Hey Junior I know I've said this before but I'm hitting the UK for a month next Wednesday, staying first fortnight in the east East End (near Olympic Stadium) so have put Bees v Stansted 3pm Saturday 7th in the diary. Checked out google for directions to the ground - only to be led to AFC Hornchurch!!! How far is it from centre of Bas? Walking distance? And will I be able to take a dog (on lead) into the ground?

If I get there I'll post a photo as evidence. Cheers.

PS Good name for a fanzone: the Gee Bees. Reckon I could sell it?

Gardiners Close is the home ground: http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/basildonunited/location/

Looks to be nearby a big shopping mall on Festival Way (from google maps).

Shouldn't you ask you uncle Peter for directions (not mine as he lives in Wgtn)? On the club page there are a few match reports written by a Glen Eckett - maybe you could use the contact form on the website to ask him.

How about a UK fever zone?

Have you got a stripey or Nix scarf to put in the photo?

Cheers J. Got it. Will contact G E re dog

Uncle Peter near totally directionless these days, sadly.

Nix to stripey/Nix scarf. Never mind, it'll be a character shot.

Fiddlesticks!

The Bees lose at home to Stansted 1-2 after extra time.  This was a cup tie (which cup I don't know).

FA Vase. Enjoyable game nevertheless. Chairman Paul Smith shouted me a beer before the game, introducing me to the few diehards in the bar as 'the Kiwi bloke come here just to see us!'. Yeah right. Some good players on show, two young brothers in particular: George & Tommy Cocklin, mid and striker. George v good on the ball, reminded me of Clapham but more intense, ie. feisty. About 35 locals present, which is about half what they get for Essex Senior League games apparently. Will post a few pics at some point. Don't expect to see them in 'stripeys' - they were wearing claret for this game. No idea why. The supporters tried to tempt me back next day, for the Under-17 team - 'some bloody good kids there.' But I had other commitments, and the weather was crap.
PS Excellent sausage & onions in a crisp & tasty baguette.
PPS Next weekend Leyton Orient, riding high.

Good to hear.  Did you broach the subject about them becoming our feeder club ("the next Paul Ifill or Greenie")?

Ah... no. I'll let you do that via the web, now that they (Chairman Smith & the barman plus diehards) know Kiwi interest in the Bees is rampant. I'm sure they'd welcome contact from 'one of their own' as it were. Actually, when I told them there's only one professional club in the whole of NZ, they were flabbergasted.

I think by your actions you have just become our talent scout.  Our Denis Wise as it were...

Sorry mate, my involvement aint necessarily directed that way. More a philosophical/cultural interest, if you get where I'm coming from.

Anyway, just out of interest, how would you rate the left back and defensive mid?

In yet another cup tie, the Bees win away at Hullbridge Sports (0-2) a couple of days ago.

Upcoming in the weekend is an actual ESL game against FC Romania.

Ha ha. Not up to A-League. Possibly do a job for TeeDubs. Btw if you want the programme I bought on the day, I'm happy to post it gratis if you give me a postal address.

A very nice offer, but will pass on that thanks all the same. The place is strewn with various Nix and the odd TW programmes.

The only one I really value (and as a result have lost) is my Spurs vs Man City 10 Feb 1973 programme.

Result is a 3-3 draw.
That puts them into 5th place on 10 points (played 5), trailing Harry Enfield 1893 by 5 pts.

Cheers JM. Looks like a nice day out and decent venue. Somewhere in between Dave Farrington and Newtown Parks.

Also sausage sounds like a step up from TW but not quite a Fritz Weiner.

And on Saturday comfortably disposed of Barking (6-1).  They leap frog Barking and maybe will sit on 5th or 6th depending on how FC Romania and Haringey (Spurs in disguise?) went over the weekend.

"Team Wellington have signed English winger Charlie Henry to bolster their 2013-14 national football league roster.

Henry has most recently been playing for Chelmsford City in Conference South."

Yeah.  Some silly games over here involving the preparation of sphincters and some such.

Should pop over to the club page and see what is happening I guess...
