done with him this week- I have a feeling his fracture isn't too serious and he should be available for the Oceania Nations Cup in June, what to speak of the Olympics in London in July:
-most noticeably the fact he can already speak quite comfortably is evidenced by this quite extensive interview done with him this week. This indicates his jaw is not very tightly wired as mine was for a few weeks- mine was so tightly wired together with tight rubber bands- and sore, with a pin inserted- that I could barely speak, especially in the first week.

-the tone of the interview is that he's looking forward to playing at the Olympics

he has to say that, imagine the repsone MV would have given him  if he'd said "actually I'm gutted about the move, I've missed out on finals footy and been benched for half a season which is not what I wanted" - he'd have been in serious trouble.

Did he even require surgery? I have not seen any reports so I'd say it was a fairly minor break which is good. Shouldn't stop him training to much and I imagine he should be back playing within six to eight weeks

MELBOURNE Victory's showpiece match against Olympiacos was launched today with the help of the original Wog Boy, Nick Giannopoulos, and Victory stars like Archie Thompson.

They mixed with fans and students at Alphington Grammar School in Melbourne to celebrate the match against the legendary Greek side on May 19 at Etihad Stadium.

Packed To The Rafters star George Hourvardas joined in the fun too for a penalty shoot-out against former Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Bosnich along with Victory stars Danny Allsopp, Jimmy Jeggo and Marco Rojas.

Marco Rojas slipped slightly from the radar of Kiwi fans when he transferred from the Phoenix to Melbourne Victory last season and suffered injury to boot. But he showed a glimpse of his considerable repertoire when he bamboozled an El Salvador defender with a shake of the hips before sliding a shot against a post.

Then seven minutes after halftime Rojas hit a swerving right foot shot to beat the keeper. He should be a key player at the olympics

He said he was unfazed by where Postecoglou deployed him, as long as he played regularly.

"As long as I'm on the pitch (I'm happy)," Rojas said.

Pffft, you would have been playing regularly here!

Funny that he moved there to get time more centrally but in that article he says he's fine as long as he gets on the pitch haha.

Was thinking about it, and he really would have played every game last year when fit. We were playing Sanchez out wide..

More class from Marco vs the Reds.Evil little strike to finish off his goal - after missing with the header first time around.

Victory playing a style that suits him

It will cause a bit of angst bumping this up today but I was pondering this last week. This is the last year of his contract with the Victory, has he developed enough to head to Europe yet?

He basically lost a year with the circus they had last season, maybe another year under Ange would be best for his development.

Kosta only had 1 season under Ange.
As a 'Nix fan it depends on if we/how much we receive as training compensation.

Kosta might have been better to stay another year also, the weird move to Russia didn't help either. I think he might end up back in the A-League in a couple years sadly.

Not sure how the training compensation works in the A-League. If we were in the UK, we most likely would have got something when he signed for the Victory.

He was a free agent for that move so we got nothing. If he goes on to Europe as a free agent, we again won't get anything. If Victory get paid a transfer fee for his move somewhere (either this year, or if he re-signs and then gets transferred after that) we'd get a percentage of that fee (so would Waikato FC).

Ok, then he either leaves with a transfer fee in Jan or re-signs and leaves with a transfer fee later (I think up 'til his 23rd bday, so a couple of years). I don't like the idea of Victory getting a transfer fee, but if we get some $ out of it then it would be a little better.

It doesn't matter when he gets transferred, we'd still get the percentage for his time here. Even for the later transfers in his career we'd still get the percentage of the transfer fee (so would Victory too for all his time there until his 23rd birthday).

Holland would suit his style, i could see him heading off there or maybe the French League.

Still seems a little soft for me in the challenge so i wouldn't think the premier league is for him yet, of Italy which is a little harder as well.

I see him more as the first AW'S playing in spain, especially with his chilean heritage. Maybe a team like getafe or levante...

No, has to improve physically and also his fitness. Still think he's a couple of years off.

Do you reckon he's on track for gig in one of the countries mentioned? Is he good enough for Spain?

Strength, guts and decision making (at times) still hold him back. He should stay at victory for while yet.
