GOLD!

Only a ginger can call another ginger, ginger
Only a ginger can call another ginger, ginger
So listen to me if you care for your health
You won't call me ginger 'less you're ginger yourself
Only a ginger can call another ginger, ginger

A bit of inspiration from Scotland - The Flower of Phoenix (sung to tune Flower of Scotland)

The Flower of Phoenix -

Wee Mac The Brave -

He will save the day - ( if losing) win the game (winning)

The Flower of Phoenix -

Our Kiwi Bairn (pronounced Ben with an air in it)

The Flower of Phoenix -

Will score again.

Well, alright, it's a bit flowery, but Ernie's might like it!

I found this while mucking around on You Tube

Apart from the Uh Oh! Yellow Fever the rest of the song is in Chinese...

http://chinesepandamusic.wordpress.com/2014/04/02/...

Lyrics for the chours are

Uh oh, yellow fever, you got me.
Uh oh, the insuppressible biological reaction.
Uh oh, yellow fever, yellow fever,
My passion is burning, why must I be calm?

I reckon we just take the chorus of disco inferno for Nathan Burns.

Burns baby burn

Disco inferno

Burns baby burn

Burn that mama down

Burns baby burn

Disco inferno

Burns baby burn

Burn that mama down

Could change the "Disco Inferno" line to something like "He's Nathan Burns" or similar to make it sound more like a chant for him rather than us just singing the song?

Actually. "He's Nathan Boo-urns" fits the syllables better.

Stolen from Man Utd:

(to the tune of Abbas Mamma Mia)

Mike McGlinchey

There he goes again

My, my, how can he assist you?

Probably needs a second verse

There is a version of Mamma Mia with Vinnie Lia which is a more obvious rhyme.  Could do with a chnage to the how can he assist you line from the one currently used.

Fair enough. I went for McGlinchey because he's more likely to provide the assists.  But you're absolutely right, Lia is a better rhyme.

I'm new to chants, but what about that Barry Manilow - Mandy for McGlinchey

Oh McGlinchey,

you came and you play without taking

We will never send you away

Oh, McGlinchey

Kick the ball and I stopped shaking

And we need you

Oh, McGlinchy

Come on News... you need to tell people the chant. It is quite funny (although not all that flattering to Vinnie).

To the tune of Que Sera, Sera:

Vince Lia, Lia,

He tackles and he gets cards,

We love him 'cause he's well hard,

Vince Lia, Liaaaaa

Vince Lia, Lia,

Like getting hit by a car

Nix midfield superstar,

Vince Lia, Liaaaaa

No offense to anyone but I always thought the La Bamba chant was wasted by turning it into a list of names. The start of the chant is about one player and then we just tack another bunch of players on.

For example, could it not be:

Albert Riera

Albert Riera

Albert Riera

Albert Riera

Albert Albert Riera

Albert Albert Riera

Controlling the midfield, there is no one better

To the tune of Depeche Mode's 'Just Can't Get Enough'

 When behind -

'Oh, we're just not good enough, we're just not good enough'

Or, if ahead -

"Oh, you're just not good enough, you're just not good enough'

Sha la la lala lalala

Sha la la lala lalala
Sha la la lala lalala

When the day is dawning
On an A-League Sunday morning
How I long to be there
With Nixie who's waiting for me there

Every Aussie city
Where I hang my hat
Ain't as half as pretty as where the Nix is at

Is this the way to Phoenix City
This is the season we won’t be sh*tty

Dreaming dreams of Phoenix City
And grand finals waiting for me
Show me the way to Phoenix City
I've been weeping like a t*tty
Crying over Phoenix FC
And coach Ernie who waits for me

Sha la la lala lalala
Sha la la lala lalala
Sha la la lala lalala
And Nixie who waits for me

Team chant which is sang at most EPL grounds but has the historical  association with the Glasgow Billy Boys.

Hello, Hello

We are the Fever Boys

Hello, Hello

We are the Fever Boys     (or the 'Gers version You'll know us by our noise)

We're going to win the A-League

We're going to win the cup

We all follow the Phoenix

I sang this song for years at St James Park as a team chant, without knowing it's sectarian background, but I understand it might upset some fans,

Background:
Being overcautious, but just in case there is even the smallest chance of misunderstanding for my suggesting this song.
I come from a family consisting of  a Catholic father, a Protestant mother, went to a High Church School and supported the Toon!

In honour of the Dickies tour of NZ and their ability to construct a 35 year plus career from one song (The Tra La La Song) pinched from a sixties American kids show, The Banana Splits Adventure Hour

 "Uh-oh, Chongo!"

One stripey, two stripey, three stripey, four

Four stripeys make a Fever and so do many more.

Over hill and highway the Yellow Fever go

Comin'on to bring you the Black and Yellow show

Tra la la, la la la la

Tra la la, la la la la

Tra la la, la la la la

Tra la la, la la la la

Four stripey, three stripey, two stripey, one

All stripeys playing in the Wellington sun,

Flipping like a pancake, popping like a cork,

    Fleagle, Bingo, Drooper and Snork

Tip for young players, these are the original show's characters' names. They could be changed to Phoenix players or YF names, just became too difficult

"Hold the bus!"

Updated for 2014/15:

Abide with me; fast falls our finals hopes;

the darkness deepens; can the Fever cope?

When casual fans all fall away and flee,

Wellington Phoenix, O abide with me.

Swift to its close another loss today;

earth's joys grow dim; Victory pulls away;

angst and despair in the forum I see;

Wellington Phoenix, O abide with me.

I need thy presence every passing hour.

What but thy grace can foil Adelaide's power?

Who, like thyself, my guide and stay can be?

Wellington Phoenix, O abide with me.

I fear no foe, with Ernie’s midfield press;

Jests are lightweight, and Heart has no success.

Where is the Bling? Where, grave, Perth Glory?

We triumph still, Phoenix abide with me.

Put up thy cross before they close thee down;

ghost through the gap, like goals scored by Tim Brown.

McGlinchey breaks, and scores to make it three;

Wellington Phoenix, O abide with me.
