At Wests we continue to follow the youth development programme we have in place and this has taken a giant leap forward with our partnership with Ole and the association we have now formed with a Swedish club allowing our players to play in Europe and continue their development. This means the redeployment of our Technical Director Declan Edge to Sweden where not only will he continue our players development but also his own development.
After this game I'm hoping more quality young kiwis from acadamies like this will flood our National League and help improve the standards. Giving them oportunities to play at the highest level can only help their development.
Big fan of what Ole, Western Suburbs and Eastern Suburbs are doing for kiwi players.

Doesn't read like a purchase, but full respect to Edge and Ole and Wests for having the guts to do this. Ideally this unnamed club climbs the divisions, and gives kiwis a chance to develop and make it in Europe - and / or, at some point, make their way back to the A league.

Interesting when the latest science suggests that 16:8 intermittent fasting diets are better for maintaining a healthy weight and even increasing muscle mass at the same time - and you can eat any healthy food you like while doing it.
They also tell teenage boys to specialize only in football, when the science says that being an all-rounder until you are 15/16 is better for sporting development, overuse injuries and may prevent burn out. Many young players leave Ole burnt out.
They tell their players not to play for their schools, fair enough due to injury, but also not to run cross country and not to go on field trips, even when those field trips involve physical activity like tramping and biking.
Some students, of course, are strong-minded and ignore these dictates. Now that Papa Joe Edge is in Sweden. The mice may play a bit more.
