So, now into the 2nd half of the league season. Time to review the coach's contract:

AW make the WC...check
Nix in line for the play-offs... check (so far)

Dear Mr Herbert, please accept an offer to extend your contract for another year.

Oh, sorry: Forgot that had already been sorted. Carry on!

perth sydney draw def the result for us - looking quite likely at the moment - am impressed how perth are going tho, given how mucked around they are with injuries, suspensions.

No worries. We have a three point gap and a massive goal difference going into the next round.

Top 6 have slipped a little gap....3 points to seventh. its still tight as a ducks bum but we have to feel much more confident about the way the season is unfolding. Our 6 point positive goal difference could be key.
We realy should be aiming to finish 4th...to get the home semi game...that would be awsome.

Melb, Sydney and the mariners look good for top 6. I reckon GC could still unravel. Perth are hugely inconsistent but they have talent. Can't see much action from those below us though Adelaide can upset sides.

If we keep playing the way we are and avoid injuries to key players then 4th is not impossible!

Playoffs:
3rd v 6th
4th v 5th
Both one legged ties.

1st v 2nd
Two legs - winner straight to grand final with right to host (subject to ground)

Winner 3rd/6th v winner 4th/5th
One legged - IIRC if 6th beat 3rd then 4th/5th hosts.

Loser 1st/2nd v Winner 3rd/6th/4th/5th
One legged tie - winner to grand final.

Grand final.

Is that really how it works?? I thought It'd be 1v 6, 2v5, 3v4? Isnt that how it works in league? Or maybe they have eight?  Gah I'm confused now. Well if it is they way it works, then its pretty much a knockout tournament for 3rd to 6th with the right to try and break into the grand final. Seems very likely that there will be three 1st vs 2nd games

2007/08 - 1v2 three times in playoffs
2008/09 - 1v2 three times in playoffs

I would like a two legged playoff somewhere in there for the teams who are 3rd to 6th? Winner of 3v6  vs 4v5   could be over two legs? Maybe start the 1v2 legs at the same time? Would make the games more meaningful

60% of the league going into the playoffs does seem a bit much. I think it's been done to keep the season alive for longer for the lower-mid teams - there being no relegation to try and avoid. And they way they've done it means there is home advantage to be sought, so that teams having made the playoffs still have an interest in maximising their finishing position. Then I think they've probably gone one-legged to try and reduce the number of games in the playoffs a little. Just my intepretation, there could easily be other factors I'm not considering.
