From what I saw the officialing was abizmal and our attack looked rather toothless.  If Marco has been playing like that in Europe, it would not surprise me at all if he gets released and struggles to pick up a decent contract somewhere there.

Solomons much more enjoyable to watch than us. Daudau esp.
Patterson seems to give the midfield some direction, Wihongi did well. What a sad end to the game. Both teams could get done for match fixing.

What was wrong with the 'officialing'? Bloody Kosta couldn't even cope with being onside for the first half.

We are winning, its a bit hot and cold but give the team some time to gel and I'm sure we'll get to a good level by the end of it. We're missing that extra dagger in the middle/up front. Rojas looks a shadow of the player that won the Johnny Warren. Dyer looked pretty handy he needs to atleast get into ASB prem side. TAHW was rock solid and carried his form from ACFC. Kosta was dangerous. Overall we had plenty of chances against a team that bus parked all game and countered.

Most comments on here have been spot on but I don't get how anyone could say that Moses Dyer looked ok. He is so far away from international standard that I just don't see how he gets anywhere near the squad, let alone on the pitch. Absolutely baffling.

Yep, agreed. I thought we looked a lot better tonight, and I said that when we were still 0-0. Obviously things to work on, but at least we tried to play a little.

Lets just say that with Dyer I expected far worse like the previous shark that he's shown us, you also gotta remember at which league this guy is playing in (still don't know how he ever got selected) compared to the guy on the opposite side of field (Rojas) and that guy from a proven league wasn't firing today either (though the neat flick on was nice). The timing looked off in the whole frontline attack such as when Dyer needed to move it quicker to Ridentons run and when Kosta/Brockie running offside from through balls. When the timing clicks it would be a dangerous combo but tonight it didn't. I think we could do with another big guy up front like Hamish Watson when Wood is out, it looks like we were too shy to pull the trigger on the break and wanted to tap into the net.

It would be nice to see Rogerson start and have Fallon come on in the 2nd half to replace him. Although I consider him the poorman's version of Ryan De Vries, Logan has injected life and speed into the attacking third.

TV you are so right  about your comments about Hay and Dyer but the same could be said about Fallon his old man was always banging on about how bad Hudson is and his team selections but we haven't heard a thing lately. Is Dyer a clean living boy because that's how Hudson likes his players to be that's why he picks kids. Can someone tell why Smeltz pulled out I see he played for Sydney two days later.

I think Dyer has potential personally. He is only 18 and to be fair, very few internationals look the goods at 18. And as mentioned Rojas a proven professional was equally bad.

He has some technical ability and is an athlete. If he learns to think a little faster and read the game better he could become a better player.

I think Hudson has full confidence in winning this comp and is using it as an opportunity to give players some exposure.

He couldn't earn a contract in the ASB Premiership, an amateur competition. I think he and Damian Hirst (3rd GK) are the only ones from the U20s who are only playing winter football. De Jong, Hudson-Wihongi, Lewis, Blake, all the others midfilders were capable of at least getting a gig in the ASBP, and actually did pretty good. So, why does Hudson hace to insist on an average player having better ones to choose?

From tonight's performance id play the following team for the semi:

Mar (GK). Surprised no one else given a run really but has done everything needed.

Boxall (RB). Seems to be where he plays now rather than centrally. For me Fenton has had a poor tournie- good ticket but impotent on attack. Boxall offers more both going forwards at at set pieces. Will make up for lack of height elsewhere.

Themi. (CB). Solid and reads game well. Will not be an option against the SA teams as lacks pace (like Durante). But against OFC opposition a perfect CB for knockout games.

Adams (CB). Done all asked of him. Positionally sound.

Ridenton (LB). Personally was very suprised Doyle didn't start v the Solomans and dissapointed that Colvey has underwhelmed. Ridenton is not a natural but got up and down very well. He'll pick Colvey though...

Hudson- Wihongi (DM). Has real talent. Probably has the best 20-40 metre pass in the team. Crisp and accurate. Did well playing out of position too. He'll play Bill but Hudson is showing the benefit of playing regular minutes for a winning team ( and the confidence that brings) that is well coached.

Wee Mac (CM). Not his natural position but has a good engine and as long as doesn't get dragged out of position is a good option.

Kosta (RM). Looking fit and sharp.

Patterson (AM). Great energy and wants the ball. Can support Wood and feed off flick ons but also link with K and Marco.

Rojas (LM). Only picked because I know he can do better and just really want to see it.

Wood (or Fallon if unfit). Don't need both.

Subs.

Rogerson. Has done well. Love the confidence.

Others in brackets above plus Brockie.

