No idea but these are when they came out the last few seasons:

18/19 - 11th July

17/18 - 22nd June

16/17 - 9th June

15/16 - 28th June

Guess it all depends on how many changes have to be made from the original draws

It might take a little longer this time... the draw is being decided by the marketing department

Based on the Victory game there in Feb, getting about 12,000 more than any game at Westpac - be stupid not too.

Admittedly the feel good factor around the Phoenix peaked at about that time.

But big crowds are good for the metrics, and the pockets of Welnix - esp if the new CEO at Eden Park, is making the venue more attractive financially, as reported. Lets not forget they just had to pay $1M extra of their hard earned, to the FFA to keep the club alive.

So Wgtn Nix fans should have no problem with games at EP, as long as stupid (in hindsight) ideas like going to Campbeltown are shelved.

No problem with 2 games at Eden Park but dont kid yourself that because they got that crowd last season its going to happen twice in the new season. That attendance was vastly different to what happened the last few times games that were played in Auckland.

Frankly think thats the real test to see if they can back that attendance up.

Exactly. The Nix were a team in form with some great play. Picking a game there on or around Feb 5th. Time will prove if Auckland will back it.

Ethier that or us vs Western United. Can't see them not going for one of those two options.

Key Points for the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 Season

  • 11 Clubs
  • 29 Rounds (13 Home/Away matches per club - 3 Byes per club)
  • Round One 11-13 October 2019
  • Round 29: 24-26 April 2020
  • No break for FIFA International dates
  • No Split Rounds (Bye preference for 3 clubs participating in the AFC Champions League 2020)
  • Hyundai A-League 2020 Finals Series structure remains the same (Elimination Finals (3v6 & 4v5), Semi Finals (1 v lowest ranked winner from Elimination Finals, 2 v highest ranked winner from Elimination Finals,) and the Grand Final)
  • Hyundai A-League 2020 Grand Final – weekend of 16/17 May 2020 Opponent Match-up Weightings – Methodology
    • Due to the uneven number of Rounds for Season 2019/20 (e.g. 29 Rounds / 26 matches per Club), each Club will play a minimum of two matches against each other Club.
    • Select “third” opponent match-ups will be determined according to agreed methodology.

    Key Principles

    • Priority 1: Maximise Hyundai A League broadcast metrics
    • Priority 2: Fairness and competition integrity for all clubs
    • Priority 3: Maximise Hyundai A-League attendance metrics and other commercial priorities
    • Draw to be made in July

This has probably been mentioned before, but how exactly can you run a professional sports competition when your number one priority is not fairness?

It's similar for AFL & NRL. Uneven draws. All about maximising derbies, TV revenue etc.

For the highly competitive Australian sports market need to draw comparisons far more with the USA, rather than Europe's long running 'perfect' draw football competitions.

I am picking that the marketing department at the nIx will make our first home game in NZ at Eden Park

With the owners banking on a decent crowd because we did ok last year and it's the season opener

And the second game, same time as last season, hoping we have the same momentum at that point.

“This season, clubs will play each other twice with and additional six matches per club that will see some clubs play each other three times over 29 rounds. A methodology has also been agreed as to determine the additional six matches."

Does anyone know anything about this methodology?

If it is about priority one then it will be all about ensuring there are lots of derby matches. This should mean we get bonus fixtures against CCM, Jets, Brisbane etc and might avoid Victory, Bling, City etc....

Shambolic, but maybe not a bad result for us.

Surely there were four more weeks in the calendar for a full third round, or lose 6 weeks and bring the FFA Cup closer to the start of the regular season or bring back the preseason cup. Or do the Scottish thing and split into a top and bottom half after two full rounds.

Fox Sports only wants a certain amount of games, 26 rounds + Finals.

Blow away the finals and have a league format for the league. Oh look, there's 4 more weeks to use for games.

Leave the cup format for cup games like real footballing places.

*Sigh* An already short season get's a little shorter.

Seeing this word 'metrics' being bandied about again... Fudge the metrics, let's just see some good football.

Oh well, let's hope we get a run going in the FFA Cup, may be able to squeeze in a few more matches to the season if we get through a couple of rounds.

Think we need a few more genuine signings if we have any chance of this. Some goal scorers would help.

But yes I am sick also of the word 'metrics'. I thought this was an entertainment industry, maybe they should be more focused on that wording.

I've got faith that we'll end up putting together a good squad over the coming month or two so don't have too many concerns over that. As it stands we've got 12 players signed with what sounds like (hopefully) a few more coming in over the coming weeks. At the same time last season when the FFA Cup kicked off iirc, we had 15/16 players signed up. Still got the all important import slots to fill too so hopefully we start getting a couple across the line before our first competitive match of the season.

I just wish we'd take the FFA Cup a bit more seriously - It'd be good to get at least a couple of meaningful matches under our belt before the season proper kicks off, even the chance to play other A-League sides which could provide a gauge of where we're at and where we stand going into another season.

I understand it's basically a mickey mouse cup, but I look at it as a chance for us to get off to a positive start to the season. Wouldn't it be great if we at least made a run at it and make the Aussies think we're about to steal their precious Cup!

No other A-League clubs really take it seriously; it's hard to when most teams don't have their full squads by then and are barely into pre-season. You've got to time the intense training properly to make a good run of it at the end of the season.

My biggest worry is that I've heard basically no rumours regarding any imports.

I wonder if the imports we go for are dependent on what’s happening with our involvement in the league. Wasn’t there supposed to be a report or something due at the end of this month?
