Sounds like Rudan making excuses.

Some early incarnations of the pre-christian deity (Yahwe) that later became The Almighty were pretty right down vengeful for a long stretch, what with the flood and the locust plagues.  Clearly "vengeful" does not equal "bad".

Seems to me after that interview with Shaun Gill that he deserves far more cudos than Rudan

And vice versa. He landed at a stable club here, where people weren't afraid to say no to him, the players got paid and there were a great crop of youth on hand.

It's not good for the A-League if clubs are struggling, but I have no issues seeing Rudan failing.

I saw the first half of the Brisbane game, they play a horrible brand of football, no wonder nobody is watching them.

I think Ernie is waiting to make it right next season.

Nice to know he hasn't changed a bit.

Wonder which WU players will end up with him at whichever Aussie club decides to have a season of Rudan next year

Wouldn't be surprised if Rudan ends up at WSW next year.

At least then he will finally be re-united with his family in Sydney.

But will Kurto, Durante and Burgess follow him there.

Once Rudan goes I have no real reason to despise the Snakes, they may have taken Kurto but we got Stefan who's as good, and Dura got a retirement gig

On the other hand having a real grrrrrival is fun, and the Whacking Day memes are grand

I do ask myself how much Durante regrets going there. He must sit there at times and go 'I had a job for life staying in Wellington with the club and I blew that up to follow this guy'

Footballing-wise, while I don't doubt that DeVere has been an upgrade (and it took me about 8 games to see that) Durante coulda transitioned out this season and kept some honour about himself.

Durante has been one of there more consistent performers for WU from what I have seen. But yeh must say I thought similar watching him play on Sunday.  He must look around and wonder who the hell is going to play along side him next week he's had that many team mates leave or get injured, but he just keeps on going like the stalwart he has always been. I'm sure it will be tough for him to come back here this week.

Totally this. While it's not great for the league that the newest club is crashing and burning, seeing Rudan being unmasked as the psychopath he is has been deliciously entertaining.

I think Dura has handled things with a lot of integrity this season, must be hard to be a positive leader when lots of things are going wrong around you. I hope he gets a good reception on Friday, as long as we win!

positive leader? - have you forgotten how grumpy and angry he was getting at the end of last season. It's easy to be positive when things are going your way but the test is when the shark hits the fan. I doubt he'll be booed like he was last time.

Why would you boo a player that gave you 10 years plus just because he decided that he wanted to leave.

It is pathetic.

whether you agree with the booing or not, I'm not sure telling people to get over it is fair either. Sure Dura was here for 10 years and gave the club and fans a lot, he also claimed his life was here and he never wanted to leave, then he jumps ship with a guy who lied to our faces and managed to take a successful season and throw it into the fire. Why should we us fans not feel betrayed by that? Take it out of the sporting context and use an everyday scenario where a friend has been by your side for 10 years, then ditches you for a new sparkly thing because the new guys says its better - are you still sharing a beer with this person or are you still a little hurt by the betrayal?

New Deal  Delayed by Corona

All A-League clubs will be waiting expectantly to hear from Football Federation Australia chief executive James Johnson the road map for when the competition might finish this year – and when it might start next season – when Australian soccer's governing body reveals its next short-term plan on Wednesday.

But no club will be keener to learn what Johnson and his management team's plans are during and after the coronavirus pandemic than the A-League's newest club Western United, whose search for a new ground to call home has been thrown into chaos by the uncertainty surrounding the competition's future.

Western say they are still committed to building their own stadium in Wyndham, the development which was a key part of their pitch for A-League membership when they were chosen to be the competition's 11th club in December 2018.

But Western are well aware that their first season playing home games at Geelong's GMHBA Stadium was little short of disastrous where attracting crowds were concerned, with disappointing numbers turning up to the bulk of home games.

The team's on-field results were good and they are keen to create a better atmosphere and attract more fans by playing in another venue for the next couple of seasons while they look to try and make good their pledge to build their own ground.

However, the uncertainty over the timetable of the current season and how and when the 2020-21 campaign might begin has made discussions with four potential new landlords – Melbourne Knights, The Showgrounds, Whitten Oval and Werribee VFL club – fraught with difficulty.

Talks have been taking place with all four potential hosts says Western United CEO Chris Pehlivanis, but the fact that there is no definitive route out of the crisis makes it very difficult to come to any agreement.

''We will still play one or two games in Geelong as we are the team of the western suburbs and districts, but we do want to play eight or nine games elsewhere close to a supporter base in the west,'' he says.

''The problem we have is that we really can't negotiate anything definitive until we have more idea of what we can and can't do and when we might be playing – and the other competitions.

''We need to know when the Knights are playing their NPL games, would the Whitten Oval be in use in the spring if the AFL or Women's AFL was playing there, same question for the Werribee VFL ground.

''Hopefully the meetings on Wednesday (at which Johnson will liaise with the clubs) will give us some clarity or at least an idea of what the FFA might thinking is possible and their potential schedule.''

The A-League's newest club is being sued by its former team manager, who claims persistent bullying by the head coach – including being directed to wash the other man's dirty laundry – contributed to a mental illness.

In an action filed with the Federal Circuit Court this week, the former team manager is seeking $120,000 compensation plus penalties from WMG Football Club Ltd, owners of A-League newcomers Western United.

Reporting directly to head coach Mark Rudan, the former team manager started with the club in June last year ahead of its inaugural season, holding responsibility for the team's playing kit and as an intermediary for travel, accommodation and training arrangements.

In his general protections claim, he alleges Rudan bullied him on 13 separate occasions between July and November, before he resigned in early December and took leave "due to a mental disability" from December 23.

Included among the bullying claims are that Rudan allegedly yelled at, swore at and abused the former team manager in front of others, and demanded he perform work beyond his role such as washing his "soiled" clothes and bed sheets, and running "personal" shopping errands.

The former team manager claims his employment – allegedly on a fixed-term basis until June next year – "ceased" on February 13.He also in his claim details five employment complaints relating to safety concerns and issues around his role, hours and treatment by the head coach, which he conveyed to the club's general manager, football director and a club director.

After allegedly sending a director a "confidential" email that listed his complaints, he claims Rudan confronted him the following day and told him he had no right to "question my management skills".

The former team manager claims he "suffered mental illness" as a result of the alleged bullying and the employer's responses to his employment complaints.WMG Football Club Ltd is yet to file a defence, but a spokesperson told Workplace Express that it denies the claim "and in particular notes that the person resigned from his employment".

"Since the matter is currently before the courts, the club will not be making any further comment at this stage," he said.

The Victorian-based club is currently in its first season in the A-League, but has been suspended since March due to COVID-19, along with other professional sporting competitions.

The former team manager is seeking about $110,000 in compensation for lost past and future income, a further $20,000 for pain and suffering, and maximum penalties for breaching the prohibitions on taking adverse action on the basis of discriminatory attributes under 351(1) or exercising a workplace right under 340(1).

The court action follows unsuccessful conciliation conducted by FWC Deputy President Nicholas Lake.Arthur Hambas of McDonald Murholme is acting for the former team manager.

The matter is set down for a directions hearing on July 7.

Yeah so pretty sure Australia will be the same in employment disputes as here in NZ. Just because someone resigns doesn't mean there isn't a case. Quite often in a case of bullying etc, the employee will resign/quit but the ERA will treat it as unfair dismissal/constructive dismissal.