We'll be fine.... Despite the scoreline suggesting we played worse than v Vanuatu we were much better. Just need to press these teams and Wood will do the rest..

If you are going to accuse someone with being abysmal, you should at least learn how to spell it.

PNG thrashed Samoa 8-0, so they are definitely through, Tahiti have to beat New Caledonia now to make it...I gotta say that the attacking skills of PNG are a joy to watch...I wish NZ would be as creative and quick ?

Wow, Nick Waldron blowing the whistle just as Bertrand Kai is away with the ball one on one with the keeper. What an awful ref.

So if there are 5 minutes of extra time and a player is fouled in the penalty area at 94:50 they won't have enough time for a penalty? Okay then. Usually if a dangerous attacking play is taking place they don't end the half.

No if a penalty is given the team awarded get to take it regardless of the time left. Play would end after the penalty was taken. - A penalty is the only case where this can happen. If the ball is in play and no fouls have been committed the ref calls time when time is up.

After watching OFC highlights on YouTube, it appeared from the editing that Tahiti had more one on one chances to beat new Caledonia. The AW's may have avoided a semi-final banana skin there. It looks like new Caledonia can be opened up by diagonal long balls - AW modus operandi.

The PNG side play with a lot of flair and combination play - are great adverts for OFC football. If they can get past the Solomon's and we do the job against new Caledonia then a mouth watering final against the hosts ensues. Hopefully 10,000 screaming home fans ..... the bright light for the AW'S is that PNG love to attack but are weaker on defence. 3-2 to the AW's

Yes unfortunately,I do. The biggest tosspot referee of them all. Thought the game was about him, and the players mere supporting characters. Ask Ipswich, Everton, Dutch and Brazilian fans of a certain vintage what they think of him. Here" a snippet of a BBC article about the 1976 European Championship, in which Thomas " left his mark ". The massive ego of the man shines through:

Is Thomas disappointed that the Welsh footballers of his generation never got to experience the 1976 finals in Yugoslavia, as he did?

"It was a shame Wales didn't get there. But I got to the semi-finals because they didn't," he explained.

"Talk about Ryan Giggs, Ian Rush, Mark Hughes, all of them. Not one of them have had what I had. I've been to the World Cup and to the European Cup. None of them have gone to a finals."

I've no problems with the Ferns being on the main Sky Sport channels but I would question why replays of the All Whites games can't be on the main Sky Sport channels when they have four channels broadcasting 24 hours a day.

That way those interested could have watched the replays of the AW's on Fan Pass if they were at reasonable times.

Even if the live AW's broadcasts couldn't be on the main channels due to conflicting with other live sport.

Australian Matildas v Football Ferns Coverage on SKY SPORT

Game 1: Saturday June 4 in Ballarat, 5pm LIVE SKY Sport 1 (Highlights June 4, 9:30pm SKY Sport 4)

Game 2: Tuesday June 7 in Melbourne, 7pm LIVE SKY Sport 1 (Highlights June 7, 10:30pm SKY Sport 2)

Maybe the thinking at Sky is "The Ferns are playing Australia. That's more important than the All Whites matches which are only against tin pot Island countries..."

Not sure you put your normal excellent level of research into this one.  Replays have been and continue to be on sport channels

I probably hadn't noticed that because they have been on at rubbish times (I watch the games live).

For example, the only replay of the All Whites Wednesday semi on one of the main Sports channels is at 8.30 am the next morning when no working person or student with Fan Pass could watch it.

Anyway, I can't see any excuse for not having the All Whites semi at 6 pm on Wednesday live on one of the main Sports channels when there is no live sport on at all.

Instead they have 'Land Rover First XV Replay" on Sky Sport 1 and Aussie sports magazine show "the Backpage" on Sport 2 and nothing much on sport 3 and 4.

Sorry about the Apple iPad American predictive spelling.  Just  called it as I saw it on the iPad at work, while ensuring numerous passengers safely got to their destinations around the world.

I was not impressed with one of the linesmen or one or two of the calls from the referee from what I saw on a dodgy 4g connection.  Each to their own....

your right they could have put the semi on sport 1, 2 ,3 or 4 - but as I have explained before (rightly or wrongly) they do like to have all games from one tournament (especially short format ones) on the same channel to avoid viewer confusion.

At the end of the day there is 800,000 households with SKY (roughly) and they can all watch this - yes the fanpass thing is something that needs to be fixed but it's not like these games are on complete lock down from viewers.

Also not quite sure why you brought up replays in the first place if you by your own words only watch games live - you said they were not on Sport 1-4, but they were - that was all I was saying.
