Got out of jail there, but good enough to do it.  Except for the great hole in the middle without Mandi and Rufer we aren't a bad football side.

Brilliant work by Rudan to change the set up at half time.  Nicholls will be crushed.  The young WBs ran almost all day again.  Cillian looked very good again for the most part.  Krishna worked hard while getting some pretty heavy marking.  Williams isn't quite a genius but he has some pace, can bury an opportunity with class and works very hard.

D was caught out badly a couple of times, partly due to Dura overplaying his hand, and we still look at bit vulnerable for corners, but otherwise mostly solid again.

At 3-2 with time to score again we shut up shop - tells me the boys were pretty tired.  Great character to pull this one back with weary legs.

Looking forward to see what we can do freshened up a bit in a week and back to a full squad.

Excited and noisy crowd again after half time.  Good to see.  Agree the Cash for the Gate was distracting, but hey, we can't really complain about the club putting up $30k for some punter to win.  Hope he comes back.

I saw people moving around towards the end of the game, i was horrified, i thought they were leaving early, I called them out over it (even though they couldn't hear me) but someone kindly said that theyre trying to find their seats for the cash cow. If youre on this thread thank you.

People were sitting in our seats when we arrived so we were part of the sea of moving people. Apologies for that. And too damn right I'll be back. I've been a season ticket holder since day dot

Ok in no particular order:
1. Do we have a Rudan YF tee? If not we must do one right away - he's the great architect of our universe. He has turned this team from a bunch of boys into men. They will sell like hot cakes!
2. The club is heading in the right direction - screw the dance cam, bring on the safe smoke and prize for breaking 10k pax BUT please le clarify if you need to be sitting in your seat or hold the ticket for the right seat to claim the price. Most people don't sit in their assigned seats and I happened to be very close to the winner and the last 15' of the game were utterly ruined by a sea of people moving about and blocking everyone's view.
3. How on earth was that 1st penalty given?
4. Great to the the Sheriff killing it once more. He was actually pretty average after the 3rd goal... It's almost like he's our come back man! Keep him as an impact player as long as you can!

Very much this! People even made the kids a few rows in front of me move so they could sit in their ticketed seats.

wow - what a rush that was. Nichols has done everything he can to keep himself off the park going forward. Get Rufer and Mandi back ASAP. Start Cillian! he has made instant impact everytime! He leads the front line brilliantly.

Who does he replace in the starting 11 though. Certainly not Krishna and Williams scored again.

the comments about Nicholls are harsh. He was no worse than anyone else in that first half, but was the obvious victim with Rudan’s change of plan. No lack of effort from him.

Agreed, so many players coughed up possession in that dismal first half; it was Nichols bad luck that his one error led to the goal. He's not a defensive mid and everyone knows it but he is a very dangerous player in his preferred position further up the park.

Over 10,000 people turning up to that match in a city of 200,000, with a wider urban area of 420,000 (Porirua, the Hutt, etc)

Around 2.5% of the entire urban area was in that stadium tonight.

Victory's attendance was 16,000, in a city of 5 million. Even if we half that accounting for City fans (generous), that's 0.3% of fans turning up.

Wellington got more than EIGHT times their population to their game than the Victory. But we're still not good enough?

Actually thought he came into the game far more in the last 10-15 mins of the first half.

Still he lost possession leading to CCM's 2nd goal, and him & Kopa were generally beasted by Melling.

Unless there are injuries, hard to see him being anything other than a bit player for rest of the reason.

Big complement to Rufer, that he was obviously missed so much.

Both back verus Victory. Mandi's suspension reduced to 2 matches.

Rudan still has 2 non visa spots to fill. Hopefully one of them is a quality DM.

Rufer has serious game intelligence.

Making sure his yellow card accumulations came against the bottom placed team in the league. Back for the big games of Vuc and Sydney FC.

Sorry, misread the MRP decision from right after the Adelaide match where they were seeking a 3 match ban. Seen now it was only 2 matches so yes he will be available for the trip to Melbourne.

Correct. Mandi is back, so we'll have Rufer and Mandi in mid.

If I was Rudan, I would be moving Kopy back instead of Doyle. I think he adds a lot back there in terms of playing out from the back.

For me it's either you play Doyle back there, and expect more long ball - and, in tern, play Sheridan up top to flick it on to Krishna. If not, you play Kopy and leave Sheridan on the bench, with a focus on playing through the lines.

I think Sheridan remains on the bench for now. Still seems (as you would expect) a disconnect between timing his runs, and his team mates passes.

Another week or two on the training paddock should help sort that out.

Funny how lots of people got annoyed because some said this wouldn't be an easy win.

That was a match to remember. Can't believe how bad we were in the first half. Worrysome.

