For something to do how do we judge this quality.

How legendary are Taylor, Ball and Hooper so far? How far behind Ifill are they?

Home finals run would definitely have helped.

Who would make a top 5 legends of the Nix? Can one goal get you a place?

Think this will last us 4 weeks?

Longevity certainly matters (so Ifill over Ball, Davila, Burns) but performances are more important (so, for example, Roly over Bertos, or Cacace over Doyle).

None of the guys you mentioned are close to Ifill right now - if Taylor stays another two-ish seasons, which he will, and we achieve some decent success I'd see him in the top 5 ahead of guys like Daniel, Brown, Greenacre, Siggy

Top three for me right now (in no particular order) is Krishna, Durante, Ifill, and I suspect that's the same for most guys here. Past that it's murky

Roly over Bertos? Leaving us for WSW and then having your career fizzle wouldn't seem to me to be legend making... attitude has gotta play a part too.

Manny was a legend!

Some interesting match ups

Greenacre, Ifil, Smeltz or Krishna for our top striker. Greeny gets points for staying on and coaching.

In the mids, who was the best out of Brown, Davilla, Lia, Daniel, Singh

And for the backs, Durante, Boxall, Taylor, Siggy or Manny.

For me, its Greeny, his work rate hasn't been matched until maybe now through ball.

Davilla for the mids, never had a player like him Singh would of potentially grown into that, but left for bigger things understandably.

Manny for the backs, could play either side, never gave anything less than everything.

Mossy has to be in the mix as well.

Ifill, Siggie, Manny, Dura top tier legends. Brown, Smeltz, Krishna & Mossy also in the mix. And Greenie, Vinnie & Daniel thereabouts.

A top-10 legends ladder (in order) would be a good thread

Then there's iconic things Ifill's limp and goal in the Newcastle final, headbandages for Browny, Manny or Siggie

Davila has had a few iconic moments already.

No one mentions Reddy or Vukovic- cos they moved on? It's hard to say Marco, Singh or Kosta are club legends I'd argue

What about Burns that one bright season?

there was a thread for this a few years ago but cannot be bothered hunting for it.people voted and a list was compiled pretty hard for players that have only been here for 1 or 2 seasons to suddenly be called legends.a legend is built over time, they are good players maybe great players but need to be around a bit longer to become legends.

We've had a legendary season though? Our most successful. My feeling is that legends are about how they win over the fans...the way they played and got the croud going and the impression that they left.

Taylor in his second year...

If Hooper had helped us win or go deep in the finals this year, but had only the partial season cameo I'd say he could still be a legend. Different to our best players or the best clubmen IMO

Disapointed  seems none of you understand the importance of a head band. Also think there is a difference between a Phoenix legend and being classed as one of the Phoenixs best players. In my opinion you dont have to be one of the best players to be called a Phoenix legend.

Legends XI for me. Greenie gets the nod over Smeltz for his length of service, on the field attitude and contributions he's made since retiring. I'd give Cacace the nod over Lochhead for his outstanding play, being a Wellington born, Phoenix made player and being I believe the youngest player to 50 caps. Riera unlucky to miss out on the starting XI but Vinnie's longevity and status as a foundation player pips it for me. Bertos and Fenton get in there on the bench for their longevity and Singh gets a spot for being the best ever Phoenix made player (so far). Moss makes the starting XI over Paston for the number of games he played and for being one of the best keepers in the league for a long time. I'd expect to see Rufer and Taylor on there soon and wouldn't be surprised to see Dávila, Ball, Devlin, Marinovic and Payne make a case for a spot depending on how long they stay.

perhaps another way of thinking is the players you turn up to see- no disrepect to Dura, but if you think about it that way he was never in that category. Daniel? Definitely. And at the moment there's a lot of players in the team you'd turn up to see. Kinda skews it to attacking players I guess. Again lots of different ways of thinking about legend status.

Last ditch block tackles or saves, winners or equalisers help, never giving up

Brockie an interesting case. Good in a poor team, poor in an okay team- what about him? Some stunning strikes

Don't think he makes it over Krishna, Greenie, Smeltz or Ifill but definitely not a bad shout.

He's our best ever DM in my opinion, Devlin and Steinmann showing signs they could be even better in time. I'd have Lia as more of a legend than him but only just, Riera undoubtedly a better player though.

Vuducovic in goal. The only goalkeeper to score a goal for us. And that shot that hit the crossbar is certainly legendary.

That shot is the reason we still shout "shoooot" when our keeper has the ball and we're playing with the wind.

Not so sure we have enough players who could be classed as Phoenix Legends. Don't think all those who arguably make the best of team can be classed as Phoenix Legends . Also should a Phoenix legend be only players, would like to think Rusty would be considered a Phoenix Legend.

I know he is not a RB but he's a good player and he's in my 11, think he was a better footballer than Muscat/Fenton

If Fred's father had not passed away, he would have stayed longer. He was good to watch. And Piney forgot Ahmed Elrich - The Pie Man.

He may not have stayed for very long but I probably would have put Matija Ljujic a bit higher up in the rankings.

Ljujic and Steinman need to be higher, I'd have Roly swapped with Steinman in that list. Roly had heaps of promise but never really showed how good he was in the league. Even when he left he kinda failed to impress.
