Few people have posted in the past that they would like to come from Auckland to home games and not stay the night and pay out for hotels etc, but the 7.30pm kickoffs mean you can't make it to the airport in time for the last flight of the night. Noticed Mana Bus have launched a new sleeper bus service between Wellington and Auckland this week, leaving daily from Bunny Street at 11pm, scheduled to arrive in Auckland at 8.45am and includes lie-flat beds. For example, for the home game on 14th Jan there are currently sleeper bus tickets available for $25.99. Would also give you time for a post-match drink or two before it leaves. Don't know how comfortable or easy it would be for sleeping, but could be an option to think about for those who have been put off by not being able to make the last flight back.

Edit: Could also be an option for Wellington based fans travelling to Auckland games and not wanting to stay the night.

They look quite good, I caught sleeper buses a few times when I was traveling through China and they had this system where you were in these cramped, hard, cocoon and were sort of layered like fallen dominoes. So you had the person in front of you lying just above your crotch, and people just above theirs, etc.

I have used the Mana bus service. It is excellent. first up, for the best sleep, get a bed down on the ground floor of the bus. Upstairs is good if you take the lower bed but that can be a bit lumpy where they have folded the seats down and the seat belt buckle holders make themselves known. On the ground floor, grab the top bunk which hardly moves and I had a good sleep despite being a light sleeper. The top beds are the same width as the bottom bed - which is two seats wide. The drivers I have encountered have been excellent and on the sleepers you get a bag containing a bottle of water, a biscuit and a packet of vege chips. All for $25.99. Oh and not forgetting the two pin power points and free wifi. I was charging my phone and my tablet whilst watching movies before going to sleep.

Glad to hear it's a good service. Hopefully can be an option for people wanting to come the odd home game without having to stay the night, or for Wellington fans going to Auckland games and not wanting to stay over.

I have also tried the sleeper bus.  I think it's fantastic.  They gave out a comfort pack with water, a bag of potato chips and a biscuit.  If you have the time I would def recommend it for the budget conscious out there.  Although strangely it costs more to travel return from Palmerston North to Auckland than it does Wellington to Auckland.  Still it's cheaper than flying.

You arrive directly in the city in Auckland, no need to faf about at the aiport, paying a ransom just to get into the city and get stuck in traffic on the way.  You take a check in bag for free and you get to lie flat.

I would however avoid the back upstairs as there are also seats right at the back and familys with children tend to take these.  So if you don't like the sound of screaming children I'd choose a spot in the middle/front.

If you're travelling from Auckland the bus stop is in walking distance from the stadium and CBD.  A very good option for Auckland based fans.

Thanks, I just emailed them about it. They don’t do beds anymore and the best you can do is a chair that reclines for $20 extra.

Plus an 11 hr 30 minute trip. Pretty easy choice for me just to suck it up and pay extra for flights.

If I could take an overnight sleeper that’s got a bed, I would be down for every game.
