I can see him getting picked up by a League two team (having a UK passport will certainly help) - Blackpool are in the crap financially, it might be as much about saving money as anything else.

Just noting that 'released' means his contract ended (and in this case, they didn't take up an option to extend it), so not really an indication of cut-throated-ness at all. Should be a L2 team willing to take a punt.

Of course not, but it's not like it will have come as a shock.

Cameron must have at least thought about it coming when he wasn't offered a contract for the whole rest of the season

Because his contract's ended. Most people know when their contracts end.

with an expectation they will be offered another one. I dont know why you think it was so cut and dry that he thought they wouldnt renew. He was back playing and appearing in a world cup and blackpool are hardly in the premier league. He may well of known he was going butbi dont see how you came to that conclusion without any facts to back it up - or rumour for that matter

Not sure there's ever an expectation of anyone getting offered a new one anywhere. I spoke to him a few weeks back, and he said 'there is an option' and it very much sounded like he wasn't too sure it would get taken up - he hasn't been playing for anyone in the UK, and got had a loan cut short early.

He may well have been hoping for it to have been, or for a good WC effort, but the facts are his contract was ending, so again, he would not have been shocked that it has ended.

So the answer to my question of 'why do you think that?' should of been answered with 'I spoke to him a few weeks back.....' thanks for wasting 10 minutes of my life responding to you lol

I didn't think he was that great against USA. His yellow card made me laugh a bit. I know this kid has loads of potential though

Hard to say - I saw a guy from Cork City just got signed on a 3 year deal by Preston North End - probably a decent feeder league with varying abilities - English lower league sides shop there so a good opportunity to get spotted

It's professional, but just. According to google the average wages of League One where he came from is 69k GBP, the average wage in the Premier Division in Ireland is 14k GBP

Good way to build himself back up, even better with the manager that singed him for Black Pool.

Cut by Limerick who have a new coach. Back to England to try find a new team.

Career has sadly nosedived since that bad injury in Oman.

Makes you feel for him eh. I remember that...real shame when you get injured like that while playing for the NT and your career suffers as a result.

The previous Limerick manager Neil McDonald, signed Cameron having worked with him at Blackpool. McDonald left Ireland in early Jan, to become assistant manager at Scodhorpe, so maybe a small chance Cameron could join him and Clayton Lewis there.

Though Cameron was hardly getting any game time (didn't feature in a match day squad since October last year) for Limerick in the Irish Premier Division, a league which would be lower quality than League One in the England.

Hopefully doesn't end up on the pro footballer scrapheap at age 20.

Too old for Weenix?

Maybe ex AWs coach Hudson could help get him a USL gig stateside. Colorado Springs (though not a feeder side for MLS Colorado Rapids?) are nearby. Hudson after all picked him for that Oman game, where sadly it all went pear shaped.

So time somewhere different, away from the UK winter lower league football grind (he's pretty slight) - may re spark his career. He's still young.

Not good enough for Colorado and don't think he's good enough for the Phoenix.

Not that he has a strong connection to New Zealand, but maybe worth a crack in the National League.

Not good enough for football at say USL level? I think he'd go close.

Basically before that bad ACL  injury, he was impressing at Blackpool first in The Championship (2015/16 with 10 starts) & then League One (2016/17 with 12 starts). Those aren't total rubbish comps.

Maybe he just needs a new beginning in a less physical league, with the sun shining, a chance to enjoy his football and get some confidence back. Yeah that could be the Handy Prem for a season.

Was very promising as a 17 year old, starting as a CM in the Championship. He's definitely good enough technically, whether he still has the mental qualities to play top level football after his injury is a different story. Agree that a more positive playing environment would be beneficial but the Handy Prem level is better suited for academy players who never made the first team, I think the Nix should be asking him some questions on his commitment to the game and looking to bring him over if interested.

He struggled to get in the team at the Under-20 World Cup and has now bombed in Ireland. I thought he was very promising but appears as if the injury has really impacted things.

Knee injuries are honestly the worst.

When I was 17, I got asked to play reserves at Glenfield Rovers and I spent months trying to crack first team there. Halfway through the season, my knee went.

Not saying I was ever going to be the same quality as Henry Cameron, but I had an eye for first team. Its honestly soo difficult to recover from a knee injury.

With Cameron, and as mentioned above, he's still young and has a shot at making professional career out of it, but as my coach always told me after my knee injury, I needed to work on mental confidence. That's what Cameron I feel is lacking after that.

Not true.

Need to change the heading of this thread back to "Henry Cameron Limerick FC"

He's been on he bench the last two weeks for Limerick in the league.

Has a contract till the end of this season in November.

Mentioned as being on the bench in last week's match report on the club website:

http://www.limerickfc.ie/match-report-limerick-col...

They are only six games into their season which runs February - October.

Must have just been out injured for Limerick's first four games.

His stats for this season:

https://us.soccerway.com/players/henry-cameron/326...

His team mate from last season at Limerick, striker Garbhan Coughlan signed for Southern United at the beginning of the ISP Handa Premiership season in NZ. He complained in the Irish media about clubs like Limerick being fulltime but paying part-time wages. He'd rather work fulltime in NZ and play part-time....

The ‘news’ that he was cut by Limerick, was copied from NZF’s weekly wrap of NZ overseas players. I guess they had bad intel.

Still yet to nail down a regular spot at Limerick.

In 2018 he's had 3 starts (including a Cup game) and been on the bench 5 times.

Limerick sitting 9th in the 10 team league.

Nothing to report since April 26th - apart from his AWs callup.

Has not been in a match day squad since 30th April. Season in Ireland is still going, but Cameron not required for last 4 games.

Someone at NZ must rate his  form, to get him called up.

Was he a first team regular in England before his injury? Sport can be a harsh business. Possibly someone in NZ recognises that he still has the raw talent, despite injury setting him back considerably.

Hopefully a trip to CWC and a NZ summer stint can get his career back on track. Tough couple of years since bad knee injury.