Not complaining though, 8 games undefeated. Even if we lose a game at some point, which of course will happen, I hope we can get nearer the football we were playing a few weeks ago. Maybe teams have got on to our gameplan? I dunno.

Great win from 2 behind regardless.

Ecstatic to walk away with 3 points after that first half performance.

Each week the refereeing and VAR (or lack of) still continues to amaze me.

Can someone please explain to me how the dangerous studs up challenge on Fenton towards the end of the second half; where the player went off the ground and didn't get anywhere near the ball was anything other than a red card? Why wasn't it looked at by the VAR?

DIRECT RED CARD INCIDENTS

The role of the VAR is to ensure that no clearly wrong decisions are made in conjunction with sending off or not sending off a player.

Taken from the Fifa VAR website.

Chris Kerr on twitter mentioned a directive that contact on the ankle is generally considered yellow and above is red, so he thought it was borderline. I thought it was red because of the intent and lack of control, but don't think it was a clear and obvious error for var

Loved the drama! The first half was rubbish. We can’t play like this against better teams, they will not let us coming back like the CCM. We have to play better, we are riding our luck for the last 3 games and if we run out we start loosing games.

Second half started with a great tactical change, Singh deeper and a bit more attacking power with bringing Sheridan, is obviously a great player but lacking a bit of service, he‘s starting runs behind the defense but our ‚old‘ guys are still tacking a 2nd and 3rd touch instead passing to him. Look at his pass to Krishna that leads to the first pen, I guess he is expecting similar stuff.

Great work by Fenton and Cacace their work rate was outstanding, Fenton did almost no mistakes but lacking a bit the final run and pass.

Atmosphere was great, but giving away the $30k in the 88 min was super distracting.

Not sure what you are trying to prove?

CCM supporters could say they have been there from the start of this league. Have won major prizes with a population of about 160000.

MV supporters might say that they have had crowds of 30 to 60 thousand and have an average 17000 attendance. Have also won lots of trophies.

It is 10 years since we had our biggest crowd of nearly 12000 and have won zero.

Agree with you about Kopa think our best football has been played when he has been at the back linking with Mandi and Rufer. Love the impact of Sheridan off the bench wonder if he would have same impact if starting.

Can I just make a note on how shark red badge security are at their job. A bit concerning really. Seriously whos hiring these unfit people.

Ive been looking at those guys the last few weeks and been thinking who are you gonna catch, you certainly couldnt keep up with me.

One guy was more concerned about dropping his walkie talkie, one guy who at least looked fit didnt know what was going on.

I think in the end the invader let himself get caught. But thats a massive safety concern that there run is my power walk.

Side note, if youre gonna invade the pitch at least lose the pants and do it properly (no homo).

We all know Kopa doesn't play well there, but that was out of necessity. I thought, as did my friend, Nicholls was the worst player on the park by a country mile. And given the rest of the team were pretty woeful in the first, I think that's saying something. Sad for him but he can't cut it, emergency player at best. As you say, it's a huge credit to rufer as to how much we missed him yesterday.

Still buzzing from that result ??

I thought he improved as the half went on and as we started to attack towards the end of the 1st 45 he was heavily involved and played a couple of great passes. Was clear that he massively lacks match fitness. Has he not been playing for the WeeNix?

I thought Sheri went missing after the third goal and only reappeared when we were time wasting at the end.

Desperately disappointing first 40 mins.      Shambles at times.   Several occasions 2 Nix players colliding going for the same ball.     Too much aerial ping pong in our 6 yard area with Kurto immobile on his line.       Lucky were weren't dead and buried by halftime.       Smart 2nd half sub and tactical change by Rudan.          Made for a pulsating final 45 mins.     Another welcome 3 points and club record.       If Rufer and Mandi pick up more cards or suffer long term Injuries the alternatives are,  at present, inadequate as I'm sure Rudan is well aware of.          I think that Singh, as a lightly built teenager,  needs to be carefully managed.       Takes a fair amount of punisment and looked completely shattered when he came off.          Krishna's work rate is astonishing, never stops running.   Sheridan looks a decent signing,  good vision and awareness although, for a big man, I thought some of his challenges for the high ball were a bit weak.

Tough job these Wing backs have,   expected to possess the attacking skills of George Best ,Bobby Moore's defensive qualities, the speed of a sprinter and the stamina of a marathon runner.       Just about an impossible demand I would thought.

Lovely, balmy Wellington night for football....best I can remember for ages.      Decent crowd well led, as ever, by the Yellow Fever.      Good effort from the Mariner's.    Still going for the equaliser when down to 10 men.        The booing when their player was taking the deserved penalty was disgraceful.        No need to stoop to that level.

You are kidding right you expect the fever to be nice and quiet while the opposition take a penalty dont care if its debatably deserved or not. It was bloody Simon that earned it and if you think the fever are going stay silent for that reason alone you really are kidding.
