Figured we may as well have a proper thread for league football, so here it is. My reserves are playing against a team called Ghost Chips United, or GCU for short. Humour on two different levels.

2-3 away win over Pukekohe United sees Earthquake City up into 11th and 8 points above the relegation zone with 6 to play. Some tricky fixtures ahead though so its far too early to celebrate. Wish more of the teams were from Pukekohe - I've played four, won four against the two sides (United and Athletic) in our league.

In less happy news, it looks as if CFC WhatTheFudge is heading for administration. Haven't been active since April 14...

1-0 win over the EP reserves kept my team on the climb. Now sitting in 9th place. Next 3 games are against teams well below everyone else in points so hopefully I can get 3 wins.

My reserves are at the bottom table. All I want my reserves to do is beat the Shaky Boys and overtake them on the table.

Terrible, terrible game by Tawa FC. 3-1 loss. Not what you would expect from promotion contenders.

2-1 win for Peow FC. Had a player get his second yellow in the 80th minute but we managed to hold on. This result catapults me up to 6th on the table. Facing the 16th placed team next so hopefully I can grab another win as there is a bit of a gap between me and the 5th place side.

I need 7 points to secure a spot outside the relegation zone.

I had a very handy 1-1 draw against the team at the top of the premiership. Though teams below me did win,so am 2 points clear of relegation playoff zone.

It's annoying as I probably have a starting 11 to maybe push it for the top 6,but its depth that I struggle to build up.

4 games left in the season now, does anyone else have interesting finishes to the season ahead?

There's a two way battle for the 1st place in our league, between Tawa and Wellington United. United have the upper hand at the moment, two points ahead of me. Going right to the wire.

RRRRivals!

It's a shame you guys don't play each other again in any of the last 4 games with a finish like that, would be a cracker.

I just checked the fixtures to see if it was going to come down to a game against each other :(

Ah well, at least I've got a B team next, so hopefully United trip up.

A 2-0 win took me closer to breaking into the top 5. Facing a few tough teams in the last few games so it will be hard to get any higher.

3-0 win, now in 2nd 9 points behind the leader and 7 points clear of 3rd. Will be happy if it stays that way!

You're dreaming. Shaky Boys thumped your rabble 4-0. Haven't been beaten by either of the other two B teams, three wins and a draw.

First team had a 3-2 win at home. 9 points ahead of relegation zone (C.F.C WhatTheFudge incidentally) with three to play. Ahead on goal difference by 21 too, so its looking good for us to avoid the drop. Might have to set some ultra-defensive tactics to try and meet the season target of goals conceded (can't ship more than four in the final three games to meet it).

6-0 win for me today, and Wellington United could only manage a draw, so we are both on 70 points now! They are ahead of Tawa on goal difference, 58 as opposed to 53, so I will probably need to win all my games and hope maynard slips up to be able to take 1st place.

Not a good night for my teams...

First team lost 1-0 meaning it is unlikely I will climb any higher than 6th with 5th place being 4 points ahead of me and only 3 games remaining. Last 3 games are also against tough opponents although I am pretty much clear of relagation zone.

Reserves got thumped by Shaky Boys solidifying my spot at the bottom of the table as well as being the biggest joke around with 166 goals conceded.

A HUGE round for The Trains. With three games to play they have finally climbed out of the relegation zone.

Lokomotiv pulled out a 0 - 1 away win against Linwood FC... which was fantastic... a much needed 3 points. However what made it even better was that Kiwi Yoghurt Hotspur lost 1 - 0 to The Grudge, AND Parakai Football Club lost 2 - 1 Gore FC, AND Hamilton Tiger Cats were drawn 2 - 2 away to BHB Water Ballooners, but the Ballooners scorted deep into injury time to win it 3 -2!

Oh Daddio. Singing on the Train were in full cry on the train on the way home to Homebush Road. "We're stayin' up! We're stayin' up, in this league..."

So after beating TeeDubs I can't finish anywhere other than 2nd. Promotion secure!

Now I'm gonna play all my young guys for the next couple of games but I have a question about that - how much difference does playing games make to a player's development?

The more routine, the better a player is. Doesn't affect it's development skills wise though.

I won on Friday but am still only 2 points ahead of my mate in the relegation zone with 2 to play. RRRIVALS!

Okay so forgive my stupidity but how is a player "better" if his skills don't improve? Have I just missed a vital part of how this game works? And by routine do you mean playing games?

I looked around the user guide but couldn't find answers so I've come back here. Cheers!

It's built into the match engine,I guess as a multiplier. It takes the whole defense routine (for example) and gives a defense bonus based on routine. Players with no routine will generally be more inconsistent I guess. You get 0.1 routine per game played, and 0.4 for international games

But yeah basically if there are 2 players with exactly the same skills, the one with the higher routine will be better..might sart up the old Q&A thread again,it was quite useful.

Huge night tonight for Tawa FC. If we win and Wellington United fail to win, we will be champions.

Lost 2-1 to the top team on Friday. The top team are currently undefeated and have only drawn once so didn't think I had much of a chance to get points. The result dropped me down to 7th. Quite a congested table so bad results could mean I drop a few places.

Ended up 5-1 at Redwood Park, but Wellington United scraped a 2-1 win. I'm three points ahead with one match to play, and I have a goal difference of 60, opposed to United's 58. That means that I just need a point in the last game to clinch the title. It's all on.

My side had a 3-2 loss against a team we needed to beat. While the team below me won 3-2. So am into the relegation playoff zone. Not good. Need to beat a very very good DFC side on Wednesday to have any chance of avoiding a relegation playoff. I do tend to get surprise results against him though (including once in the last game of the season to cost him the premiership!) so can only pray.

My best defender is also out injured so that doesn't help

Big final (hopefully) game up for me tonight. Going defensive against DFC who needs to win by 4.

Im hoping for a draw then an upset loss for reds FC.

Anyone else have final day dramas to watch out for?

YES! 1-0 up and now DFC just went down to 10 men.

The 2 teams above me are still winning 2-0 and 1-0 though so I'm still in the relegation playoff zone. Will be gutted if pull off this win and don't get out of the bottom 6.

Reds fc concede. 2-1 now. I'm in with a chance,if I win and they draw,I climb out of trouble.

AND I GO UP 2-0!!!

Make that 3-0,unbelievable! Reds just went 3-1 up though. Demented flamingos looking like my best bet to overtake, they're only up 1-0. I need them to draw and me to win by 4 (or 5 if it's not by goals scored) OR them to lose and me to win obviously.

Demented flamingos conceded an equalizer.

If they lose and I win then I overtake them. My game is 3-1 now so am a bit nervous, not likely to beat them on goal difference now(I'd have to score 2 more),so they have to lose.

Upset DFC 3-2 and cost him a spot in the RoW cup for next season.

Unfortunately reds won 3-1 and demented flamingos drew 1-1 so I finished 13th for the season.

Will have my relegation playoff game on Friday. That's going to be a tad intense.

I was playing for either 8th place or 10th place. Warkworth FR got a last minute equaliser making me take 10th place for the season. Colvinator has gone back to back with promotions as well.

My reserves also finished last on the table so are going down.

A casual 6-0 win for me, what a way to seal the championship. Wellington United could only manage a draw, so Racing Club North Shore jumped ahead of them in second spot. It's been a good season, bring on the next one!

Colvinator and I have a 1 in 3 chance of being in the same division and group if I lose on Friday. That coukd be fun. I'd still rather be in premiership though.
