i'm doing an edit now; have emptied the knights squad, renamed to wellington phoenix, added terry, john and seatter to the board, etc...

Yeah, emptied the Knights squad, apart from the 4 kiwi's White, Bunce, Paston and Hickey.

Here was my 20 man squad for V2.

Geovanny Caicedo - Ecuador
Ricardo Martnez - Paraguay
Sebastin Setti - Argentina
Bruno Casanova - Argentina
Mark Paston
Che Bunce
Noah Hickey
Michael White

Sam Peters
Raf de Gregorio
Michael Eagar
Costa Barabarouses

Riki Van Steeden

Dave Cunningham
Daniel Trent
James Gordon
Chris Gage

Brent Fisher
Nathan Knox
Aaron Burgess

For V2 I have added an 18yo Brazilian striker (who is rubbish so far) and Scott Bishop as a second NZ keeper.  The two import Centre Backs are superb.

Just made the final of the Australian Cup, and I'm either 1st or 2nd in the A-League in mid November, to go with my Pre-Season Cup win.

Here was the original challenge, issued on the Aus/NZ FM forum.

Many people have been calling for the New Zealand Knights to be kicked out of the league. People say that they have 3rd rate foreign players and should replace them with New Zealand players, so...

Using the pre-game editor, release all non-New Zealand players and staff. Start a new game as New Zealand Knights and fill the squad with at least 16 New Zealanders. Only hire New Zealand staff too!

Rules:

Club: New Zealand Knights

Leagues: A-League plus any other leagues you want - may be a good idea to pick some Asian leagues as if you win the A-League, you will be in the Asian Champions League

Challenge: Squads are limited to 20 players in the A-League. Fill your squad with at least 16 New Zealanders - you can have up to 4 non-NewZealanders. Only hire New Zealand staff.

Try to win the A-League within 3 seasons and the Asian Champions League within 5.

For more fun, try to get the NZ national team into the World Cup!

Paston NZ. I was playing it recently Knights against Melbourne and I walked off while the 1st half was going on. Came back to see that my opposition Melbourne at half time had 4 injuries in the game. Another i had 3 players sent off in the 1st half. But still an awesome game.

In NZ it's around $90-$100, but I imagine you could find it cheaper on Ebay or somewhere.  Even 2nd hand.

2008 will be out Octoberish.

I think I'm using the first patch, so 7.0.1 maybe ?

The NZFC squads are closer to the end of the 2005/2006 season because the close off for the game is before tha NZFC sides have to confirm squads for the season.  If we can get some more researchers we'll try and make sure the patches have up to date squad changes.

Lost the Australian Cup on penalties to Queensland

As a scout for the A-league for updates for Football Manager i recommend FMFormation.com. Also sortitoutsi.net has 1000's of extra downloads. Welcome to the community, people. FM will take over your life. Buy it. Don't cheat these guys, they have done the whole football community worldwide a massive favour by making this game. Also update your games with the official updates 7.0.1 and 7.0.2 and then the fmformation update which is getting released again this month, that will include Wellington Phoenix FC and the curent/new squad as long as it's released publicly by the club.

You can ask me any questions about the game if you want. I'll try my best to answer. Buying and playing it is the best way to learn.

I'm in 2010 playing as Sydney FC, i've won the a-league 3 times, 4 times as premier, won the ACL once, came 2nd one year. oh yea i've only won the pre-season cup 2 times. Australian cup 4 times. It's worth sacking your coaches and signing up new ones with better abilities, they will work wonders for your team.

I also managed England for a while, after winning the A-league with Sydney FC i applied for the England job after they sacked their manager after the world cup. I was successful with my application started with the WC qualifiers for S-Africa 2010 won my group, got to the top 16 in the world cup but was then knocked out by Germany. After the WC was over they sacked me. By being the England manager at the WC i had a pretty good reputation by now so i applied for a number of international jobs, was given a number of go aheads and i chose to go with Belgium. I am currently on the way to qualifying for the European Cup, but Spain is in my qualifying group. I'll try my best to get to atleast 2nd place so i'll get through.

That statistic of 23/1 is pretty good.  Who was in your Qualifying group?

Can you manage a club and a national team at the same time?

Yes, you can. As i mentioned, in my game i am the manager of Sydney FC, and also the manager of Belgium currently. The media do mention the problems you might have juggling the two roles, but for me it's all in the head. Separating the two roles at first and then as you get used to it, using your advantage as a national team coach to make relationship with players and other coaches in search of better signings for your club.

I've been thrashing FM (formerly CM) ever since i was a kid and got my hot little hands on CM1 93/94.

FM can eat your life up.

I've had a couple of attempts in the A League. Firstly with Melbourne, struggled in my first season, finishing 5th (but it was really tight) Sold Archie Thompson to Man City for 2.5 million, but of course it wasn't easy to buy any striker half as good as him. But I demolished the league in my second season, winning everything.

Then, I had a go as the Knights. Again, first season wasn't easy.  But I built up a solid squad in season 2. Got Chris James on loan, an argentinian midfielder called Michael Sarmiento who was great, an english fullback kevin amankwah, and an 18 year old english striker called junior brown who was a star. most surprisingly, my two best players were Michael White - a left mid in the game, but he was incredible, averaging almost 8 (i was pissing myself laughing at his performances). My other star was the young aussie striker Casey who started with the team, great in the air and was the league top scorer in my second season.

Currently playing as Wrexham, who I won League 2 with in my first season, and am leading League 1 halfway through 2nd season. Knocked Middlesborough and Blackburn out of the League Cup, and now have to face Chelsea in the semi!

My problem is I always lose my enthusiasm for each game in my second season. Don't know why, just means every couple of months I have to start a new game

Aussie season is great to play in though, as it is relatively short (especially compared to lower english leagues, where you can play between 50 and 60 games a season), which makes it more fun, ripping through each season relatively quickly.

Sawu, I also started with 93/94. Have not been able to keep my hands of it since then. Maybe taking on a national team as you play with your club might make your game less boring. Also when you start a game, load a few different leagues in to it and when you get bored of the club you're at, quit, and look for another job in some of the other leagues. Your profile still remains there and your reputation as a coach builds up, hence giving you more options as to what kind of clubs/nations will employ you.
Also, there are a number of 'challenges' set out for you to try, if you visit different FM forums that are quite easy to find. Even under this topic there area a few mentioned. Sometimes just taking a long break from it helps.

Andorra, Russia, Croatia, Macedonia, Estonia, Israel.

Now i've played 11 of the 12 Qualifying matches, have already qualified. Now won 9 and lost 2, both to Russia!!! Scored 41 and conceded 5.

Looking forward to managing in my first big international tournament in Euro 2008.

Russia went on to win the 2010 World Cup in S-Africa, in my game, with Guus Hiddink as their coach.

Where in Italy are you?

Nice, and are you a kiwi or just merely interested in the A-league. Will you ever get a chance to watch Wellington games live. Sorry about all the questions, i just like it when the international community gets together in harmony over football.

Should i feel upset that he is insecure about his current place of dwelling? Maybe he is a Turinian at heart and mind. Though i could think of better places. What is the real reason as to why he would claim to be from Turin? Is he having an identity crisis? Ran away from home? Trying to hide his true emotions of which gender he prefers as a close mate? Who knows? I'm still glad he plays FM and likes to chat about it.
